43+ Levelling help needed

Hi,

Thanks so far for the great posts regarding levelling spots. The Echo Caverns mosquitoes, basilisks in Jagged Pine and then the left side of Gunthak have been great.

Now I have hit a snag.

At 43 the Gunthak beach mobs are turning light blue so I thought I would try deeper at the village near the Dulak zone line in Gunthak. Me and my Wife (who also plays a necro) died 3 times, lost our levels etc etc ... basically SNAFU.

I tried root cooking (very mana intensive), pet tanking (the pet died, splat me) and agro kiting (got adds).

Where are some good places for me to try out?

you can easily do the other side of echo caverns until 49 or even higher i guess but once you hit 49 i'd suggest going to hhk and killing bards/nobles until 55

I know how you feel, i'm in somewhat of a rut also, exp is slowing down everywhere and most places feel repetitive. I'm 41 at the moment, and just started soloing echo. I can kill the entire back room (by the zone to the deep) with no other buffs than self. The only problem is the named fungus beast - trillkor - spawns OFTEN and drops nothing. Sony can F off for putting such an undercon in there. He resists most things a lot but i've found the best technique is to pull him with darkness - boil blood - scourge (yes scourge, VoS hardly ever lands) then just tap him here and there while agro kiting (since hes IMMUNE to fear). What a load of crock, takes me about 5 minutes of kiting to kill him. Anyhow other than that one mob, echo is a piece of cake. The exp isn't too bad either, but i don't know how some of you guys could level here all the way to 49!!!

But anyhow, i'm trying to find a fun spot where exp just rolls in, i've tried gunthak (constantly higher lvls plvling toons that pull ALL of the beach, and i do mean ALL of it for one toon), even further in in gunthak back in the tunnels...the mobs have huge amounts of HP for thier levels, but do drop some nifty gems :). Hm, I checked kaesora out, made my way all the way to the church solo and soloed the area for awhile, i decided it wasn't efficient enough to rake in the exp i wanted - all those rest the dead casts add up - not to mention the occasional cleric mob. I'm thinking city of mist may be a good run solo, i'm not sure yet though as I haven't been there in a looong time and i think they upgraded it? Anyone got current info on CoM?

Lower guk would be a good place i'm assuming, I went here at 34 to try charm killing but there were so many mobs squished together i couldn't get 1 without pulling 3 others, even with lulling. Maybe someone has an older writeup of soloing in this zone for the 40s?

As for Luclin, there are a lot of unused zones that would probably cater to us, try tenebrous mountains perhaps at the grimling mines (though there are a good chunk of casters there, be carefull), im sure you could rake in some good exp/money there. Anyone know if Mons Letalis is good exp or even if that zone is soloable at all?

Anyhow, thats all for now, if i think of anything better i'll let you know.

you can also try the dulak zone in. the scouts at the entrance should all be DB to you. the pathing for the mobs at the entrance is very weird but also very useful for agro kiting. if you stay along the wall and run back and forth the scouts pretty much stay in the center of the path. two necros should have no problem whatsoever there. watch out for the DEs though, they backstab.

whenever i hit a snag i usually just do a LDoN they rock for finishing of levels potential good loot fun and as a necro all you do is nuke and send pet in =D

CoM has indeed been revamped and I don't think it's quite what you remember. There are some named that can spawn in random places (perhaps anywhere a mob can spawn - but not 100% on that). Those guys will rock your world. They'll even shade 50-mid50 toons up a bit. Also, if you didn't like the casters in Kaesora, et al, you probably won't like the melee taps and such in CoM now.

As far as the Gunthak mass beach pull PL sessions by higher levels (made by someone else above), I think you'll find the same applies to CoM. I've seen it on enough occasions to warrant avoid the zone and looking elsewhere.

Of course, the usual caveat/server disclaimer applies here.


As far as "XP rolling in...", I'm afraid I cannot advise anything in the 40s, mainly because I only did 40-43 solo. I started grouping at 43 and haven't looked back as I easily got/get 1-3 levels a night (depending on time mostly) from 43-low50s grouping.


Oh well, sorry for the hot air. I know it's probably not the holy grail info you were looking for, but perhaps there's a decent tid-bit in there regarding what might not be good for ya.

If there are 2 of you, both necros, at 43 doing the undead on Gunthak beach, I would stay ungrouped to solo. While they start turning light blue, the xp drop is not that much (still almost 1% a kill on light blue, 1% blue) and the ability to kill fast to compensate is there. By 43 undead at beach are a cake walk, but worth the boredom for the easy xp.

If you stay in Gunthak, head to the castle steps. From 43-44 to ~48-49 stick to mushrooms. With 2 of you the double pulls will be a plus, with each of you aggro kiting a single mob. Snare and aggro kite. A big plus here, soloing are the shroom buff drops. They drop 1 shot hits of clarity (useless to necro), 1 shot group heal (cute and handy for that emergency heal or lich recovery) and 1 shot casts of fortitude - lvl 55 cleric hitpoint buff for 500hps. Very nice item for soloing there without having to get temp everytime it fades. Other than that they drops lack. You will not make money off the shrooms.

At 48ish, move up and start killing the human mobs on the steps. There are 3 tiers of 2 each on the steps and at the top 1 each that wander down the right and left passages (left is always one of the hooded npcs - sorry, I forget the name.) These have lots of hitpoints for their levels and hit fast/hard ... aggro kite.

Note, the levels I suggest are for soloing. If you are duoing, you can probably do the higher level npcs, but it will be mana intensive - the humans resist lots the lower level you are.

I never bothered with the drogmors, they resist a lot, run close to sow speed and are just generally a pain. That said, the area to the left of the stairs, when facing them, is open kite ground with the exception of a single drogmor spawn that I kept killed just to prevent the potential add.

The stair mobs are fast xp/kills until 54 (53 tops out) when they start turning light blue. Drops are cash, gems from humans.

wow, that really sucks about CoM, I used to love leveling there. Sad to think that there are so many quests that require going there also, i bet those are a pita now (like the monks whistling fists quest). Thanks for saving me the trouble of going there, perhaps later in the 50's for charming though ;p.

I went to Echo and mind numbingly ground out 1 level to 44 and my wife (who also plays a necro of the same level) did also .... we could either keep clearing Echo when we duo or the temple thing in Gunthak might be a good idea.

make sure you are doing the TM room in echo, the task master and skellies are all higher lvl than the other mobs in the zone and ALL of them are undead, they bring in lots more exp

i can only say do the hotspots... follow this line and ya will do real good xp... hunt in Dulaks Harbor(49-45) at yar lvl.... after go to torigarn minse(46-50) then hunt in Crypt of Nadox 51-55... the xp is real good... and its easy lvling and ya train yar skill in fighting dungeons solo... bc of the small space ya have to kite the mobs around... it has real good guides on this site...

this are my 2cp... i lvled realy fast at the Hotspots =)

Hmmm its been a while since I was 43. My opinion is a zone that is an oldie but was great for me a few months ago. Dreadlands, there are "lanes" by Karnor where nothing spawns and you can fear kite, when you get closer to 50 you can get 4 going at once =). At about 50 I hit Dulak Harbor and solo'ed boats until 54 then 55-58 ravens / trees in PoN, 58-61 gargs in PoN, 61-64 golems in PoV. All solo for the most part.
