Chilling Embrace

After gaining enough exp to gain 39, I decided to go looking for the new spells available to me.
I was able to locate all, however I was quite shocked to see someone asking from 2000 up to 5000 platinum for Chilling Embrace.

Is the spell really worth that much?

I understand it may drop in Great Divide, so I may have to spend some time out there.

No, it's not worth that much, and you can get by just fine without it, but it's not that common of a spell and that's why people think they can charge that much for it. It is however your only cold based spell until 55, but if you feel you can get by without it, then it's worth it to skip it...

Hmm. At 51 I never had it. guess I need to go back to look how you get it. AS for needing it. Well damn how many damage dealing spells do you need?

I guess it might not be resisted by certain mobs as bad, but I am still figuiring out which spells work best were. Problem for me is that the Darkness line seems to be the most resisted spells of all (second to the debuffers).

Casters Relm says this is Poison, not cold. 40 a tick is not going to light up the christmas tree. Scourge is cheaper mana wise but does 24 a tick versus 40.

I guess for the 200 mana the 40 a tick is not bad. Just this is a cheese ball spell to get as you got to kill a 54 or so Mob to get it and it does nto drop very often. ASf ro anything over about 500plat forget it. You get vendor spells soon enought taht are better damage.

I wont pay that much for the spell, I have the money but the fact is Im not lining someones pocket with 2k for that spell.

I do agree that 500pp is a much better price.
I will keep a look out for it around that price,
but not wasting to much time on it.

2k for this spell isn't high, it's outrageous. I think I paid something like 400pp for it, max (been a while now, so I don't remember exactly what I paid for it).

It is a nice spell as, while the dmg/tick isn't uber, it's a nice long duration DoT. So, over the duration of the spell, it makes up for it's low DPS in total dmg, and it's very mana efficient to boot. Not exactly something I'd use against mobs that'll be dead in 30 sec, then it would be a waste. But it is great for those mobs where you're in for the long haul.

Try hunting Holgresh's in Wakening Land near their cave entrance. Took me a few hours, but it dropped and I made some nice pp off the loot. One caution is watch the pathing carefully because they tend to cross paths a lot in the trees and help each other out. make sure you have FD ready and watch out, because they cast some nasty spells. I'm 41 now, I've gotten by just fine without it. No way I was going to pay a lot of plat for it.
Today I was logged in on my bazaar mule and found it for 50pp. I'm gonna test it out on some grimlings tonight.

I was lucky and got this spell for free from a friend of mine. But now that i have it i hardly ever use it. The 600dmg is nice but it has a 1.5 min duration ;) Once i got my lvl 44 spells i totally forgot about chilling embrace, its all about Asystole now =)

Go to Kill wurm in GD in the tunnel you will get it easy

This spell is poison based, and uhm, isnt worth your time. Its worth is maybe 2pp tops. I never used this spell, and when I got it, I scribed it because my roomy ran across six zones to give it to me.

I never had it to be honest. Hunted for the drop and by the time research came out was to far past the need to have it. I can see it being useful but not for anywhere near that price.
