Em5, & 6?

I bought the Chipped shards of Dread, just couldnt get the blasted drop LOL.

Now i see a EM6, no drop version in the Libaray. Hopefully i can get it to drop.

Question is, i hear on the Mage tower, that an EM8 is available in T4 zones, anyone seen it yet?

I'm using em7 from tower (still working thru it, only have 3 events on farm ATM) and I can say that the 87 war pet does get a zombie illusion with it. I took off all pet foci and cast pet just to check his out, and the real form is an annoying spectre...

Quasit does the Rogue pet get the undead iksar illusion with EM7? Pretty sure I read that somewhere...just can't remember if it's EM7 or EM8.

With the EM7 focus the rogue pet still summons as a zombie

The EM8 from T4 is super easy to camp. Zone into Morell's Castle, and kill the 3 Animanted Armour mobs in the next hall, repeat until named spawns.

In regards to the 87 war pet, with em4 its an annoying spectre, and with em5 its a zombie. Worth the upgrade for just that alone I'd say.

I have some questions about these pet focii.

I have the T4 EM8 drop from MM, but I'm wondering how one knows if the pet is stronger? Normally, when I cast spells that receive focus from a specific item I'm wearing, I'm used to seeing something "sparkle" or "glimmer" or whatever the item does..

ie... Your Purple Earring Glimmers (or sparkles/shimmers) or whatever.

However, when I cast the 87 pet, none of my gear sparkles, glimmers, or seems to "activate" in any way. Other than wearing the pet foccii item, is there something extra I need to do when casting up a pet in order to make the focus work?

At 90, my pet cons blue to me still. I'm assuming this would be the case no matter what. A focused level 87 pet would only be level 88 (thus still dk blue)?

As long as your pet focus item is equiped when you summon your pet, it works. There are no focus messages of any type; your verification that it works will be bigger minimum/max hits, etc. Or if you really want a dramatic demonstration, try pet tanking without your focus used on summoning, then again with. Worlds of difference. Worlds.

You are correct. The devs have to make a separate creature in the database for each focus/spell combination; hence their recent trimming of the pets effected by the old/new foci (i.e. EM3 does not focus our 87 war pet). Each pet/focus combination has its own hp/ac, min/max damage, and mod2 cloak (max mod2s since ~EM4).

I currently have an EMV focus at lvl 82. Once I'm 85, what would be the highest lvl focus I could get easily? Is the EM8 earring attainable at that level or would I have to be 90?

The highest pet focus you can use at 85 (group T3) is EM VII -
Icefang in HoT Upper drops one (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=121131) (required 85)

Professor Glumb in The Library T2 drops EM VI. You can use this now (required 82)

The EM VIII (tier 4 group) you are asking about is required 90 for use.

Question for scrat...the glowing dyadic quartz that reads as EM8 from zeb, or even the EM 5-7 augs from zeb, will these also give your pet zombie graphics, specter is very annoying not to mention the greater dps/tanking ability the aug would bring.

Also, if these are unavailable to me, whats another EM5+ focus either aug or equipment that I could get my hands on, I heard there is one that spawns in chest at end of Fall of the Tae Ew group task, but I've only done it once and no dice, or possibly one bought from merchant in feerrott2 with dream motes??

Augs over EM3 from Zeb require that you have completed SoD group and raid progression. I'm assuming you haven't or aren't going to do that, so HoT group items are the way to go.

I see that the EM5 ear drops off of a lizard namer in static feerrott2 and has a chance to drop two versions with same focus but slightly different stats, seems like an easy camp, close to the spell vendors around the corner of building near the temple/pyramids. I'm lvl 86 atm, 1.5k aa's, have a journeyman t5 tank merc, almost max healing crit aa's, reluctant benevolence 4/6, spell casting reinforcement 5/6 for the RB, all rank 2 spells for lvl and max dot crit/damage aa's, wife is 82 necro and has a t5 cleric merc, is this mob a doable thing for us with what we're working with? not sure how hard these things hit, will tank merc be able to handle it long enough for us both to burn it down i'm wondering. Probably going to try it sometime today boxing the wife's toon so will be mainly me dps'ing. This em5 ear is just to hold me over till i get get a higher group item when im further along with hot progression. Any advice would be appreciated if anyone has killed this leezard before. Thanks!

Just so you know, I killed 70 straight PHs there with no spawns before. A frenzied tae ew is the PH, there should be 4-5 of them between the spell vendors and the top of the ramp. Doing Feerrott mission (Fall of the Tae Ew) might be a better choice, and can drop a nice aug too. Just make sure to have your fear immunity AA and keep the tank merc on passive while you are splitting.

My 87 war pet could tank Feerrott it pretty well with EM4. If you have a level 86 J5 tank merc, he should be in good shape I should think, and you have two pets to back him up. Just make sure they have mage gear and rageswords, since they are the level 82s.

So went to camp named chick, Frindar or something, in underquarry for EM5 ears, had done camp before and have the icy heart augment but she only spawned once and that was all she dropped. At the time I was there, I didn't even know she dropped an EM5 item. Well, went to check camp out and there was a group there camping for AC aug she drops. I asked to join them thinking I was in luck and if an ear dropped, it was mine. The mage in group told me to meet his warrior in GL because he had something for me. Met warrior and he handed over a chipped shards of dread. I attempted to give him 9k for it(which was all i had at the time) but he refused. So I lucked into an EM5 item, now all I have to do is get one for the wife!
