Should I Practice Researching?

I am a lvl 23 and have been able to get lucky and buy most of my spells up to now save some of the more ridiculously priced ones... I bought the practice book so that I could try and get research skill up before losing words to 'you lacked the skills to combine the items' :angry: :o :angry: Anyway, the components for research are sometime hard to find..

Anyone else doing this? Or should I just use the words and hope for the best?
