What's a fair price to offer someone to sac tem for Eseence Emerald's?
I haven't had any need for them until today during a wipe and we couldn't get the clerics rezzed and twitched quick enough before we wiped again and had to go on coffin runs...

200-300p on Brell. I would imagine that to be about the average. I just usually sac an alt on my 2nd account, so I've never paid anything for an EE; but when I see necros in /ooc trying to buy sacs that usually the price range that I see.

Really, That's what I started offering guildies and they told me to get real. Found them in the Bazaar on my server for 350pp. I guess my guildies are just greedy, lol.
I tried to reason with them. On average, I pay 100pp to a cleric for a rez. If I don't get a rezz, that lost XP saved me 100pp. Now I'm paying 3 times that worth for their lost XP. I dunno, makes sense in my head anyways. Thought I'd be able to save 50 plat a EE, which adds up. Guess I'll just have to get a second account and PL a ranger or something just to sac...

I have never paid a single plat for an Essence Emerald...and I have nearly 5 stacks of them currently.
What you do, is when you find people that are offering to be sac'd for plat tell them that you will do this.
Gneville tells Sacrificial Player, "I will pay for all the Emeralds, and we will split the EE's 50/50 down the middle, ok?"
Sacifical Player tells Gneville, "Naah, I can get like 150-200pp cash each for the sacrifices."
Gneville tells Sacrificial Player, "OK, but if you just left your character in the bazaar in /TRADER mode overnight you could sell them all for about 300-350pp each."
Sacrifical Player tells Gneville, "Fine, where do you want to meet?"
...
At this point make sure you have a reagent conservation III item from Mage or whatever and start casting. The RC-III will save you about 15% of your Emeralds over the entire session saving you even more plat.
I can do this about once or twice a month for 2-3 stacks each.

Unless i'm in a very good mood, they're going to replace my fuggan EE for a rez. Even though (using my strategy) i didn't pay for them, handing them out for free would devalue their worth and screw yet another portion of the games economy.
You want NECRO rez..350pp please. Oh, you'll pay me after you loot? Loot your coin and then pay me.

"What's a fair price to offer someone to sac tem for Eseence Emerald's?"
Not to sound too n00b-ish but what are EE's for and how do they relate to us, (necros)?
"I haven't had any need for them until today during a wipe and we couldn't get the clerics rezzed and twitched quick enough before we wiped again and had to go on coffin runs..."
Wipe=???
Clerics rezzed and twitched=??? (rezzed to me means resurect, but twitched??)
Coffin runs=??? (Camping some mobs for thier stuff I imagine, but what for and how does it relate to the rest of the sentance???)
"I just usually sac an alt on my 2nd account, so I've never paid anything for an EE; but when I see necros in /ooc trying to buy sacs that usually the price range that I see. "
sac=??? (At first i thought this might be another term for a mule but reading the rest of that sentance completely shattered that belief)
I hate being a n00b,...if I didn't love my necro so much I'd probably go back to playing AC2 or AO,...

Nothing wrong with being a noobie, at one time it carried no derogatory association as it does now...hopefully the below will shed some light on the terminology.
"Not to sound too n00b-ish but what are EE's for and how do they relate to us, (necros)?"
EE's are Essence Emeralds (http://www.magelo.com/eq_item_info.html?num=9963) and are created by purchasing a regular Emerald from a Jewelry Merchant and then casting the spell Sacrifice on another willing player, who is LVL-46 or higher. This process is called "Sacrificing" or "Sac'ing" for short.
"Wipe=???
Clerics rezzed and twitched=??? (rezzed to me means resurect, but twitched??)"
Necromancer's get a line of spells that fall under the "mana flow" category. The emote message for nearly all of them is PlayerName twitches. so we call the line of spells Twitching for short.
The effect is essentially taking your mana and giving it to your target, at a huge loss for the process. The general ratio hovers near 3::1, and the most commonly used spell in this line costs 300 mana to give your target 100 mana. IT SUCKS and we hate it. But it's useful when the healer is OOM (Out Of Mana).
Often, you will hear Necromancer's ranting about how they are not Mana Batteries, as we are often only asked into groups for this reason alone.
"Coffin runs=???"
Another line of spells necromancers get is called "Summon Corpse", the first popular spell in this line you get is at LVL-39 and works on all levels of players, but requires a Jade Inlaid Coffin (http://www.magelo.com/eq_item_info.html?num=17355) as a component (also called reagent). This component costs, with best charisma and vendor factions, a full 150pp each.
With this spell, you can target a member in your group, and when cast, will summon their corpse from anywhere in the zone. Very useful, but very expensive, and often not repaid.
"sac=???"
As mentioned earlier. Sac'ing means to Sacrifice a player. This is a very serious thing, and people do not let you do this freely, and often require a very heafty fee in exchange for this service...but by doing so, it gives you an Essence Emeralds (http://www.magelo.com/eq_item_info.html?num=9963).
The reason this is so rarely done, and often requires you paying that player a heafty fee is because in order for them to be able to do it they have to be LVL-46 or higher, and it kills them. They lose one full death's worth of experience and they cannot be resurrected.
.....
What are Essence Emeralds (http://www.magelo.com/eq_item_info.html?num=9963) for?
They are used as components serveral various spells necromancers get at LVL-54 and higher. The most common is called Spell: Convergence (http://www.magelo.com/eq_spell_info.jsp?num=1733) which is a 93% Ressurection of a fallen player. The only better percentage of ressurection than this is via the Cleric's Epic weapon, which is 96% (and costs them NOTHING to cast / use...but hey, they're clerics).
Other spells are nice, but rarely used because the EE's are so damn valuable.
...
Hope that helps

Vbcypher - I really appreciate the help. It seems the more I learn about this game, the more questions I have about it.
I guess all things will come in time. I'm a long way off from worrying about EE's or for that matter any spells that are >=L46. One thing I am concerned with especially since I play on Rallos is that when a pc dies he looses "one full death's worth of xp"?
Now since I'm <L10 things have been pretty simple and getting killed is no big deal and in most cases rather fun, hehe, but after I ding L10 I know that the fun REALLY starts. I have noticed, however, that there are periodic automatic text msgs saying that "playername saved" which I assume means that my toon is being autosaved in case of any unplanned deaths. When I have died I haven't seen any noticeable losses of xp so I assume this function is working. But what happens when I hit L10 and above? No more auto saves? If that's the case then how do I save my xp during the coarse of leveling? Right now a level's worth of xp is no big deal but come level 20 or 30 or for that matter level 50, that's a hell of alot of xp to loose.
EDIT: Correct the server I play on.

ok here is the skinny... when you hit lvl 10 you have to loot your corpse or loose everything on it if it rots away. I think it is 30min or so.. the higher your lvl the longer you have to loot your corpse.. when you hit lvl 11 you start to loose xp on every death.. at lower lvls it not much but at higher its 10-12% or more per death.... also eq is not like your turn based games that you have to save on occasion or it auto saves and if you have a nasty death you can reload the last save game. when you die you die only way to get xp back is a rez or earn it back. the gave does save periodically but that is incase the server crashes and they reboot it it will load everythin correctly, the servers actually save alot more then you know cause the servers are constantly syncing with each other they will save there but you dont see it..

The average price on Cazic Thule used to be between 300-400 now people have lost their damn minds and have started to ask anywhere from 500-800p but i sometimes get lucky and can get them for 300-400 still but the price has been raised and i cant figure out why

The reason for the higher prices over the last 2 weeks.. was...
There was a platnum exploit in the game.. you handed a certain NPC 1 gold and got 1 plat in return. The patch last night fixed it.
Hopefully.. prices will be back to some sense of normality soon.

Well, before the introduction of the Bazaar to EQ, I remember when 100pp was a lot to pay for a sac or an EE but now on Torv, they are routinely sold in the Baz for 500pp......sacs cost 200+.
I know of 2 quests that use EEs besides the spells and my best guess for the drastic increase in price is due to the high end game use. If you think about it, using an EE or 2 during a raid/group in which you can make 10k and or get some uber no-drop item, the price is quite nominal.
I like the idea about splitting the final count of EEs produced and will have to attempt that though I usually wait until I find someone desperate enough to sell sacs for 100pp.......oft times during off hours on my server.
I would suggest not trying to get too upset over the cost and learn to deal with it, something I learned not too long ago.
I have come to the conclussion that if you have them, profit from them........period. I recently saw a toon in the Baz /auc sacs and replied. I almost choked when he wanted 250pp per sac. It wasn't the price so much but the fact he actually expected me to pay that much; you see, I had PL'd this 54 Ikky Nec when he was in my guild and the thought of him profitting from my hard work and not willing to cut me a deal was quite dis-tasteful.

I just found out another trick to getting EE's cheap. Someone needs a Summon Corpse, What's the price? Free if you let me Sac you!!! Most people would rather get Sac'd then loose their equipment...

I funny bug that allowed us to crank out a pile of EE's.
A friend was doing a account split. Husband and wife both played and decided they wanted to play at the same time so they moved her toon to a new account.
Well for wahtever reason, the old toon stayed active for almost an entire day while the new one was there. So she got with our higher necro and they sacrifced her about 40 times. She has a pile of EE's now. Not saying you should try this, but if you know a high end looking to split an account talk to them to see if this happens as this is a nive way to make a few useful items.

autosave happens every interval of time where you haven't done anything that should require a serverside save anyway.
Things that usually causes a serverside save of your character file.
#01 - Destroying an item.
#02 - Trading an item with another player.
#03 - Zoning.
#04 - Dieing.
#05 - ???
And the point is not in case you die, or in case you lose connection to the game. It's really an "in case Sony Screws Up" thing, i.e. server crash.
I cannot say that looting or gaining XP always causes a serverside save because I have been hunting in zones when servers have crashed and lost the recently looted items and XP since the last save, but it does do it often enough that you shouldn't be out any real XP or items of value should a server crash.
Hope that helps.

A TRULY EVIL WAY TO GET Essense Emeralds (http://www.magelo.com/eq_item_info.html?num=9963):
#01 - Go to Plane of Knowledge
#02 - Make sure you are /ANONOMOUS
#03 - Say the following in OOC:
/OOC Air Necropolis is now offering free Translotes to Bindpoint for any LVL-46 or higher players for a limited time. (Legal : Air Necropolis is not responsible for lost or misplaced luggage or equipment, nor does it guarantee safe passage to your destination)
#04 - Profit.
...
See, people think you're a wizard being silly and doing a little bit of roleplaying when you send that message. And technically, you are providing the service they think you are. You are TL'ing them to bindpoint. The only difference is that their corpse remains at your feet...and you got an Essence Emerald.
...
Of course, I don't advocate this, you'll really P/O a bunch of people if you really do it, but damn, it is really funny if you do actually do it <grins evilily>
