I know normally most people and probably most of you have at least 1 or 2 plat making strategies laying around that you have to make plat here and/or there. I figure since it's just us dark brothers and sisters around here we could at least divulge 1 plat making strategy of yours.
One I've heard of is killing orcs in Gfay and selling their heads and blood will get you about 4-5 plat per head depending on faction where you sell and charisma. Not only are they easy to kill, I doubt many lowbies camp these orcs these days anyway. :)
So fess up people! Let us know how to get some plat, even if it is just 500p an hour. :D

If im desperate for a quick 1 or 2 k i'll head to Felwithe and kill guards for an hour or 2. Need to be desperate though.
Velks at FZ is easy pp. Usually get SCHW's and plenty of Velium. Sometimes a rare drop or 2 but all in all its a guaranteed 5 to 6k per session.
Veksar named camps are always profitable.
If you can get another Necro to double up with, well then your playing in a whoile new ball game, which = mobs look out!

You're thinking of the green goblins in Butcherblock. Crushbone orcs don't drop blood, and their heads are worthless.

Yeah I'm with Omnius on this one. I was just there helping out a newb friend and the orc heads in GFay are worthless (and if memory serves me correctly) and no drop. But the ones in CB are sellable. If they do sell for up to 5pp could someone tell me where to sell at? Thanks all.

Good thing someone corrected me. A friend told me about this oh, about a week ago and I thought I'd pass it on. Good to know that it's the Green Goblins and not the orcs or else I woulda been doing work for nothing and not known why..
As for where to sell to get 5pp instead of 4 something, I'm not sure, I was just figuring that if you had a nice +cha buff and good enough faction somewhere you could probably get 5pp. Not 100% sure on that so don't quote me on my first post. :P

nadox, torgian and dulak have a lot of named or gem droppers and is extremely low maintenance L55+... 2 hours usually gets me 500-1000pp in regular drops, with 3 or more bazaarables for 1k+
at 59 many are the mobs are still DB too

I got a couple money making strategies, I find the best way to do it is just to mass mq the coldain military bracelet: I get 4-5k a bracelet MQ and it takes me about 1 hour and 15 mins to do everything, including the sale and the mq.
If you are looking for straight up plat farming a little known but beloved camp of min eis the paineel guards: you have to spend a bit mass killing kobolds in the warrens for faction (need to be amiable to get the key) but 35+ you can probably make some decent vendor loot from this, the higher the level the more guys you can kill and the more money you can get.
Basically there is several ways to get straight vendor loot/cash (rathe giants, ice giants, guards from all towns, BW giants etc) but to make the big bucks you HAVE to be 50+ and you can't do vendor loots: yes you WILL have to sell stuff in the bazaar to make money, but basically the best way to make money is to camp a rare spawn thats worth a lot of money for days at a time (for example group at cazic thule for a week and you WILL get those 120k boots, which 4 hours a day averages about 4-5k an hour, and thats if you don't get it 5 minutes after you get there).

Well I'm only 31 so don't know any Real good loot places but one place I have been going too since lv 5 is Shadeweavers Thicket.
Lesser Shades drop Shadeling Silk and Swirling Shadows. Depending on how the prices are on your server you can make about 1k an hour. On MT the silk go from 7-12p and the shadows from 50-90p. In 1 hr I can have 50 or more silks and 7-10 shadows.
I'll pop in and do a hr of killing these guys ( lv10 mobs) before I go hunt and at the end of the night sell them in the bazzar.

Early on:
farm bonechips/silks/hides and sell in bazaar
Mid-levels:
hill giants in Rathe (straight out suitcases of cash from these guys)
Dulak (Pretty good all around the zone...just be careful for trains)
Felwithe Guards (my personal favorite)
High Keep guards (PP+crap gems+words/runes+fine steel weaps)
High end necros
Once you get to around 65+AAs Veksar is nice for loot to sell in bazaar or to twink alts with. Soulscream belt, Gomdurig, some Moss Covered and Kylong drops as well. Nice necro belt with Summon Companion drops as well. This zone was made for necros.
Good luck fellow necros! :)

Hehe, ive got one which you guys have probably not considered...
First off, youve got to be level 35+ for this. It IS doable at 30-34 but youre going to have alot of trouble...
Second, you NEED to equip your pet right. Id suggest looking at the Pet Twinking guide in the Guild forum.
Alright, heres how to make UP TO 110p per hour, or if you're faster than I am, double that in an hour...
Remember Misty Thicket? Remember those Deputies who kept KSing you while you were on your alts? Namely, Looh, Asler, Keld, Drebo and Budo.
You can kill these guys pretty easily (3 mins each for me at 40) and they drop a spear (10p to home vendor) and a shield (1p 5g to home vendor)
So heres what you do.
1) Go bind yourself at your home point and then get a port to the Druid rings in MT.
2) GS yourself and run through the zone to the wall where the Deps are.
3) Walk up the wall ramp to the right and keep walking till you see Dep Budo.
4) Walk past him to the stone tower and then position yourself so that you can see him.
5) Bring up Boner and equip and haste as you like.
Now THIS is important, because if you do not follow this strategy, you could find yourself swarmed, but that rarely happens... Still, better safe than sorry.
6) DARKNESS Budo and turn off pet taunt. Let him get close to you, then jump OFF the wall (30-40 dmg) and run back a bit. Hit him with VoS and let him get even closer.
7) When he gets near, FEAR him. This ensures your pet and DoTs can kill him before he reaches the other Deps (Thats where they head)
8) Lifetap as needed to get HPs (CoB) OR VC to gain life back while you sit. Even if fear breaks, dont worry because it will take him some time to get back to you without the pet taunting him.
9) He will start running at 20% health... Now, you can do two things.
a) Take pet off and practice melee (What i did, thats why it was slow)
B) Nuke him with lifetaps, SoP or TAB
That should have taken about 3 mins, 4-5 if you were meleeing.
Now, take Boner with you and run all the way to the left wall to the LAST tower (Dont get jumped, keep your distance)
On the first floor, you will find Dep Looh.
Follow the same pattern as for Budo.
NOTE: An NPC name BLIXKIN ENTOPOP MAY ASSAULT YOU ON THIS ONE, SO KEEP A WATCH, OR IF YOU SEE HIM RUNNING AT YOU, OR WALKING TO YOU, ROOT HIM AND REROOT HIM TILL LOOH IS DEAD, THEN KILL HIM, HES EASY (LB OR GREEN CON)
Okay, from these two youve made 22p in 6-10 mins. Now head back to the center of the wall where theres an Arch. Thats where youll see 2 Deps. Go inside and youll see another one on the left. To get on the other side, go to Budo's spawn point and jump off to the other side (60-70 dmg) and walk back to the Arch. Now, pulling these are tricky. If they are green cons, chances are they wont swarm you. If they arent, id say cast a quick AoE to aggro them ALL and run into Runnyeye.
Zone back quick and youll see theyve split up and are killing things right and left. Pick one, kill it as you wish. Pick another, kill it as you wish. By now, the third should be walking back to his spawnpoint, so get him on the way and kill him. 33 more p.
By this time, Budo and Looh will have spawned, so go back and kill each. 77p.
Now, these three, Asler, Keld and Drebo are on a fast spawn cycle. About 4-6 mins i think. So by the time youre done, with Budo and Looh again, you can repeat with these three, and theres 33p again. thats 110p. If you did it in 30 mins, awesome. Keep going for 220 p.
In one 5-6 hour session you can make between 1000-1200 p. Just remember to have some weight reduction bags, or a few cheap STR items that can boost you to about 140-150 STR. Gate back to hometown to sell, and Port back.
About porting: Best if you have a Druid on a 2nd account, or PAY someone 100-200p to be porting you for a few hours. If they want more, no problems. Youre making a hell of alot anyways at your mid-game levels.
In 30 days, you should have around 25-35k solid in your bank. Not too shabby.
Note: I DONT HAVE ANYTHING EXCEPT OLDSCHOOL AND KUNARK. SO THIS IS MY OWN GUIDE TO HOW I KEEP MY CASH UP.
Well, now theres my farming strategy and soon, ill find a few more. Have fun fellow Necs, and to HELL with your faction ;)

Stay the hell out of Veksar on Tallon Zek, or I will rip your face off and make a delightful summer hat out of it.
Otherwise -- Farm, necromancers, farm. That zone is candyland to us; a varitable supermarket of valuable items that only we can camp with efficiency. ( Sure, an enchanter can handle some of the spawns, but not the ones that're deeper in, unless they kill each and every creature on the way there. )
Until then, I'll say what I said in my post on the Befallen thread ...
1) Get Level 55.
2) Go to Everfrost.
3) Find and bind yourself at the Ice Giants.
4) Kill them until encumbered with platinum.
5) Cast Levant.
6) Run 400 feet to the Knowledge book. Bank, and sell.
7) Gate.
8) See 4.
3 - 4,000 platinum per day. Perhaps more. ( I once made 11,000. Just takes tons of patience. ) They drop higher amounts of cash more frequently than hill giants, and we can succor back and forth, which makes this zone much more profitable than Rathe Mountain ventures. Ice giants even provide a mild smattering of Alternate Advancement experience up to Level 54 or so.
i've done IGs & that is a definate cash cow but get boring real fast... probably most cash camps do.
but i just hit HHK for the first time with my necro last night & that was a blast & i musta banked 600-800pp in just a few hours of running around slaughtering everything in my way. the bonus is the great xp off bards & nobles & waxing isabella is always fun. had to camp an alt in HHK tho to sell & bank for me.
heading to felwithe tonight to check that out, i'm sher it will be fun also & it sounds like the pp just oozes from this camp :>.
just wondering about veksar... when is a good level to go there for some fun. i have never been to this zone & sounds like a good place to look forward to going to.

For Veksar, 65 with 50+ AAs and all spells sounds like a plan, if you want maximum return for the amount of time and effort invested.
At 61 or so, I think you could handle the first few nameds like Gulok and Sasil, and those camps can rake in 10 - 20k with some luck, no problem. With the increases to LoZ's abilities, I'm sure it'll be even easier. Just use Shadowbond, and take some hits for Moiseur Spectore` now and then, to allow him to recover.
And yeah, cash farms become tiresome, and even more so because no matter what cash farm you visit, item farming will always, always be superior. The crappiest nameds in Veksar can drop items that represent One-Week-Cash-Crop-Farming time investments, in one or two hours.
In other words, unless you need some quick cash to purchase peridots, move on to item camps that're worthwhile and doable at your level as soon as humanly possible.

The goblins in Butcher Block have been nerfed. Like a long time ago. They used to have steins that you could sell for 4-6pp a piece and dropped regularly. The price to these have been changed its like 3 gold now.

not really they drop bloods that sell for 4pp, and heads that sell for 3-4pp. They don't drop the same things but they sell for just as much so you can make money off gobbos (of course I can make 6k an hour so I don't really see it as much money but its the best money you can make till the 30's)
Persephonae
03-30-2004, 12:32 PM
actually, I'd argue that the best money up to the 30s is the brute caves in Warslik Woods. Old school camp... and people tend to forget about it...
They're Kunark mobs so they drop pp and minor gems (topaz, flame agate & the like) & words but the HQ hides are for halfling cultural tailoring and I got 180pp each in the bazaar selling them.
Its also a mindnumbingly easy place to XP, even non-twinked. And WW has a newbie zone ZEM so XP is very decent. Do 20-30 there and you'll get a nice little nest egg from the the hides.
I posted a pretty detailed guide on it on someone's "where to level in the 20s" post... if there's any interest I'll see if I can find it and repost it seperately as its own guide.
Another good camp in the 30s are dorfs in BB. Axes drop off every dorf & sell for 5ppish each, FS weapons & ringmail drop frequently and dwarven blood is a component in ogre cultural smithing so it will sell for 20pp each in the bazaar (but more erratically than the HQ brute hides).
Being that these are original EQ mobs they're easier than a lot of the later expansion mobs and despite them being red at 29, I was mowing through them without a lot of difficulty... do 29-40 here and that's another nice chunk of change for the bank while you're getting good XP.
just my 2 bonechips on the matter :D

03-30-2004, 08:47 PM
The 4-5pp of original post is not pertaining to orcs in Gfay, but rather GreenGoblins In Butcherblock. Green gob heads and blood will garner you 4.76pp per item with good charisma.

Another, unposted spot so far, is in Grimling Forest. There is a grimling camp out front of the entrance to Acrylia Caverns, that is decent loot and decent experience for necro's in their low fifties. The grimlings drop etched acrylia runes (stackable) that range from 1pp-6pp, and occasional gems and windstones--which are used in upper level smithing, so bazaar sellable, and go relatively fast on my server. This camp is relatively safe, and if you work from a spot where there is a large boulder at the bend in the path towards AC, you can just fear kite and the pathing takes them down the hill. In my low to mid fifties, I would make anywhere from 600-1kpp per virtue, and that's excluding the windstones.

You guys are awesome! Keep the money makin' coming!
One way I've been making money lately is going around and killing Qeynos guards. (I do so love killing the residents of Qeynos :D) You get a FS sword from each and around 1-3pp. The ones over by Surefall Glade can be done at high 20s and up (just be careful of that ranger by the Millers), and the wandering guards that are higher up are simple at about 49 or so. Just go around killing all the guards and you'll have yourself a nice bit of plat to pay for stat food and potions after about an hour. Just make sure you bind in PoK or near a city so you can sell when you get weighed down with fine steel. :)

had to camp an alt in HHK tho to sell & bank for me.
Sell to tarn visilin hes indif to all. And i usually farm Hk also i make around 720 every 3 spawns (25min spawns each) so every 1hr and 15mins. Pretty good money.
Also Farming the velium pits in CC is good cash.
Or just Get a group of friend together and go camp elif in BoT ( I say elif because on my server he is NEVER camped and I have had him spawn up to 4 times in a row and drops ornate vambraces (80k) and some 10k sword. Hope that helps some people.

I am lvl 55 and On my Server the Giant Fort in Frontier Montians is always empty.
this is productive at 49 and up. I keep lich on and use Rouge pet. Only spell I use is Deflux cause it is fast cast. I run around argo about 6 Giants. and start tank tapping while pet wacks away. I can ussally make 1k in an hour or so. I stay there untill I am about 50 lbs over weight then gate out. The loots are legchopper,
grubdigger,a few different axes, giant lord tunic, Foremans tunic, forest loop, gems, lumberjacks cap, hammer of flatening. The forest loops are not really that rare I can ussally get 1 sometimes 2 an hour. I throw on CHA gear and sell all the stuff to a vender.

Some great Ideas here. I have found Veksar, High keep and Dulak to be excellent farming zones. If you aren't quite high enough to farm those zones Crystal caverns is great Loot. The orcs drop all sorts of velium, the herbalist drops a weight reduction pack, and the genoids drop assorted gems.. the gem collectors usually drop the better gems. The spiders also drop crystaline silks wich still sell for a fair price in the bazaar.. maybe 100pp per stack or so. There are other assorted drops from named spawns.. but it's been a while since I've camped this zone.
Hope this helps,

Hmm, let's see how much I can give away and still retain my spots ;).
Actually most of my spots (that I'm gonna divulge ;) ) have already been listed, but i'll do a little recap of where you can camp what for xp & decent loot.
20-24 FM Giant fort, decent vendor loot chance at Forest Loop
24-30 FM Skulking Brutes just outside Dalnir
30-34 /shrug no one place really stands out
34-40 WC druids, can start doin HGs in RM, CC is also an option
40-50 CC move from orcs to spiders to geos, sell silks in baz sell gems from geos
Dulak is also an option here, but I preferred CC due to the bank/merchant/xp all in one zone benefit
51 Felwithe Guards/HHK
52-55 Dulak has become ridiculously easy while still (barely) xp-able
55-60 Lots of options, IGs in EF, Velks, if you have trouble making money as a necro by this point just log in, turn on Lich and go afk until you die
61-65 Go find your own camps ;)

I found a nice little place to farm sider silks, for low lvl necros. you have to go to East karana, the place is crawling with Crag spiders, and it's a nice place to lvl as well. Just be careful no one likes ya in the zone, I think you are KOS to every NPC.
I came here with my Chanter at 12, and after a few hours my inventory was nearly full with silks (A couple of backpacks full). Sell the silk in the bazaar for loads of plat. On my server you can get 200pp and over for a stack of silk, I sold it a bit cheaper.
You can bank in Highkeep Hold, as long you haven't killed loads of guards. Your KOS to the guards, so be careful.
There's a couple of named mobs you have to be careful off, you also get Hg's walking about on Crag hill.
This is a great zone for low levels, no one comes here, everyone in that lvl range is in PC, for the fast exp. My Chanter now in his 40's is wearing items brought from his days in EK.
As an added bonus, if you have an Iksar Necro, you could forage up a couple of tea leaves, which sell in the bazaar for up to 50pp each.
I hope this helps, I know now a days everyone has got a high lvl alt which can help twink there new char, but for the guy's and girls who haven't go to EK.
All you have to do is keep ya eyes open, and try and get a sow if possible( incase of the odd sticky situation).

Hello, I've talked about this before. When you hit 52 buy or loot the spell, Sacrifice.
On Xegony, we have the buysell channel it's gtg for all. My message is simple. Looking to buy Sacrifices, Looking for old dead chars, Paying instant plat.
I do this in Pok, /ooc and /1 (buysell).
I get so many peoples responses, that I have to turn them down. The high end game , dictates; only 1 char survives. The rest are plat machines. Sac or sell gear.
Recently, I was in Bizarre (as always) with trader; Now the only variation was this guy was selling a 58 shammy account, I thought, I have everything i need. What more could i ask for? A 58 shammy to buff my pet would be cool, If I had that account; I'd buff all my pets. I'm not a two-box kind of guy (one comp) but I bought the account for 30k. It came with a 54 berserker.
I knew I was taking a big chance buying an account. If the passwords were false. I would have eaten 30k. It turned out ok though, except one major problem. When answering the secret question to change the password as well the account info, it came up false, would not register.
So here I am with an account that I cannot change the info with. I thought about it for 5 to 10 minutes; I really wanted a lvl 58 buffer. Only thing I could do is sacrifice the +50 chars and sell off the crap newbie gear on other chars.
All in all, I made 110k with a 30k investmest. I bought all my new OOW gear with that, Give the account info to my nephew, he's now selling SoW pots for the next month.
Moral? Make sure everything is current, if not; SACRIFICE til your blue in the face... MAKE PLAT, and SCREAM all the way to the bnk....
