This is absolutely sadistic. So after being gone for 7 years, I come back to the game and decide to get my epic 1.5. Well after pulling my hair trying to get an old gargoyle to pop for 2 days, I now realize I also need to get my blacksmithing up to 100 for some stupid combine. I'm honestly about to stop doing the quest but before I do, I wanted to see if there was some easy way of getting my smithing skill up.
Thanks in advance.

Try using this:

I had a friend tell me what to make, so having this guide, it should be very easy to get smithing to 100. Will probably take a couple hours, and some plat (I forget how much it cost, but it wasn't to much). Good luck, the epic is worth it!

Ah, smithing is easy (and this comes from no-trade skills person) . It took no more then a couple hours and everything was right there, on vendors.
Now, getting Anguish raid together for my orb, heh, that's a different story ...

I made "metal bits" of various level. I think Fulginate. Took about 20k buying mass ores in bazaar and maybe 30 minutes clicking combine. Maybe 20 minutes ;)
1.5 is a fun little solo task now (did it easy at 85 or pre 85 with crap gear/500aa's maybe) and 2.0 all you need is the orb. Necro epic is still a massive requirement as it is a nice DPS boost 24/7.

1.5/2.0 epic for us is by far the easiest quest Ive ever solo'd. Granted Morb, tradeskilling isnt somthing that Ive ever enjoyed, getting to 100 is really easy though.
Just to put it in perspective, once you finish this, you have 14k more aa to get and a new expansion worth of progression, yay! =p
Good Luck
Maybe 20 minutes ;)
And this includes the research time. Really it's very easy, to say you're going to give up on your epic because of it...for shame... :D

Plus, the first few points you get from the Guild Master for a single point. Freebie Quest in Abysmal will take you to 54. Ores will get you there so fast, you'll likely go past 100 before you realize it.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, I appreciate it. So today I got my 1.5 epic and of course I want to get 2.0. How hard is Hanvar? I'm currently level 80. Can a single group of level 80 - 85 do it? Also, how hard is the Dranik part of the quest?

Hanvar can be one grouped.
Dranik isnt hard, but iirc they cant be split solo, have to have someone to help. Give it a try, you dont lose anything if you fail. Just a tip though, make sure to do the hail before you make your way there, kinda pita when you run all the way there only to remember you forgot to hail=/
Gratz on 1.5!

Dranik part was done easily with an 80 and 85 necro with mercs to heal us and pets. We did split them, I would think they should be able to be split with some patience, but I am not sure.. The 85 necro was raid geared, when I was 80 I had very average gear. I got an orb that rotted, so I can't comment on the Anguish fights. GL!

Thanks again for the tips guys. One last quick question, is the 2.0 graphic any different than 1.5?
PS. Oh and what about the pet it casts? Is it any good melee wise? Can you cast it while you have a regular pet up? (Since it only lasts 5 minutes from what I read.)

Same graphic but with a glowing green particle effect. The pet doesn't last 5 minutes lol. I'd say it's in the ballpark of 30s or so. You can cast it at the same time as Jaboner.

Pet is mostly aesthetic nowdays. It will group heal 3x for 600 or something and does minimal melee dmg. Actual pet dmg was always fairly underwhelming, the heal part was fairly decent at one point but with group gear likely able to get you to 35k hp in HoT it really won't be worth much lol.

I split them as well, at least when I did it for Zeli. When I did the quest for another necro buddy we just killed them all at once. It's very easy.
