Okay, first of all this is just an addition to Lucera's guide on Riwwi found here...

Lucera's Riwwi Guide (with pictures!):
http://web.syr.edu/~tjmyers/platfarm/riwwi.html

Warning/Rumors/Etc.

First I'd like to forwarn people that according to Lucera the spawn rate of nameds in the collesium has been nerfed. In otherwords you wont see nameds walking out as much, however I still have faith in this zone even though I'm new to it myself.

My theory behind this camp now that its no longer "uber drop rates" is you get some incredibly easy and brainless exp(easier than HoH) all while having a slight chance of looting a large number of random 20-100k items. Therefor, if youre there for the exp, you wont be dissapointed when you spend a long time without any drops, but hey...you may just get lucky and loot a 75k item! Sure as hell beats soloing HoH with no chance of any decent loot besides parchments.

First, follow Lucera's basic guide...there are pictures on where to set up camp, and where the gladiators will be coming from, as soon as you kite your first few mobs youll get the hang of it right away.

Set up your camp in the collesium on the rubble as instructed by Lucera. Wait for the first gladiators to walk out of points A. One of the most important things I noticed here is timing the gladiators. This is because it is very likely you will have 2 gladiators in the arena close to the same time. Also they are only in the arena for a couple of minutes. They walk in slowly, kill a few slaves, and then walk back into the entrances. If you miss a named, you will have missed a very rare and valuable occurance...so pay attention. I beileve they are on a 15 minute timer, seems pretty static.

About the guards...

Okay, the guards are your exp while you wait for the gladiators to spawn. They are single pullable from your rubble pile. I highly reccommend an extended range item to help with pulls. This allows you to pull from rubble with darkness, and get horror off before they get to you which makes soloing here very easy. I reccommend you have horror, however I think its doable with FP, dark plague, and maybe splurt too.

Here is my method...

-Pull with darkness(I use dooming because I havent bought embracing yet).
-Cast horror
-Send pet
-Cast Dark Plague
-Cast Funeral Pyre
-Cast Saryn's Kiss as needed
-Cast horror again...

Watch them him die.

With shitty gear, and limited self buffed HPs I was able to hold all 4 guards easily. They give about .5-.75% exp per kill so 2 of them usually nets at least 1%. Not bad considering its so easy and youve got chances of looting some great sellable gear.

Gladiators/Nameds

Nameds are anything that walks out of the arena tunnels without an "a" or "an" in front of it.

These guys are obviously more difficult than the guards. They seem to be on a 15 minute timer and they will walk through the gates 1 from each side. Sometimes there are two in the arena at once so be careful.

Skull-Caped Vampire Guys...

These are nasty...as written by Lucera. They cast a snare-like dot that does some decent damage and is very hard to resist. His strategy is to root cook them, keeping snare on too. I havent tried this yet because I dont have pet hold ability so im affraid I'd just lose bet attempting them. Also the first time I did try them, I EQ crashed and I died.

Masochistic Medics

These run at sow speed, and still run fast when snared. Be sure to keep on your toes and get a good distance away when casting spells...either have an extended range item handy, or casting time reduction item. They also can cast a poison dot that hurts...not sure how much it does, but it seems about 100-200 per tic, and some kind of horror spell which i have no idea what it does but I usualy resist it.

There are other gladiator types, however I'm not sure what they do or what their special abilities are because Ive only been camping the place for a few hours.

Please feel free to ask any questions, add anything, or make any suggestions.

Ive been here once or twice, and frankly I just ignore everything except for the nameds. I haven't gotten any so far however, so I can't really post anything on there, ill send an extra reply when I do. The mobs here double for about 700-800, so although you will probably survive one round with virtue on, I doubt you will survive another. in otherwords turn everything DOWN, DOWN DOWN before coming here, because lag = death. I just take the gate guards while waiting for any nameds to come through, as lucera said they drop some pretty nice drops, however I have yet to get any yet (half the guild is fawning over me for one of those +15 regen +15 all stats tunics if it ever gets to drop tho). Bottom line is just wait for the names to spawn, the gate guards should keep you company until they come. Also keep a sharp eye out you don't want to be kiting and for another mob to come through, if you get unlucky enough to get two names I suggest just rooting one until you are done with the other, might be a bit mana inefficient but about the only way to do it.

Well so far its been okay...exp is good if you can stay alive.

The trouble is...at least on my server, i crash here more than any other zone in EQ. I just logged on this morning, ran all the way there...set up camp, buffed pet...then crashed as of this writing. Im ready to kill somone. Fuking sony needs to refund my money like now.

Alright,

Lucera's guide is pretty dead on. The named don't spawn quite as much as s/he lead me to believe, but I coulda just had bad luck. The guardians are cake, and I always keep atleast one side clear so you have more room to kite without getting adds, so when a named does walk into the arena you can have the most room available to you.

The named snake lady with pets is a pain in the ass. The pets are rootable, I suggest sacrificing your pet and snaring her first, then rooting the one your pet is about to die to. Yes it is gonna die (your pet). She hit me for 1200, which is pretty damned impressive with the aa's and mitigation I thought I had, and she did it several times. I seriously smiled IRL when she died. Then I killed her pissy little nothing of a pet. Nice blue con... The Mastruq named never hit me...never even got close. Kite him, root him...it doesn't matter he's an after-thought, and a short one at that.

The medics with pets can be a pain...but just root them both, snare them both and then horror, night fire, fpok, sk, bot the pet...and then hit up the medic chain tapping/nuking until root breaks. Wtd the dead, sic pet once he's not rooted and burn him down. He may heal...I didn't really notice, I did notice though his hps are fairly low by comparison. Either that or critical affliction just rolled well on those mobs...they didn't last long.

This is an easy easy camp with the exception of the snake named gladiator, and something most necros should be able to do. Keep dmf up, and get Swift Journey 2 and you should have little to no problem if you follow the guide, and excersize a bit more caution then I did (when I got hit). Becarefull kiting around the rubble...if the pathing solution you give the mobs there isn't free of obstruction/walls it WILL warp or dance back and forth and then warp...leaving you guessing where it went, which has a tendancy to be painfull.

Spent quite a bit of time in this zone before the named nerfs, have managed to get the nd caster robe and mellee bp both of which came from converted labourers, coincedence or not i dont know, and yes i had my chanter and monk parked there just in case :P

As for the named, how i kill them is as follow, any of the mobs that come out will attack the slaves, wait for them to attack the slaves, the moment they attack the slaves cast root, if it fails it doesnt matter, because the mob will not pay you any attention until it has killed the slave or slaves it is currently engaging, this gives you time to recast root and then dark it, then kite or root dot them.

The same applies if the named has a pet, wait until it attacks a slave, root the pet and then root the named, this then gives you time to dark em both or root cook them, all mobs have low hps so it doesnt take much to kill them, the pets are very low.

Have also picked up the 2 hp regen gloves twice, 5 sets of hardened serpent scale pants and various other items.
