Hey all. So ya wanna skill up your research do ya?

Heres whatcha do. Go to PoK preferrably (since theres no racial tension) and go down by neriak stone. Theres a building. Find the guy in the building that has (Necromancer Guildmaster) under his name. Right click him as if you were to buy from a merchant. Find where it says research. Glick train skill on research till it is maxed. Note you may need to come back when you get more skill points to spend.

Yep its that easy :P I'm honestly not sure how much it will cost but i think its around 5-10k, easily earned.

This is what I have been doing , I would rather spend a couple plat per skill up then having to pay the big money for the words and have them fail when trying to get a skill up.

200 research, bought and paid for.

No reason to do it any other way, really...

Been maxxed for a while now, and have yet to miss...that includes 2 GDMF's, and my Funeral Pyre...found all words on vendors.

My cost for gdmf and fp combined? Less than 50 plat.

You can all start hating me now.

This method is obviously the fastest and less tedious. As long as you can afford it off course.

When you say 5 to 10 k ... Are you starting at 0 skill, 50 or other skill level ? Id like a precise number if possible. 5 k seems very cheap and considering I am already at 160ish, I could get 200 fairly cheap.

My guess is the higher the skill level the higher the cost right ?

Thanks for the tip !

I got mine to 76 practicing with runes. Gonna buy it up from now on. Just too damn tedious.

At 49 I had done enuf raids to have the words for GDMF, combined the first try, my cost 0 plat, training to 200 the price of the training points, number of failures for creating my lvl 50 spells is at 1. Cost I've paid for my spells over lvl 50 < 50 plat, yes people hate me, I don't mind, I tell them pick up the words or tell me what you are looking for, if I run across it or you have it I'll combine it for free for any fellow necro, to off set the cost of spell. If you buy it at that price, then others will sell it for that much. Only spell I'm looking for is words for Demi-Lich.

Sadly, Presently I'm at EQ stand still, I got hit by a bad virus and I'm rebuilding my computer at home to try and get back on. But if you are on Quel and need a combine leave me a message here, I'll try and get on my roomie's compute and get it to you.

Yeah, it does scale up as it gets higher. I'm afraid I don't recall how much in later levels, but it didn't look prohibitive.

its around 14pp per point when u get around skill 100 i think

Zilly is maxed for 31 (85 maybe?) and it was running 4ppish a point with 117 CHR. The trick is, just like at a vendor, the better your CHR, the lower the training cost.

It's cost ~3k from 0-200 with good charisma...

My last binge went from 110 - 195 for about 2.5k, but 0-100 costs next to nothing, and I figure 196-200 will be in the 50-100 pp range each point, can't remember exactly what 196 is going to cost though.

I've heard people say that trainers are NOT like NPC merchants with a CHA cap on best prices and the more CHA you get, the lower the trianing cost... but I've never seen any hard facts backing that up, so it might be an EQ urban legend...

I've checked the trainer with 60 CHA and 140 CHA. The price didn't change.

Looks like it's dependant on skill level only.

That is probably true, I don't think i visibly noticed a difference when I put on my CHA gear or not...

Charisma tops out at 109 for vendors....after that, your faction is what can and will make a difference.

To prove it...check the purchase price for a Peridot at various Charisma levels with an indifferent merchant. Start low..say 60 and work your way up to 120+. You will notice your best price is achieved at 109.

Well, I will admit, this was determined some 3 years ago and posted on EQTraders back then.....could have changed but I haven't noticed any.

but if ur using percentages with only 10pp as a cost it might not vary that much....try it on something more expensive ill bet it will be different

EQ Traders actually reports that in most cases vendor pricing tops out at 104 charisma with indifferent faction (but there are exceptions that go both ways). You can read their explanation here. (http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=g144?menustr=070000000000 )

Another thing to note about charisma is it seems to be a step scale rather than a sliding one. In other words, you get about the same price for several charisma levels and then it jumps. EQ Traders explains this here. (http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=g190?menustr=070000000000 )

For ultimate prices you need charisma of 132, as this seems to result in best prices everywhere even with apprehensive faction.

I just did 0-200 with 115cha.. Cost 3.3k ..
I started out with 160 training points at level 56, the first point i spent put me at 56 skill. Seems like your first point puts you at a skill level equal to your character's level.
