Got a question on burning affliction stuff. I'm still a low level but i'd like to get one. My question is should I look for the stars and look to get a BA4 item or should I settle for a BA3 item. There seems to be a lack of BA4 items that are droppable or questable. Am not sure what way I'm going to go as far as aa's or xp when I get high enough but I was just wondering. If I go the aa route that may give me time to get a good BA item. Also is a BA item that serious when it comes to a necro? Can I survive without one whether it be soloing or grouping? Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

You can live without one, but they do help tremendously. I'm not sure what your play-style is, or what it will become but, BA3 items are pretty easy to come by and will help you to a bit after level 60 (since you'll still use funeral pyre of kelador for a long time), but eventually it'd be good to get the the level 4 version and focus all your dots. Mana preservation, affliction haste, affliction efficiency, extended range etc are all nice to have, even reagent coservation is ok (bonechips, coffins, peridots) but don't go out of your way for it.

BA items are pretty nice for the extra damage... especially 49+ when you really start to notice

the coldain military wristguard is a very easy BAIII questable item (alla's and others have good guides)... and since even at 65 you will be using 60- spells, it's good for a while

AEIII is arguably just as good or better... though i know of no easy quest for this... i would certainly buy a AEIII item before upgrading to BAIV

and yes... you can survive without them... basically they just give you the ability to do more damage with less mana (about 20% or so due to fluctuations in them actually going off)... this can matter if you work with real efficient groups, but you will notice it most when soloing in your 50s, when xp gets slow and pulling a few extra mobs an hour makes a big difference

So basically I have a few levels ahead of me before I will really have to work towards a BA item. As far as the others I do have an AE2 item no ER items as of yet. I did research the BA3 items and I saw there is a decent robe called Robe of Misery. Can anyone give me a lil insight on how exactly to use it. Right now i'm using Robe of Abrogation has regen on it. I know I have to be wearing the robe for the focus to take effect, but my question is when would I swap the robe in and out? The lich lines can put a hurting on your hp so would I just eat the hp loss as i'm casting spells with this robe on and put the regen robe on after I can sit down some? Or should I just use the abrogation robe during downtime?
I've made up my mind to get the misery robe because my tailor friend said he'd make me one for discount. Pros and cons on this would be great to hear because it may effect my decision to even get one and probably go after the Coldain quest.

you ll notice it even at 34 with venom of the snake dot when yer dmg exceeds 65-70+ per tick with the ba effect.. it will be your powerful dot and most aggro catching dot u have for a lil bit. BA will always help, if u can get it now. But.. for the quest, u sorta need help to kill the mob that drops the bracelet (coldain military guard wrist item) Robe of misery is decent to have, but around 3-6 k or so.. its not that cheap. Of course, theres always LDON for the focus 4 effects should u go that route. Since u have robe of abrogation, and "assuming" if u had the ability to afford the robe, ID get the ba3 bracelet and use teh robe u have now for that combo.. robe of misery woudlnt make sense for u to get now that i think about it, getthe quest ba3.

Don't spend money on a Robe of Misery when you can get a Coldain Military Wristguard for free, keep the regen. HP = Mana and Regen = HP

I just looked at the guide to the coldain quest. Looks like it's pretty easy except I don't think my nec can solo the guy at the end. I'll be doing the quest in the very near future but i'll use my chanter to do the killing. Thanks for all of the info on this subject.

OMG, I just looked at this quest....must have Giant faction ?? I have killed so many giants in every zone, dwarfs throw me partys and dragons let me ride on their backs.....in the time it would take me to reverse this faction, I could be a 250 potter making ceramic shackles :)

and easy solution for this is to create a RZ ogre alt to do everything prior to the final turn-in (you can use your main to do the killing for the components then log ogre to loot, if necessary)

when you do the turn in, have your main parked outside the cave where the final mob pops... you will have plenty of time to log off the ogre and log in main before worm that triggers the final mob shows up... just be sure to announce in zone that no one should kill the broodmother since you need her to trigger the dwarf

i was lucky enough to have a guildie do the ogre part... but it could be done solo too

Burning affliction.... teamed with Affliction efficeincey turns you into a mad man!!

Can you live without them sure... but you will be staring at your spell book more. alot more. here are some stats I noticed..

It appears to be a random increase in damage that it does.

Envenomed bolt does @ 140 per tick... with B.A. it can do up to 180 per tick. keep in mind that the increase per tick is random... sometimes it only does 7 or so.

it saves you mana cause it is almost like a second DOT when you get two or three of them on that pesky mob.

Team it up with Affliction Effeciency and you can kill kill kill with greatly reduced downtimes.
common reply... but I have mana pres... doesn't cut it :) mana pres saves 10% I think... A.E. saves 25% I think... big big savings... should be endorsed by Walmart!
