This is kind of a post to ask what specialization would be good for a 53+ necro.

It's also a post to just ask what all you crazy necrophiles have for your present specializations. I'd like to see how all you necros use your class. :)

Alteration.

Conjuration is handy with DoTs and pets, but alteration is our taps, leeches, pet buffs, etc etc etc.

I have a friend who was of the "reanimator" style of play. Pet nearly dead? Make a new one and send it in. Rinse. Repeat. He went for Conjuration and was quite happy.

Alteration it should be....Just think about the frequency you will be using your spells, then check the category they fall into, pretty simple :)
The majority of spells we will use after we are buffed up and Jabober is with us (after prepartions in other words) fall into the Alteration school.

So yeah, go for conjuration....

When I asked this question of another necro in-game he told me to put one point into each and go solo xp for a while. Guess which one went over 50 first....Alteration.

If you do LDoN's, there is an excellent chance that Evocation will go over 50 first so the answer will partially depend on how you xp.

Level 53 ? Are we understanding the question correctly ? I remember going to OT with a low level alteration spell way back in the 20s I think, casting that one spell like crazy until alteration hit 51. By lvl 53 I would have thought your speciaizations would be maxed or close to it anyhow ? btw, since alteration is your lifetaps and DoTs, it got my vote too :)

I put a point into each when I could, and just played normally from there, letting my play style pick for me. BTW, I have like 192 in Specialize Alteration now. It's simply the best option. Lifetaps, pet buffs, twitches (Hold flames please)...most of our spells are alteration. The only other option really is conjuration with many of our dots and, of course, all of our pets based off of it. Seriously, just let your play style do it for you.
