FD splitting is a really nice way to break that multi mob camp. I will talk about the easy ways to do it as there were a couple posts that asked about this. To practice this fine art I reccomend you become aquainted with FD and how it effects agro. Go to a newbie zone and do some experiments. root a mob... then FD. Notice that when you get back up the mob is still rooted... but lost agro twords you.

easist way to tell if it worked. when you root a mob you will notice that even though they cannot physically move twords you, they will turn and imidiatly face you. When you do a succesful agro wipe by FD or Screaming terror the mob will turn back to its original position.

I find that on two spawn camps there are several ways to split a camp. My favorite is to root one of them. This will cause the other mob not rooted to come after your arse! pull this mob far away and FD then get right back up. if it worked right you will notice the rooted mob is no longer agrod on you by facing its original position [ another technique to tell if agro is lost is by making an assit %T key and assist the mob. If agro is cleared you will have no target...] walla! single pull

or there is the dot.. pull X mobs method. I use this if there are more than two. I load up my longest DOT and Dot the one I wish to fight. Notice how all his friends including the one I doted will hunt you like a dog :) pull this angry army far away from thier spawn points and FD. Note that the one you dotted will stand and not go back to orignal place [ until your dot wears off ]. Stay FD for a while.. this value of time is tricky to measure... You don't want your pet to die... but you want to clear agro on other mobs. You just have to practice.

You can use a combination of the two strategies above for 3 or more by rooting one you do not wish to fight. Pull far away and FD... Soon as you FD BOTH mobs will start to wander back. [ also hopefully rooted mob is agro wiped ] cast root on one of the two that followed you and back up again far away and FD again.

Agro is a HUGE part of this game and the earlier you learn to controll it... The better player you will be. Note that rules on agro change in some zones or better put in some expansions. for instance "old world" zones are easiest to master this art.

Thank you!

Couple quick notes, as brought up by others here:

- Our pets live past the "Your enemies have forgotten you." Not for long, but they do.

- You don't have to run that far from the critters camp before you FD. In fact, the closer you are to the critter spawn point, the better your chances of them resetting before the 2 min mem-wipe.

- Learn the zone. Like he said, different zones do different things. I've had the critter I Darkened go back and leave the whole and hearty critter there. (Dulak fish guys, it was.)

Actually from level 35+ the mobs have to "reset" for you to lose aggro, or you have to wait for 2 minutes if they wander. If they reset you will NOT get the message after 2 minutes, so be careful from that. My personal (and what everybody else should do) is either the dot-split or mez-split. Note that you HAVE to do a snare-dot for the dot technique to work, just dot one, run back a bit and fd. You will see the mob that you didn't want go back, and you will know when he resets is if he goes back to where he originally came from and turns back to his original position. The other mob will just stay there, but thats because he is attempting to WALK (not run) back and that, like when in run mode, prevents him from moving. Then just stand up and he should reaggro, and you are set.

Mez split can really only be used against undead or levels 55 mobs and under, because otherwise our mezzes don't work. You do this the same as dot, but you mezz the mob you DON'T want. Then you run back a bit, do whatever you want, but make sure you FD around the time the mezz wears off. Since the mob is still i the position that it started out from, it insta-resets, and it is a lot more efficient then other splitting methods. However the only problem is that you can only really use the mez split, at higher levels, in veksar because anywhere else your pet will get PWNED in 2 seconds while yo uare fd, or the mob will forget you and stay at 100% health while you wait for the mezz to go.

I don't think all zones are effected by the 35+ reset rule as I lose agro alot times without getting the message it's clear. I am very impatient LoL. I will usually only stay FD until the button re-enables then pop up, if the mob has not lost agro rinse and repeat.

another interesting rule is if the mob is a wanderer with no home point sometimes they will just stand there after you FD hehe this sticks! This is unique to some zones... can't remember off the top of my head but ykesha zones sound familiar.

I have heard of quite a few foks using the root /FD in veskar including myself. I am not high enough to get the undead mez yet. soon though :)

A couple of observations, and I welcome any advise or insight.....first, I think FD is at it's best if you can get it off BEFORE the mob gets to you. It use to frustrate me trying to cast FD while mobs were beating on me, seems like it rarely fooled them. I have died many times trying to FD while under attack. SO, if you are trying to escape death, if possible, try to get some distance between you and the mob before casting if you can. Second, FD is real iffy for pulling casters. I don't know if it's because their cast was in progress when you FD or what, but it seems that the mob stops, as if FD has worked, then all of a sudden the spell hits you, and the attack is back on. I have had little success with FD and the casting Thought Horrors in the back of the Deep. And last, I really hate that when you cast FD, and it doesn't fool the mob, you can't just recast, but have to do the stand-up thing before you can recast.....yuk.

I'm glad I have it. It has saved me many times, as well as made me the only survivor of a raid party from time to time, to rezz the cleric, and save us all alot of running..but I sure wish it was a skill instead of a spell.
