Some folks are returning to play and want to know what it takes to get a teir5 merc. This is what you need to do. These are all in Korascian Warrens which is off of Tosk from the void.

Solo Tasks:
[__] Nedsin #1: Find Your Allies: is given by Nedsin Tabbels.
[__] Nedsin #2: Whom Frogs Destroy: is given by Nedsin Tabbels.
[__] Nedsin #3: The Wrath of Korascian: is given by Nedsin Tabbels.
[__] Ylatra #1: Disrupt the Siege: is given by Ylatra the Vassal.
[__] Ylatra #2: Champions No More: is given by Ylatra the Vassal.
[__] Retinue of the Frog-God is given by Sterik Gristmaker.

Group Mission:
[__] Murdunk's Last Stand is given Ylattra The Vassal.

The solo tasks shouldn't be too hard for a necro, other classes might have issues.

Here is a breakdown of the quests.

You can add these markers to your map to mark the spawns and trigger:
P -333.2749, -715.0703, -24.7966, 0, 127, 0, 2, Urn

Notes:
Nedsin wants you to free some thralls. Head north west into the frog area and you will find 5 "a Korascian thrall". When you hail them (not invis) they will either flee and update task or they will attack (and nearby mobs will assist). You can do this via DA, or can mem-blur attackers, but ultimatly you need 5 to run away. Once completed return to Nedsin to complete the task.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Wrath of Korascian

• Miniature Rallosian Left Glove Padding
• Experience (25% of aa)
• Gain faction with Mitius, Herald of Change
Notes:
Ylatra sends you up north to strike a blow into the forces of the Rallosians. The scouts are random goblin pops and are hardest to find, the rest are plentiful up near the Rathe Council Chamber zone area. Just need to satisfy the kill counts to complete the task.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Champions No More
Who- Ylatra the Vassal
Where- Korascian Warrens
Requirements- The Wrath of Korascian
Phrase- defeat them
Mission steps:
• Kill 15 Rallosians - Korascian Warrens

• Gain faction with Mitius, Herald of Change
Notes:
Ylatra sends you up north to strike a blow into the forces of the Rallosians. Any mob with the word "rallosian" will count towards the 15, then you just need the two "named" that spawn near Murdunk. Neither are anything special.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Murdunk's Last Stand
Who- Ylatra the Vassal
Where- Korascian Warrens
Requirements- Champions No More; requires 3 real players in the instance for the script to start
Phrase- strike
Mission steps:
• Follow Ylatra's [directions] to your ambush location - Korascian Warrens
• Kill 35 Rallosian reinforcements - Korascian Warrens
Reward:
• variable Chronobines
• Timeshear Green Fragment Ena
• Gain faction with Mitius, Herald of Change
Notes:
Ylatra wishes you to stop rallosian reinforcements from reaching the fight with the creatures of Rathe. When ready say "directions" to Ylatra to be ported into the instance. Shortly there after rallosians will begin spawning at the Toskirakk zone line and heading towards the Rathe Council Chamber zoneline. If more than about 9 make it, you lose. Set up camp and kill them as quickly as you can to stay ahead of the pace. All but the giants can be mezzed. When the 35th dies the mission ends in victory. Drop the instance and invis to get out.

One thing to add, toon needs to be 75+ to request the prequests.

I was able to solo all but Murdunk's at 85 with ~800-1000 AA and mostly Bazaar/SoD group gear.

Could add another useful part and post which buffs to block so your merc doesn't suck at healing :D

Got the first two parts knocked out with no problems (once I found out that normal Feign Death isn't fast enough to try and do two of the thralls in a row without a break...). Got late and I'll try finding a decent spot to kill froggies in the morning.

There is a ledge in the first frog cave that they don't path onto. You can pull them up there and root them or I just stand up there and root them in place. Root rot until they are clear then you can kite if you want.

Just a point of reference type post...

Over the weekend we did the J5 merc quest line for 2 toons, start to finish, in 4.25 hours. I only add that we did it for 2 people because we had to wait on ground spawns, thralls, etc. We used BL/Shm/Rog/Nec/Wiz/J5 Clr Merc, all lvl 90.

The 4.25 hours included several stupid mistakes and afks...deaths, porting to PoK and forgetting the "Kill 5 Sentinels" task, things like that . It was very easy and well worth the time invested.

I did it half one night and half the other, probably about the same time over all.

Used 88 necro, 87 mage, t5 merc (2 on murdunks). Pets seriously ate all the mobs without even blinking.

Was going to try with 87 necro pet tanking, with an upgraded (86 or 87? no idea on mage pets) mage pet, I would think things should be easy! :)

So me my buddy decided to get our alts t5 merc'd and HoT t4 geared out of boredom; this week we are individually doing the merc flagging. This morning when I did Murdunks last Stand mission it bugged out on me.

It was just my warrior + shaman + merc. I got the mission fine, it updated the first steap (directions) fine, zoned in just fine, but the rallosians never started spawning and making the run. I ran around and killed 8 or so normal ogres hoping it would trigger the spawning, but no luck. After 25 mins I gave up; didnt have time to do it again..will tomorrow morning.

So, anybody done murdunks with just 2 players & merc? I'm wondering if it requires 3 real players inside the mission, or 3 real players in the group to initiate the script.

Got mission with my box and two mercs zoned in and event wouldnt start.

Added a third person to task who was in guildhall same result event wouldnt start.

Once third person entered the zone event started up almost as soon as they had zoned in.

Ah good catch. I did it with 1 friend but he boxed another account. Mission is dead simple at lvl 90.

Another great guide I wanted to say thanks for! I soloed everything but the Murdunk mission with crap gear at 85 without too much trouble, just have to be patient. The big frog Korascian prime gave me some trouble at first, since I was trying to pull him all the way out to where the quest giver is and he didn't want to follow very well. Then I just gave up and decided to root rot him at spawn and nothing aggroed. Either I got extremely lucky or that was by design. Either way, it was much much easier than trying to get him to come all the way out after me. Thanks again for the write up!

Dunno if this is in the other referenced thread but for hailing thrawls stand next to one (they will be non-kos initially) and target it. Cast levant and a split second before you zone hail them. Bit of running but I knocked out all of them in like 10 minutes. You'll have a good laugh watching other groups try for hours :)

Binding close (right outside the spider/frog tunnel is safe) and gating is easier.

I gotta ask though, you couldn't get a FD off fast enough? Super easy for those of us with that capability.

edit: If you fail on saving a thrall and you drop aggro, there is a "reset" time on the thrall. They will turn towards you when you hail them, and won't be able to be re-hailed for a minute or so. Only when they turn back to their original position can you attempt the hail again.

I was lucky and got into a group that was knocking this out last night. I'd thought all I had left was "Disrupt the Siege" and "Mardunk's Last Stand", but when I went to PoK and dropped my T2 Merc, I still didn't have access to the Journeyman T5. Asked in /ooc and instantly got responses that I was missing a step. I checked my Magelo inventory (I LOVE that search tool) and found that I'm missing the Miniature Rallosian Right Glove Padding (http://eq.magelo.com/item/42798) and the Miniature Rallosian Greave Hips (http://eq.magelo.com/item/42805), so apparently I need to still knock out Champions No More (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=4699) and Retinue of the Frog-God (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=4698). :(

For any necros helping someone else or getting alts flagged for the higher level merc, here are some possibly helpful tips. I just ran a monk and shaman through some of the tasks to help out about 2 weeks ago. The monk was a friend, we picked up the shaman in zone cause he needed help. Head to thrall room but ignore the thralls at first. Completely clear room of adds cept the big frog near the back and the static sentinel spawns(think there are 2 near him that don't roam iirc). Next, target a thrall and have whoever is helping you target them also. Snare the thrall and run it around the room while your friends spam hail it, or you can agro it and let pet tank it while they spamming hails. Most of the ones we did this on poofed, we had to kill a few, but getting two people flagged, you're going to be there through respawns anyway. This seemed to work better than them just going up to a thrall and hailing it on it's spawn point as long as they did not engage it after it was agro'd and ONLY sat there and hailed. Kill room as it respawns and repeat till they need the next task of killing sentinels and the big froggy. Not sure if you can get those two tasks together or if they need to be done progressively, but you're there already with the room cleared so it's easy to invis back to taskgiver and invis back and kill some froggies. Hope some people find this helpful!

Did all these duo with an anguish/Demi geared 80 monk and myself (85 SoD t3 group/solteris raid geared necro, 800 AA or so) few months after SoD came out. Mirdunks was the hardest but doable by mass kiting with efficient dots (ended up with like 6-8 mobs at one point) pre-deathbloom. Used both our burns mid way to get a med break in. Now you'd need a third warm body (mercs used to count).

If you get a buggy one spawning the mobs at 2x speed its nearly impossible :/

The other group task we did by training the mobs tp the golem area where nothing is social to them, root rot one at a time while invis when a golem wanders by.

the sentinels one I did by kiting all 6 in the first little room of frogs at a time. Pretty no fuckups allowed strategy cause 6 frogs catching you = back to bind.

Thralls is just hail, fd, repeat.

Pretty simple stuff, really.

Thanks for this guide, and for those of you who help maintain the other threads here. I just came back after four years and they are very helpful.

ETA: I don't have any of the newer FD AA, so I used Levant and hailed the thralls right before it went off, then ran back each time. Takes up slightly more time, but it worked for me.
