Hello; At 52 on Xegony server, I've finally decided to try and join a guild..
My reasoning that I want this is because, More Content in Old world style of play. Kael Drakkel, Ntov. Earlier progression to PoP.

My style of Play up to now, 3 years running has been solo. Ranger; Druid, Necro. All in the 50's. I have joined several guilds in past and they Invariably turn out to be chat guilds; If I wanted to chat while playing I'd pick up the telephone. One finger typist here. 25 words a minute LOOKING at Key board.

What I'm looking for here is Ideas or keywords to keep an eye open as I apply to guilds on my server; Xegony. As, Example. I know lots of Guild names on server, know most of the requirements. BUT; they're not always what is advertized or What I thought they would be.......

Further Example; We are a Raiding Guild looking at Kael, Thanks for Joining us.. Average LvL is 30 and they are months away...

Or, The Guild that has Mostly Alts. Example; We have over 179 Members. Cool We'll be raiding a lot, says I. And its ALL Alts, 40+ active members and the rest long gone except trace elements. Oh yeah; The 40+ active members are not on at the same time....

I have to admit, Being a Soloist is Damn Cool... But; Buying everything I have is Trecherous, As much as I hate to say it. Gotta Raid to get the REAL UBER loots...

So I am Asking.. How and What Is the Best way to find that guild?

I'm looking at Guildmagic to locate Guild addys, Check the website they have. and see what I can contribute; Any other Ideas?

And as well, Any Ideas on those Key Words? Raiding, Friendly, Family, Great group of people, Don't be offended, We Took Down, We are not a Raiding guild and my personal Favorite; We are a Great bunch of people, Do you have a Photo?

Just looking for A guild, Something Whispers Can Contribute to and Without the Hassle of BS; She Helps out, Gets Help in return. I always thought that was the concept of Guild, Was I wrong??????

I found my guild simply by talking to people. They approached me and it's been a good match for quite some time now. If your tired of waiting, I'd goto your server specific forum and look at what people are saying about the guilds and it's members pertaining to your server. Then find out which ones have an acceptable reputation (that you WILL inherit) and see if they're recruiting. Play with them alot, and if you see they consistently "have to raid" at 7pm each day, or atleast several times a week, tell them your interested in raiding, and thinking about joining a guild, and see where that takes you.

I can't even think of one good reason a guild would recruit /ooc in PoK, alot seem to, but that seems like a relationship destined to fail. A guild recruits people, but the recruit also decides whether or not they want to complete recruitment or would rather move on. Developing a repoire with people before anything is posted/written on the guild message board, is a good way to feel out the guild, and them get to know you, while not creating any bad blood if you decide to go another direction. Keep in mind, at level 52 your options may be severely limited, most established guilds, that raid to advance require recruits to have advanced themselves quite a good bit before being accepted as a member.

Go into anything with your eyes open, and listen to what people say, but grouping and actually spending time with members of a guild is the only way to really know if your gonna want to stick around for any length of time. It sounds alot like dating heh...just don't "jump into bed" (join the guild) too hastily. (I'm a 26 year old guy, and I don't think I ever said or wrote that before....LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!)

I ended up joining the guild I now lead because I found myself grouping with people with that tag and found them fun, competent players.

I would recommend grouping with people for a while, and asking them about their tags. Or, get a list of guilds that sound like they might potentially be right for you from your server board or guild magic or some site like that, but make sure you talk to several of their players in-game. Do a /who all GUILD and just start sending tells to people with tags up identifying yourself as someone interested in their guild and how do they feel about it, and eventualy talk to the recruitment lead or officers or the leader. Some of the questions I would find most important to have answered before joining would be

How many people are online during your playtimes?
How many of those people are within a certain level range close to yours?
How many people are in the guild list?
How many of those have logged in in the past day, or past week?
How many of the people in the list are alts?
What was the last raid they did and when was it? Was it a success?
What is the next raid they have planned and when?
Do they have a requirement that they do a certain amount of raids/events per week or month?
Is the guild growing, or does it stay at a consistent level?
How long has the guild been around? and how long has it had its current leadership? (New leadership is not necessarily bad but it does mean there may be some changes in the guild from what their reputation and raiding had been)
What is the goal of the guild?
What is their website?

As a guild leader I can tell you that I expect people interested in joining the guild to ask at the very least a few of these question, if they don't I worry about their quality as a player. In asking them, you also get a good feeling for how friendly the guild is and how much energy and enthusiasm they have for the guild. And if you can possibly group with them before joining, you will get a sense of how they work together and how they interact, which is really helpful in deciding if it is a place you would fit in and if it is what you are looking for.
