Figuring factions?

Currently I'm a lvl 5 Dark Elf and still trying to figure out the game. It's all new but I'm catching on. I'm wondering who I should go after and who to leave alone when going hunting. I know I have natural enemies that would kill be on sight, but even walking through the forest I ran across some character (which I don't recall) but she began casting on me and in the description said it would attack on sight...so I ended up killing her, but it dropped my faction with several groups and raised it only with the undead. For example I ran across some 'Clockwork' characters and was unsure if it was best to go after them or not. Any sites where I can read up on this? Thanks.

Hmm..I know there are faction lists and things out there...but Ive never read them...you usually just learn from your mistakes. Dont want to lose faction with your home town or any others you have good faction with. If you see a faction hit to that, avoid it next time.

As for a site, I dont have a link...hopefully somone else will and theyll post it.

This site (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/) is a good place to start if you have a question about a particular NPC in a particular zone. Most of us have played long enough that the faction rules have become second nature and we don't really have to question it like you do starting out.

here is a webite that has a Faction (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/factionlist.html) list. all you do is click on the faction you want to know about and it will tell you which mobs/quests you can do to raise/lower your faction.
