CoB & BoT or Ceramic Shackles?

I had the good fortune to do some High Risk LDoN last night and win on a pair of Golden Wraps of the Compact that went overnight in the bazaar for 100K... this brings my bank account to 113K...more money than Ive ever seen or am likely to see again.

In the bazaar recently have been:

spell: Child of Bertox 59999K (only time I've ever seen it for sale)
spell: Blood of Thule 32500K (uncommon to find in bazaar & high end of average price for Quellious)
Ceramic Shackles of Torment 65000K


I'm sort of leaning towards the ceramic shackles since the pet aug from LDoN only fits on primary secondary or range and they're not something I'd be likely to upgrade anytime soon... but that would also potentially mean never having the 65 pet, either.

I welcome input from other necros to help me make the best decision on how to maximize the return on investment with this unexpected fortune.

No bad /smacks with a newspaper. lol ) personaly I would buy spells if you are doing lvl 65 hard adventured you could get claws of scion with ba 4 aug 10 sta 10int aug and toss summoners on that or at worse toss it on decaying bone I would much rather have my best main effects on one item so it would never be replaced. The stat on ceramic shackles just arent good enough to waste that much money on imo. Personaly I been wanting to try to solo farm the parts which makes since but blowing 113k for ba 4 is a little poor use of cash. With child of bert you can farm things heck of alot better and if you want summoners boon might as well have the pet its best for. Thas just my 2cp well have a good one might suggest doing some ee might as well make money from that fat roll).

Purchase Blood of Thule and Child of Bertoxxolous. Then, do Takish LDoNs and nab Summoner's Boon. Then, do Ru. Hills and nab BA4.


Then, take all of these and farm the BeJeesus outta Veksar, buy a tropical island, import corpses from exotic countries, and invite me to visit from time to time.

You can get BA4 in an augment from ldon, you can't get your 65th levels that way.
I'm not sure about slot/type restrictions on the augment, but look into that first and then make your decision. Blood of Thule is an AMAZING boost in dps for necromancers, I don't think that can be argued, or over-stated.

Just as a question not a flame was wondering if the economy is really that screwed up over on your server. I mean those prices are pretty crazy or did you not mean to put k at the end? I believe that is what 32 million plat for for child or bertox. Not trying to be a jerk just wondering if that is actuly what you meant to say.

As a general rule: Spells > gear

Blood of Thule is a must, no matter how you play.

Child of Bertoxxulous is, for me anyway, just a farm tool. While soloing AND when grouping in the Planes or LDoN, I use Saryrn's Companion. And on top of that, most places you can farm with CoB, you can do with LoZ also. Just a smidge safer/quicker with CoB.

Besides, you can ghetto Ceramic Shackles until you get them with a mage bracer. You can't ghetto a 335/tick DoT.

Yes buy BoT first will make life alot better if you have enough cash would buy CoB or maybe toss like 24k into sacs and make some cash and buy some more good stuff. But, yes BoT is the bomb digity for shizel and such lol sorry rapper slang is bag mmkay.

BoT is just nasty, no and if or but about it. I bought mine for 50k and would have gladly shelled out 60 for it.


I'm a little suprised by the price of CoB though -60k is a little steep for it. On my server (Karana) BoT is the most sought after 65 spell for necros (and for good reason). I got a copy of it on a rune turn a few days ago and sold it for 60k and a 11k shield in less than an hour. CoB is usually around 30k -have seen it for 50k once before and that's about the max a seller would get for it.


CoB is nice but honestly I would go with BA IV item and BoT and swag the pet later. Granted you can save up for the aug from Ruj and save yourself a lot of money but look at it from this perspective: When you get the dark prism of companionship LoZ will be almost as powerful as an unaugumented CoB pet. Don't get me wrong, CoB is a fine pet but he's not a massive upgrade from LoZ imo. And in any case I personally wouldn't pay 60k for him. Bert is nice to have around but really our only essential PoP 65 spell is BoT.

well, I bit the bullet and bought CoB and BoT....

BoT rocks... tho I need to get a little more experience controlling my aggro with it... *sheepish look*

And I have to say I'm loving CoB... and so are my friends. We were doing LDoN last night with a level 60 cleric. On a "half the zone" pull, the pally managed to wipe out the cleric, chanter, shaman and himself in short order. The SK, the pet and I managed to kill all the mobs and live thru the whole thing (go go CoB pet, life tapping and shadowbond!)

for the rest of the evening my pets got Virtue and Fo7 and even FA *giggle* ...better still, the group refused to break up till I got my last 3 wins for the DPoC aug.

Can't wait to try the new pet now that he's foci'd!

NICE choice...BoT is very enjoyable. I wouldn't use it as a "lead-in" dot if your grouping though. It's an insane amount agro. I normally cast pyro(pants click) on inc...and then horror, if a mob isn't less then 70-80 at that point I'll add BoT or Night fire (similar agro and dmg to BoT).

Blood of thule is great if you have a knight tank. warriors have a tough time with it...I usually get in melee range of the mob when I cast blood of thule so if I get agro, the tank doesn't have to chase the mob to me when it comes running, then I FD and stay that way until the mob is fleeing or dead.

Child of Bertox is a pretty nice pet. The fact that it Enrages, and no matter how hard an enemy mob hits (providing it doesn't wipe Jobober rigtht past Enrage to dead), while he's enraged, he's gonna tank the mob just fine (for 10 seconds is it?) and you can run/FD TWICE, gate, Levant, whatever...very nice.

Oh, and another thing. I've notices Child of Bertoxxulous hits for max damage ALOT more when he has Harnessing of Spirit. Get it whenever you can for him. The added STR and DEX (ups his lifetap procs ) is huge.

If you want your pet to proc like a madman get a chanty to throw NDT on him, the cackle gets old fast off the scarecrow but its worth the gold of watching your pet proc 7 or 8 times in a row.

Hey guys im just curious ..... can anyone tell me what summoner's boon do...?? im kinda new to ldon stuff and im lvl 58 atm vry close to 59 just curious, everyone is using abreviations that i have no clue what they are LOL any explenation would be awsome! :lol:

Summoner's Boon: 760 Takish'Hiz Points: Augmentation


Once attached to an item, this increases the power of a summoned pet created from any summon spell Level 59 and above, by 15%. The item must be worn while the pet is summoned, but can then be taken off.


It also increases the base statistics of the pet, the armor class, attack level, and Level ( i.e., the Level 60+ summons all summon Level 60 pets, but with the Focus, the pet is Level 61. ), as well as runspeed, and regeneration ( the pets regenerate 5 - 6% per tick, rather than 1 - 2% ).

I am not yet 65 lol but pet and BoT is a must. But must say DAMM your server pricey , CoB on VS was and i got it for a guildy 5k and BoT was 7.5k ish. But go for pet and BoT these will have the biggest returns.

Man, I want the summoner's boon...thats next on my list after I get horror. I would definately buy child if it were for sale and I could afford it.

Right now I'm working on getting 63 spells, what a pain...10k for saryn's companion, 7k for force shield! Bah, I need both of these spells badly but cant afford them right now =(
