Hey fellow Necros,
Just wanted to hear from necros who have purchased a horse. What do you think? does it work well with the necro? Does it make it difficult to fear kite?
Obviously I want it for the constant medding, slight speed increase, and mostly because it looks cool. :D Which is probably the highest reason to get one.
Things I've already heard is that its difficult to see past the horses head. Not a real big concern because I don't mind the other views, and they make keyboard shortcuts for targetting...
but what other disadvantages do you see? And from somebody who has one, what do you think?
~Nectarious
ps. I hate the lizards, so don't suggest one

#1 - the cheapest horse is actually slower than newbie run. I don't know where the misconception about it being faster came from, but until you get in the 30,000pp horse range, you're getting a SLOWER than run speed mount.
HOWEVER...
You do still get the benefit on constant meditation on the mount, and there seems to be somewhat of less aggro when you cast a spell on a mob when on a mount IF your not solo'ing it.
#2 - you will quickly realize that you just plain cannot use it when you're solo'ing. The ramp up time required to get to full speed is so damn slow you will have a mob beating the hell out of you before you can get away, and since SoW / JBoots do not affect mount speed, you're running slower than run still so you cannot get away.
#3 - Horses suck. Get a lizard-mount instead, it has no "head in view" issues like a horse...even if you hate the lizards.

I think that the mounts help a whole bunch, and the dragmors are way better. I think that the mounts help quite a bit in soloing, all you need to do is get a constant place to pull to. And you don't notice the speed to much when your in a small place. Overall if I made a new necro a new mount would be one of the first things on my to-do list. It also helps a lot when you are using lich, you lose a bit less life sitting on a mount then having to stand to move and cast. A must have!

I love my horse to death personally, best piece of loot i've ever taken. But on the other hand like they said the speed up/slow down times are terrible so i don't use it that much solo'ing just when i'm running from place to place or if i somehow end up in an outdoors group. Strafe running helps them get started a little faster tho just fyi.

These are some things that I believe to be true. Please correct me if anyone knows the facts.
1) Sitting on a Horse/Drogmoor regens mana only the same as sitting. Regen will be the same as standing regen.
2) Mana regen is only increased when horse/drogmoor is stopped. If moving or attacking you will get the standing mana regen rate.
3) Horse downside is large obtrusive head. Drogmoor downside is the "bucking bronco" effect while running.
4) Horse head can be virtually eliminated from view if you shrink yourself while on horse. Unfortunately for Necro, shrink wears off everytime that Lich wears off. This can get expensive.
5) 9K horse/drogmoor is like Run 1, 30k is like SoW speed, 70k is like SoE speed, 100k is like bard speed.
6) Either Horse or Drogmoor will greatly reduce aggro in group situation in comparison to sitting.
7) You can't use them indoors.
8) You can't summon horse/drogmoor while in Spectre form unless you use a trick (cast ignite bones on yourself, turn into skele, summon horsie, when skele wears off you are still on mount.)
I have personally had the 9k drogmoor for a long time. I love mine and have used it quite a bit. I am currently considering getting the 100k horse.
I would highly recommend the 9K Drogmoor for group situations. Anything higher than the 9k is a waste of money unless you can afford the 100k.

I'm also told the drogs use more food than horses do....anyone know if this is true?
I have a 70k drog, didn't need bard speed, and SOE speed will do, I use it for long runs. Though can be used in outdoor groups I usually only have it up if I don't have sow, because of the regen hp factor. I always have it away if I'm helping with healing. I do find it hard to do detailed stuff on the drog, like looting, and clicking on books still. drog while grouping is great I can still target what I need to and move, do I use it all the time, its nice outdoors, but can sometimes get in others way, I try and be considerate of the rest of the group, so it depends on the group and circumstances. It was also easier to farm the plat than it was to farm for Jboots or I would have gotten those. The speed up and down is a pain, but the bobbing of the drog is no different than the bouncing of dmf. (at least to me)

I got the 11k one. It's real choppy while runing and pretty slow, looks funny though. Great for grouping outdoors, never got aggro unless my Debuff didn't stick twice, was great not having to have to get up when the pull comes in and wait till 80% and then sit and then get up to cast and wait and sit and get up and cast and wait til dead and sit and wait till pull message comes and get up...

I bought the horse, I was happy, I was flying to the places I wanted to get to, then someone showed me how to lag myself out while casting horse and then once lag snapped out, my horse would speed instantly and stop instantly so I used it to kite and everything was great in pofire, once that was fixed almost was dependant on the horse but kicked out and now fight with no horse and all, and only during raids will i use the horse for the regen, there is a great difference with regn while mana batterying myself out, and i dont need to move lots just park myself near the clerics and do whatever,.
