Lately I have been wondering if anyone really plays the oppisite sex. I mean it is more of a roleplaying thing and who really roleplays anymore? All my charaters are male, like me. Except my bazaar trader =)
Anyway just vote and see if anyone does really.

I don't really think it matter if a player is the same sex as their avatar. Because in the end it is just a really addictive game. I know guys in my guild who have lots of both sexes as characters. I know women who only play male avatars. I know men who only play female avatars. I think it is really just a personal choice for each person.
Cheers,

I started a dorf pally, because I always wanted one in D&D, and they just weren't allowed back when I had time to play. Played a couple things, didn't care for them much.
Found a site that described shaman as some of the "nastiest and toughest things to kill on the face of Norrath." Well, that described an old friend's cat... and so I named my shaman after the cat. As the cat happened to be female, so did my shaman. And whaddaya know... up through Velious, shaman WERE some of the nastiest and toughest things to kill on the face of Norrath. I considered rerolling several times, but could never bring myself to do it... especially since I'm a diehard 3rd person cam user, and Shandy is SO much nicer to look at than, say, some Northman named "Grunty McWhorter." Don't ask.
Later, my wife started a monk, and abandoned the game. So, I inherited a female monk... who I like playing almost as much as I like shamaning and being Fizzy.

Mix. Of my two main characters (both Dark Elves), the Necro is male and the Mage is female, for the others the gender depends on which player model I liked the most.

I play my own sex (male) but have a friend who swears that his attractive female toons get more groups and are generally helped a lot more in-game. Shows what a sexist mob we still are!

My 2 main toons are male. I have a female chanter and a female trader. Sex sells.
One thing I found out when I made the chanter is that you get a lot of free items while standing around by a bank being a female toon.

I have a female cleric (retired) and wizard. I RP both of them. All the rest of my toons are male. I have to say some of the funniest things I have seen was being hit on by a female playing a male toon or being hit on my a male by a female toon. (yes it has happened) All I could do at that time was LMAO. I got 6 toons all together. 4 are male and 2 are female.
Female toons do get handed items faster then a male toon will.

I'm female, and all the characters I've played past level 6 are female. I think that depends a lot on the race though, because every time I've made an Iksar I've made it male, I've just never ended up playing them.
I do remember when I was learning the game one time a male player came and rescued me from some mob and started binding wound for me, just randomly, and when I asked my bf why the guy would do that, he said cuz I was a female character. And I've had to fend off my fair share of males who head off to xp with me and then want to sit facing each other and chatting instead of killing mobs when we get there.
I guess the thing that throws me off most though, is that the main characters my bf plays are male, but he has a female bard he brings out when I need something in particular that only a bard can do. I have a set of emotes I use everytime I run into one of his characters in Norrath, and I still feel weird walking up to his female character and
/em humps %t like the horny dog she is
or
/kiss
/em drops to her knees and kisses %t somewhere a lot more fun

Aryse never kissed my gnomer arse anywhere fun! <_<
I have always played male characters, only females ive had are bazarr traders. I just would feel really weird roleplaying a female, or going along with other males flirting with me to get gear :) Not down with that, I only swing one way. Not that I'm saying those who play female characters and are male are gay or anything. Just wouldnt work for me personaly. Everyone to their own. However, I REALLY dont like the idea of flirting with a female character whose actually male, that is not cool.

All my toons are male.I think its a little creepy when guys play a female toon just to get stuff...or when guys give something to a player just because it's a female toon.<shrug> to each his own.

Volstadd, like me, is a male...I must admit that I am more likely to research a spell or save a female noob over a male one....even my gnome is a chauvinist! ha!
I just think (unless roleplaying) by playing your own sex it is easier to know what you get out of your groups...guys tend to be more immature, girls generally work better in a team...
Now guys, I am not dissing you, but it is true...and it is entirely more pimp coming out of a dungeon with a few ladies on your arms... B)

My first major character, I played an Iksar monk... it wasn't until I got Luclin models did I notice that my monk was a female... ack! I didn't roleplay as a girl and if someone ever hit on me (which did happen :( ) I was very open about telling them so...
But on the same side... I continuously told this one person that I was not female in real life and he continuously bought me in game gifts (at on time he purchased a fighting baton and a cane of the tranquil for my monk (at the time it was a 2k gift)).

My main is female but I do have an alt that is a male. I play with him when I get tired of men flirting or hoping for some cyber with my necro. Darn I play her as a totally insane girl who don't give a darn about relations. The only affection she gives out is caressing the skull of her skelly when he does a good job... still have no idea why someone could be attracted to her... Anyway I don't find it hard to play the opposite sex, I have been a roleplayer for more then 10 years (tabletop rpg and larps) so I guess a char is a char. I had women flirting with my male alt and they never realized I was a woman. (I know we goths are twisted).

I think the strangest flirting I have seen yet was when I was on my wizard and had a female toon start flirting with me. At first I figured that they were just joking around but I later found it was a guy and he was serious.
My toon's gender usually sways towards whatever the name I have in mind lending towards.

ok to put my 2 cents worth in all my toons are guys except my bazaar vendor who is female but I guess to each his/her own although I must agree with Volstadd:

speaking from experience here, been in Eq for 4 and half years and seen many come and go and by far I must admit girls generally stay focused much more on the task at hand then the guys but thats just my opnion so do with it what you will.

I have several Alts that are female. But all my "main" characters are male. I honestly have no problem playing a female character, they are certainly much easier on the eyes (well... cept for the Troll wenches  ). I do have a problem with guys (or gals) that play a female toon for special consideration, free stuff, etc. It happens, it's happened to me many times when I've played a female character. I even had a male Paladin telling me I was so hot (Wood Elf, heh) and could he have my email address. So if I do play a female character and I'm grouping, I let the group know I'm male in RL getting "in touch" with my feminine side. Saves alot of embarrassment later :P

Well, strangely enough, I always start out play female characters, and get tired of being hit on, was even KSed alot in the name of someone "helping me out". So after I got tired of that I made a male bard...boy life was a different story, but I learned the game that way, and didn't get hit on. Later, me and a friend played, started kitty kat characters, we both LOAO when we realized I had accidently made a male character and he made a female character LOL, and then my male kitty kat always got hit on by other female kitty cats!!!!!!! I had no idea how to handle that. LOL When I made my Ikky necro, I didn't like the ikky femail models, so my necro is male. In the end its just a game, Play how I like, mostly don't care if they know its a female playing a male character, but the funnest thing to happen is to get in a group and people claim all female characters are played by male, and you are a female playing a male, they seem to be few and far between. But most of my guy friends have both male and female characters, and most of them don't want you to know its a male but will role play the part, its a lot of fun if we are on the speaker phone at the same time, I can give them some helpful hints LMAO.
