OBF / CoD, tier 5

Finally made it to warmly in all previous timelines and its time to hit up Kuua Theme.

Has anyone found a decent way to faction here. So far the only quests/tasks I been able to at least feasibly do are the slay 20 tasks, memory orbs and weapons.

But at least OBF is a terrible zone for kiting, or I havnt found the spot to kite yet, any help would be awesome.

Sitting at 24k hp 18k mana with about 600AA currently.

If you are running towards CoD from the void zone in, you will see a big ramp to the left just as you pass under the bridge. That's generally where I would kite in OBF, you can pull quite a few non-kyv mobs from there. Unfortunately, that's about the only good kiting spot I've found since they made dragorns summon.

there is a hill next to the "bridge" in the middle that you can kite near the top of... though roamers get sort of close once in a while so you literally are kiting on the top of the hill most of the time. Thats where I spent about 10 hours after getting 85.

There is another task that I highly recommend once you have the faction for it. Vile Weaponry (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=4793). All you have to do for the task is collect a set of 4 'weapons' that are trash drops from any model. The only catch is that you cannot request this mission until you have Indifferent to the quest mobs. I was not indifferent to the quest mobs until I had just hit warmly to the herald (separate factions, only killing will raise your quest mob faction while quests + killing raise your herald faction) but once I hit that warmly I had 5 sets to turn in and that is with deleting a ton of the weapons. It gave me a great boost towards warmly without much effort.

Edit: wait... by weapons do you mean Vile Weaponry or The Ultimate Weapon task? If you are already collecting for Vile Weaponry, you should start doing The Ultimate Weapon (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=4789) task as well. The arcanum parts are pre lootable, the rest is not. The tuning forks only drop from kyv so you might not get them soloing, but they are pretty easy to find rotting from groups killing around the zone (as are all parts for this task for that matter... people are stupid, capitalize!).

Not sure of quests but a kite spot would be in CoD at the entrance to the Xangef room, u can pull mobs to the 2 dragorns and out dmg them and get exp/faction. None summon and no kyvs in the room and if u need more mobs continue to next room (1 kyv). The only problem is if a named pops cause with last patch they started summoning again, thats at least twice its been kite, summon, kite, summon in that zone with named so the next patch it might be kiteable again who knows.

If the Dev's dont know about it after the weekly, if not daily posts about it on eqplayers forums... then they probably arent gonna find it coming here.

That said, I would have been okay if they would have gotten rid of the dragorns completely.

I only posted after it was nerfed, its an ongoing game thing every patch, countless times they've screwed up shroud exp to where someone could make 100 aa's in a day. There's always something patch to patch, just sometimes your lucky enough to hear bout it and sometimes your not.

CoD is worthless after the nerf, but anyways.. It was quite a lot more than 100aa/day with shroud, more like 11 per 15 minutes.

Read through this and Alla/Rasper's a few times and although I hate to ask, I'm still not sure...what's the best, easiest, quickest way to get to warmly here?

Unlike the other earlier zones there is no "quick, easy, lazy" way to warmly in OBF. The fastest way is to join groups in the zone and kill, kill, kill for a couple weeks. Do the Vile Weaponry task (Grithyank Avlonnon, CoD, found at 465, -1685) over and over as well as the kill tasks of Impairing the Ikaav, Knockdown the Noc, The Kyv are Coming and Undoing the Ukun -- all supplied by Commander Prezul.

You can do all the kill tasks solo if you wish (except Kyv, while it's possible it's not practical) but this zone really calls for group effort if you wish to finish before the next expansion.

That's overstating it some. It does require effort, but if you apply yourself then it might take a few weeks solo, with a group would be quicker of course. I did just the 3 kill 20 tasks and Lost memories when SoD first came out and I was ally before even hitting level 85.

It really is not too terrible. Like Lashden said, Lost memories is good and super easy, also you should check out The Ultimate Weapon (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=4789) since it gives a higher faction/chrono return than most (and is fixed at 75).

Some you won't be able to request until your dragorn loyalist faction is high enough. There are actually 2 important factions in zone. The herald faction is what u want for spells etc and it is raised both by killing mobs and doing quests, the dragorn loyalist faction is what you need in order to request quests (need indiff for vile weaponry).

also, all of the LOOT objectives and kill objectives MUST be done in obf. Only things that are prelootable (like when the quest says collect ie vile weaponry) can be done in CoD. Basically, stack up on the 4 vile weapons while getting to indiff with loyalists and run the 4 kill tasks, lost memories, and the ultimate weapon. Can also look to do some of the progression or other Dark Soul Crystal missions while at it to multi-task.

a good spot i like is right at the emlxi (sp?) spawn the t5 wrist mobs you can kite on the hill and pull everything but dragorns and kyvs its rough but not horrid

Bloodfields task: Holding the Fort.

Anybody have experience with this? Me and a bud did this today in my vain hopes of getting tier5 shoulders for my warrior box. All the info we could find on this regarding when/how the named spawns is contradicted by other post (on alla's). So we eventually completed the task after a dozen retrys doing stuff like waiting 15 mins, spawning familiars, killing first wave, but still no Chaxyl.

This is a pretty brutal task overall. And the completion reward is bugged, all 3 of the chars got zero experience. If I can't figure out known mechanics on the strat to spawn Chaxyl this is a lost cause for me; will have to farm t4.

You aren't getting XP because the npc's are out dpsing your group, if you really want the xp you can just keep the mobs away from them. I believe when I got the shoulders the named spawned on the 2nd or 3rd wave. I couldn't tell ya where though, we had a bard pulling. She did save it for last so it might be a little out of the way or something. I do think that he spawns as part of the wave if he does though, like the named in the Murdunks Last Stand spawns as one of the reinforcements.

The strat is something like this:
Everyone invis at first when you trigger. The first mobs will spawn (always nocs iirc), try to get those single and kill them. Then you can pull the rest to you and kill them in at your leisure until you get the updates for that wave, then the next wave will spawn. I wouldn't say it's brutal but it is a long mission if you are trying to do the entire thing.

We let the dragorn help kill the first 2 or 3 mobs, thats it, during the initial bust. We got xp for every other kill. But when the task was completed, when you are rewarded your timeshear fragment and get faction, 30 chronos & experience....none of us got experience with the reward. Zero. That's the part I meant bugged - not the kills themselves. We all got the message that we received experience.

When I did this, we used a chanter to position the main npc and let the other guards die and we just solo pulled and cleared everything else. It took longer but it worked fine.

I noticed this recently too, I saved a LoD for my alt who was doing the mask quest...and he got virtually no exp.

I seem to remember this being quite nice exp when I did it previously, but tbh I didn't think much of it at the time. Oh well. :(

The individual parts of the Iksar mask quest still give XP, but I do not think the final turn in does. Most of the 'group' quests don't give XP (ie, those that put a purple task in your quest window and require you to enter an instance). Almost all of the solo ones do.

You be better off doing the Studing the portal Task for the T5 essences, Named Mob spawns faster then Holding down the fort, And yeah that is a grueling task

Haven't been on Test for a while, but they are now. Kyv's always summoned, but Ikaav, Ukun and Noc model named did not.
