So with the recent patches I'm beginning to wonder if PoH could become a Viable solo area for us necros...
Advantages:
-Might be some nice exp
-Could we farm the Marsinger's quest?
Ive been dying to get a Marsinger's Gem, but before it would take like a month of constant grouping in PoH to get. Now maybe we could solo there for...a month and get it instead. Heh.
Please for those of you who are testing this, let me know what you find!

The other necro board has gone into great detail about soloing the Plane of Hate, but that information has been long since lost.
To some up what a necro can do in the plane of hate:
EVERYTHING
well except the Death Touchers - ... in otherwords you can solo the marsinger's quest :)
I too would be interested in hearing other's experiences in PoH

Found this:
Hate Guide (http://www.guildseofon.com/raidinghate.html)
Not sure if its applicable or not. Doesnt appear to be too far out of date.
The map in the guide is broken down by Tiers. Very Cool.

At 58, I can easily do tier 1; Tier 2 with some down time.

Are you root-dotting or aggro-kiting? I need the Magi drop for my Mage, and, while we've killed him a few times on raids, I've been wondering if I'd be able to solo that area at 62... certainly the Mage has no chance at 52 :).
I'm kind of tempted at this point to spend the rest of my EQ life just soloing the old-world planes for the hell of it :).
I am a 65th necro with a full spell book. (except the GoD stuff.)
I generally pet tank most MOBs. 70% of the zone is undead so Slow + pet heals works well. If a necro has Touch of Death(1000 point pet heal) this is an option.
I found my pet can beat the Ashenbone Drakes straight up. The drakes are completely immune to magic so the fight is slow. Fortuantely the Drakes are casters and they love to try to root me. These spells are always resisted and drop the Drakes DPS to zero. I have had one Drake be so persitent in casting on me I did not need to heal my pet. :)
Spite Golems I have avoided like the plague. I might be able to take them like the Drakes but I did not want the hassle.
All MOBs that are not immune to magic can by snared. Their aggro range seems pretty short as well. I have been within 30 or 40 feet it seemed without drawing aggro. This allows for a little aggro kiting on non-undead MOBs. I will pull with snare then send pet. FD to clear aggro. Pop up and lay on the dots. Once I pull aggro I will run 50 or 60 feet and FD. Pop up heal pet and tap MOB. Repeat this till MOB is dead.
*Edit Ire Ghast go low enough for Dire Charm.
First Tier and Second Teir named can be root rotted. Only a Deathrot Knight (65th) summoned, though my experience with the named in this zone is still very limited.
Loot is the Marsinger Gem, at least for me. The armor drops can be turned in to NPC in PoK for gems.
Start on the Marsinger quest line

It's a mix of root/rot, agro kite, and pet tank.
Golems, f'rinstance, I run around in circles. I hate those chubby bastards.

From my understanding the drakes are not 100% Magic resistant, you just need to be within melee range in order to land spells, kind of like some giants.

I found forceshield tanking while pet kills a pretty viable way to kill golems...

On my list of things to do is to try "fear kiting" in a "aggro kiting sorta way" the golems. Since fear would be resisted but it would 'land' the aggro generation element of the spell on the golem and allow me to run it in circles while pet beat on it from behind. As I recall, golems are not that fast when running so pet should keep up just fine.
Thoughts?
