View Full Version : New Melee Changes and how they affect us...

Hopefully everyone has been keeping up with the new exciting melee changes coming to Everquest. Without going into the whole topic, there is one point of interest for us Necros that I have not seen addressed anywhere.

In order for melee classes to use their new skills (but not over-use them), Sony will be changing out Stamina for something like a melee version of mana called Endurance. Just so we are clear, here is a quote from a Sony developer:

"Yes, Endurance will completely replace Stamina. Some of the occasions that used Stamina in the old system will no longer require the expenditure of a resource. For example, swimming will no longer use a resource."

... and also:

"All classes get an Endurance bar and an Endurance pool. So everyone can still jump."

So there you have it... Stamina is completely gone.

Now the part I DON'T see mentioned anywhere is this: In the old and current system, HP is almost entirely based on STA. More STA = More HP. We necros need HP for Liching. So we spend AA on Innate Stamina. We rely on buffs that increase Stamina. We buy armor with Stamina on it. But read on with another quote:

"Since we are removing Stamina, there won't be any value to spells that affect Stamina."

... and

"Just exchanging the Stamina effects with Endurance effects wouldn't allow us any control over the balance of the new system and its interaction with spells."

So what happens to the STA augmentation to gain HP? Has anyone read up on how this affects us Necros?

I have some AA points to spend (beyond RS3 and Regen). I was going to spend them on INT and STA. Now I am concerned that I will loose the value of the points on STA with the big change coming (some sites say this will happen as soon as December 17!).

Thanks for any light you guys shed on this!

im pretty sure you're mixing this up...

what they are talking about is the stamina bar... the yellow bar under the mana bar that goes down when you jump and stuff

what you're thinking of is stamina the stat... they arent changing anything that has to do with this hehe

just to clearify

I know this is a concern of many shamans, for one they are concerned that sony will be taking away one of thier buffs, and when endurance type spells come available that they wont give them to shaman.

the one thing that SOE needs to clarify is are they leaving the STA stat.. and are they removing all STA spells and effects. or just the spells that help "regen" the yellow bar..

shaman have 2 types of STA spells one increases the stat and one that basically regens the yellow bar... one they care less about but the other they truely care about and so do the meles/casters.. and that is the one that increases your hp...

I have been clarifying this on nearly every board I participate on.

It's a mix up in duplicated terminology people.

#1 Stamina = A Statistic that determines your HP / AC / etc.
#2 Stamina = A Yellow bar that determines your fatigue level from swinging a weapon, swimming, or jumping too much.

The second type of stamina should have been called Fatigue or Endurance from Day #01 they are finally getting around to clarifying this.

...
Secondly, when they say they are wiping all spells that effect stamina...once again they are referring to Type #2 Stamina (fatigue bar)...in this case they are talking about the "Vigor" line of spells.

So are we safe in spending AA points on STA to increase HP?

What this DOES mean for us...is that Warriors will now SUCK to /DUEL or PvP with. With their new advanced abilities once they get in range they will likely EAT us.

I will have to do serveral duels with them to test out their new abilities in terms of how it will hurt me.
