Hopefully everyone has been keeping up with the new exciting melee changes coming to Everquest. Without going into the whole topic, there is one point of interest for us Necros that I have not seen addressed anywhere.
In order for melee classes to use their new skills (but not over-use them), Sony will be changing out Stamina for something like a melee version of mana called Endurance. Just so we are clear, here is a quote from a Sony developer:
"Yes, Endurance will completely replace Stamina. Some of the occasions that used Stamina in the old system will no longer require the expenditure of a resource. For example, swimming will no longer use a resource."
... and also:
"All classes get an Endurance bar and an Endurance pool. So everyone can still jump."
So there you have it... Stamina is completely gone.
Now the part I DON'T see mentioned anywhere is this: In the old and current system, HP is almost entirely based on STA. More STA = More HP. We necros need HP for Liching. So we spend AA on Innate Stamina. We rely on buffs that increase Stamina. We buy armor with Stamina on it. But read on with another quote:
"Since we are removing Stamina, there won't be any value to spells that affect Stamina."
... and
"Just exchanging the Stamina effects with Endurance effects wouldn't allow us any control over the balance of the new system and its interaction with spells."
So what happens to the STA augmentation to gain HP? Has anyone read up on how this affects us Necros?
I have some AA points to spend (beyond RS3 and Regen). I was going to spend them on INT and STA. Now I am concerned that I will loose the value of the points on STA with the big change coming (some sites say this will happen as soon as December 17!).
Thanks for any light you guys shed on this!
