Ablolutely NOT! I hate the people that beg for plat.
When asked.. I RUDELY tell them I have worked hard for what I have.. and suggest they leave me alone and do the same!

Now now, no one likes a bragger. I don't know if I could accept cash from anyone, unless they are quitting, or really, really insist. Just seems wrong to rob them of what they worked hard to get.

He's not saying he wants your plat, he is talking about people begging for it.

Worst I've ever done was I was buying an item from someone on a LVL-10 Mage. The item was 5000pp and I mentioned how it was worth it, but takes me very close to being flat broke.
He than gave me three more items in his bank of equal value, that he was just letting rot. I asked him how much he wanted for them and he said nothing so long as I wear them and not sell them...a request I do, and will continue to, honor.
But I felt guilty becuase his idea of "nearly broke" and my idea must have been different. My idea of nearly broke is less than 10,000pp in bank. I could have paid him for the items.
Yet on the other hand, I was raised in an environment that teaches you that one of the greatest insults of all is to refuse a gift...so, when I do outgrow the items I will probably find another trustworthy youth to do the same to.

Since this thread has become more of a rant on beggers, keep in mind, if they know enough to beg they are not true n00bs. I have had ppl beg me at the bank for an item or plat for their noob char, but then ask for specific gear or quote me the price of something. ACK. WTF? If you know the gear you need then you are not n00b enough for begging.
Roleplayers on the other hand get lavish treatment by me. I once gave a thousand plat and a few pieces of gear to a true noob that I had to teach to hit "r" for reply. His whole conversation was in char though. He never asked me for anything but asked if he could apprientice under me and learn to be a necromancer. RPers rule. Especialy ones who do it on non-RP servers.
I would move my char to the RP server but I think the 50 dollar charge is bunk. I have to many lvl 50s chars here to start over now.
Just my 2cp worth.

I have been given equipment and plat. I do not think it as bragging or anythng else. Someone is leaving a server and handing out stuff or plat then coolio for them. Now Beggars are fun. I have had beggars hit me up and I send them to "get me bones". I pay too much for them, but if they are willing to work for plat then I will give it to them.
Now. As for being "poor". Right now I have 2,600 in the bank. I have NEVER had anywhere NEAR that much EVER before. I might make 200 to 300 in a night, but when Research cost 45 plat per skill point right now to train it is not any great cash bonana I am working up.... My equipment is not anything a person is going to scream over either.
Now Newbies are a hoot. I have wasted hours and hours going out and training people how to do things. It is kind of fun as I remember the days of not know how to /con and attacking a small aligator thinking I could mash it and having it kick the snot out of me. So think back to the Good Ole Days.... :(

Friend dumped 28k on me when I came back from a break with no char and no gear. But, lets see... forgot what i was gonna write... OH YEAH!

Never decline money twice is what I've been raised to accept =D

Back when I started EQ ( in the days when EC Tunnel was the hot bed of trading ) I was standing in the Tunnel looking for some Ivy Etched armor for mah Ranger. A guy came up to me and asked if he could inspect me. I replied back with "sure", because I was truely a Noob with not even a full set of armor. Then the next thing I know, my trade window pops up and has 20kpp in it!!! I asked the guy why he's giving me 20kpp for and he said that his RL wife was quiting the game so he was giving stuff away to noob's who weren't spaming for plat or gear, but could really use it. I accepted the 20kpp ( of course )! Well, even though I had 20kpp I was screwed...I COULDN'T MOVE...ACK...severly encombered!!! I had to wait for mah RL family to log on and take 5kpp at a time and run it to Freeport bank for me. I was standing in that tunnel for 3 hours with 20kpp but no way to spend it, or play EQ (strength and Lev buffs wouldn't even help)...it was kinda funny now that I think about it. Anyway, thanks to who ever it was that gave me that plat ( I was such a noob aat the time I didn't even think to write ddown their name or add them to mah friends list )! I hope to return the favor when or if I ever can quit playing Evercrack!

hehehe Vamp! Too funny. Ughh I havent been that weighted down with Reyna but when I was transfering pp from Reyna to my rogue I placed I think 10pp on her when she was very very low level and at the time she had levi on and as soo as she took plat out of shared pp bank she dropped to the floor and couldnt move but to turn around...lol
humm, my hubbys given me pp and I back to him, we kinda exchange pp, items, etc between the two of us. :)
Many things that I love doing is going to zones and finding a true newbie and handing them the items I no longer use or a item I no longer use and was just rotting in my bank.
Belive me you can for sure tell the true newbies from the beggers who say they are noobs but arent.
As for beggers I usually ignore them, however I do like the idea of sending them out to farm bone chips for me..hehehehe I may have to try that next time. :D

Not sure this post was answered in the way the guy who posted it thought. Free pp was an exploit in the game in runnyeye in the banker there. You gave him gp and he gave you the same amount of pp back.
For anyone thinking of trying this, I have one word... Don't!
They have fixed the banker that was doing it and banned hundereds of accounts from the servers for exploiting the game.
When the sleeper was taken by the clerics being under the bridge on the first sleeper kill, I commended them for tactic.. not exploit.. tactic.. (though SoE saw different), but this is plain and simple an exploit and a person should get barred for it.

I have twice had unsolicited gifts from strangers. The first one was a Giant militia Longsword when I was a baby Warrior in GF. That Sword stayed with me for a long time, and eventually I handed it down to another Dwarven Warrior, making him promise to do the same.
Some time later, a 60+ chanter (I think) came and wiped out Crushbone for faction. I chatted to her for a while and she gave me a robe. This was a Robe of Living Fungus, which was worth about 1k at the time. That was more money than I had even dreamed about (I was a level 12 Pally by now.... career change). I sold that robe and split the cash with the person who introduced me to EQ.
Since then, I have enjoyed dropping the odd decent item off to a Noob. But I sometimes find it difficult to find a genuinely new player.
As for beggars. They go on my ignore list.

While some people are obviously greedy (charging outrageous prices for items in bazaar), others are very generous. Examples:
After getting my first mana dump spell, and getting into the practice of dumping mana on clerics, I came across an enchanter who was casting KEI in POK. She had like 50 people surrounding her waiting to get in on some KEI. I couldn't use KEI, and without asking, she cast clarity on me... so... I sat down and started mana dumping her while she kept giving people KEI (I was returning the favor of free clairy :-)). Just as I was about to leave (didn't want to waste all my clarity), she paid me 100p, apparently for helping her to keep casting KEI. So I sat back down and continued my mana dumps... in the end, she gave me a total of 400p, and even recast clarity on me once the crowd cleared.
I ran into POK only hear someone shouting free gear (and what type of gear). I of course ran up to find a group of people around him. I told him my class and lvl, and he gave me 3 whole items (even though there were a group of people asking for different stuff). Turns out, he had an alternate character who had adventured with me, remembered how nice I was to his alt, and gave me priority (this should teach everyone to be nice, cause you never know what time people are out there).
So I've returned the favor. Anything given to me for free, I give for free when I'm done with it. Once, I helped a newbie make it to Gunthak so he could buy a Drogmor. I know what most are saying: a newbie could afford a Drogmor? I have a feeling he bought the plat from ebay or something like that... anyways... he didn't know where they were sold, how to get there, or anything. So, I paid the donation for a druid to takes us to stonebrunt, and lead him to the lighthouse. Upon attempting to buy one, he realized that the cheapest one was like 12000plat, which, apparently he didn't have. So, I let him borrow my trader items (only later realizing how bad that could have been if he decided to take off, but he didn't), and he was still 100 plat short... so, even though I've never had more than 6000p in my bank, I gave it to him... he was so overjoyed, he gave me back my trader items. I haven't heard from him or ever been helped out by him, but watching a newbie running around in his Drogmor excitedly was worth it, LoL.
Cheers to all the nice people out there :-)

And you are an EVIL necro? haha.. just kidding. People like you are the reason I still play the game after all these years. Actually the only reason TOO play the game after awhile is to help new players. Otherwise it just gets to be the same old routine of kill, rinse.. and repeat.
As a newbie I was too busy frantically trying to find my corpse so I wouldn't lose that sweet cloth cap I looted. No time to even think about begging.

Yeah... I remember the cloth days with my Wizard... back then it was just about all the armour a newbie could get (off kills in Guk etc). Now a days with all the good gear floating about in the bazaar noobs get stuff like a defenders lightblade for free. Used too, someone would die for a blade like that just handed to them.
