nomore waiting for hours for a port to SB
TANGENT (somewhat): You do know it takes all of 5 mins, maybe less, to run from PoK to SB right?
Here's the orginal sources of your article:

...and one to REALLY take note of...
- Necromancer pets will no longer despawn after 2 minutes when their master is feigned.

I like to run to gunthak. I summon a pet in the warrens on the way and have gober kill every kobold I see. I walk through to the SB ZL and pause a bit and then zone. Allows me to get some faction for my hole key without really trying.

Aye, the run to Gunthak is nothing at all. I would rather run it instead of shouting for a port all the time. Just something else SoE implanted to help out with the laziness of players now-a-days.

the stone to guntak is still gonan help on grouping and players actually bothering about guntak. I mean the way it is now i usually am LFG in pok due to ease of travel. And spending the time to walk the entire way past paineel etc is just a pain. i want as much bang for my buck when i play. When im on for liek an hour spending 10 to 20 mins on traveing to and from Guntak puts it waaaay down on my list. I leveled my pallie from 1 to 52 by never having to zone more then 2 times away from pok and most times once.

Another very nice thing about the portal is that there are a lot of no-drop tradeskill ingredients only available in Gunthak (not even in Abysmal Sea). For one of my tradeskilling alts, she was too low to make it through the warrens on her own, as there are some see-invis in there. And I just don't ever bother with ports, so at least now I can make that tradeskill stuff.

LOL
I can *definitely* tell you didn't play a Wood Elf, High Elf, Gnome, or Dwarf back in the days where boat or expensive ports was the ONLY way to get to the Oasis (the defacto xp spot back then).

/sigh
Exploration is a lost concept.... I guess the next PoK stones are going to VP, ST and VT?
It would be funny one day if they locked down all the portals in PoK except the Nexus and PoTranq. I would love to read all the /ooc's, /shouts, etc from people ranting that they dont know where to go.

aaah remember the days of running from freeport to qeynos? back when i first made my very first character, a little wood elf druid...hadn't gotten any gate spells....boy was that an exciting run, back when the karanas were green..ya'll remember that? the plague?
now, shoot i like the idea of a gunthak stone..i'm lazy ;) and i've done my time in the warrens...amiable in paineel *shrugs*
i'd also like a stone in grimling forest lol...i hate that freaking run...
maybe if they were to make it where you had to have so much exp in a certain zone to use the portal...you have to know enough about the route to be able to activate the portal...that would be cool..i like exploring new places, its the old ones i've been to a million times, and having to zone 15 times to get there...that gets old

I truly loved the way they did Velious. To port there, you had to get there first.
They should do that with all the expansions. Can't be ported there til you've picked up a key and unlocked the portal. Should be a cinch with keyrings and flags now.

Playing on PvP server books tend to be unusable at times as they are camped by the other teams. I can't count the number of times I've explained to someone a different way to get to their destination - or better yet, taken them in a 'back entrance' to the zone, summoned their corpse to that ZL and out from under the feet of the PKers at the book. And I by no means would consider myself very familiar with the geography and how the different areas are related/connected. I just have no idea how people on PvP servers survive without at least a few basics.

Ahh, great idea Fizz. That was a good way to do it. Of course they later catered to the whiners again and made the GD, IC, WL, CS keys obsolete.
I guess I dont agree with making the content so accessible. Some things should be a challenge, or require a scenic route, etc. They already added a Stonebrunt port, what more do you want? Why not just add PoK stones to the other Velious zones, Luclin zones, etc.

Basically teh reason for teh portal beeing implemented is getting ppl around level 40 to go there more. when i reached 40 i got a pop up message saying guntak is a good palce to hunt at this level. basically its a pro Guntak campaign. Getting more people to bother about the darn zone.

If they want people to go there...why not just make it to good to pass up? Better exp, maybe good cash drops, occassional named with loot...usually brings out the masses. EQ's kinda like going on a safari with a Navy Seal team now, when transitting, sure there's lions and tigers and crap...but there's also a man with an m-16 behind ya that never misses.
People used to cringe having to get to rivervale, or run to oggok. Now it's like...point click, and we're there. Then for zones that aren't unlocked and can't be attained through instant travel...there's NOONE in them, because those easy to get to places, have made people lazy.
I miss loading harmshield and hoping it lasts til I get passed such and such spot.

Not to hijack this post of mine, but
Jeb did u get married? In the game i mean. that new sig makes it look that way

look im tired of hearing about the old days when running was fun. thing is what you are missing is the interaction with other players in a non grouping enviroment.
With no bottle necks anymore u dont get any of that forced interaction that many loved so much in the past.
Another thing is the death of teh family guilds. I have been into a few family guilds and found them both fun and interesting, but what alwaysseems to happen is that when peeps start reaching like 50 they wanna do epic and raids. So they skip the fmaily guild for a raid/high end guild.
Now what then irritates me is the fact that they start talking baout the good old days. and talking about how lazy people are now a days. people where always lazy only difference between now and then is that now you have the choice to walk or not. and most ppeople odnt.
Side Note:
yes he got married and yes they are gonna have lots of ugly babies.
Now plz close this thread someone before it ends up in the flaming section.

you're right..how many sat at hhk or wcommons and waited till daylight in kith? how many brief encounters were made in those times? which, later in the game, you run into each other again and are like..damn...i know that guy..where do i know him from? ooh yeah we were waiting for daylight so we could get our corpses from kithicor that one time! lol

Archerphate,
I've actually been married in game almost a year now, my wife just made the sig. It took her a while...but it's just kinda something she wanted to work on and make look good, it's actually the first one she made. She makes more now, so my sig may change but....right now we're both very happy with that one.
Thank you for noticing, she's a constant source of happiness in game for me, and I might not even be playing still if I hadn't met her. I think it's a great thing if you can find a friend (even if only on-line) that you like to share so much of your time with, especially a friend where you both make the other one so happy (no lewd comments please). I wish everyone in EQ could have a friendship like I have with her...there'd be alot less greed and drama in eq if so...
(for parhl) As for pixelated babies...not very likely, but thanks for bringing that up.
