pet level

I was just putting around when I looked at this but has any1 seen that our lvl 90 pet is really at lvl 85 ? I took of my EM focus when I did this and summoned a new lvl 90 pet , had my lvl 85 cleric sitting there and when it popped up I targeted it with him. What ya know it con even to the cleric. So what gives with this ?

As far as I recall, the spell level never equated to the level of pet summoned.

That is standard. Your 81-85 pet is level 80 base. Your level 76-80 pet is level 75 base, etc. Pet base levels lag player max levels by 5. You'll need current raid foci to have an even con pet at level 90.

Pet focus can increase level of pet.

Long ago pets were summoned in a random range, and I'd summon over and over on my mage until I got the highest level pet. No more, pets come out fixed level now.
