im new to here...love the site though :D
i just thought i would post a very easy and attainable FT1 item that alot of people (at least on my server) knew nothing about.
Eye of the Owlbear Mother....it doesnt have much for stats but is a range item with FT1 and i was able to get it at level 43 with a lil help from my lvl 51 mage friend.
the easiest way to find out how to get is to look it up on allakhazam's.
its a very easy war that takes place between mobs in hallowshade moore.
just thought i would throw that out there cause being a necro im always tryin to find easy FT items to get :D

I would use a dustcriers crystal ball or somthing for range over a FT1 item. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2480 Mana preservation II will save you more mana than FT1 will give, pre 45 Post 45 I would go for HP since we have lich 1 mana extra per tick won't make much diff but more HP you will notice.

sure you may not notice 1 extra mana per tick, but you also won't notice an extra 20hp or whatever, the thing to look at is the progression cuz you throw 5 items iwth ft on and your noticing a difference i your mana regen as well as your dps, whereas you throw 100hp on that doesn't increase your effectiveness nearly as much imo.

This would also be a very easily attainable Mana Preservation II item http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=16371 only 4 items to collect and if you are lazy u can get the items in bazaar for around 50p total.

Taken out by myself due to offending comments...
Changed the siggy as well because it offended too many people, I don't mean to be rude guys. I apologize. I have been known in MANY areas of my life to take things TOO far and I am working through this, so bear with me. If I offend any of you please tell me and I will work on correcting the situation.

HI all, i was just browsing through this forum and i gotta say... i don't agree with what half of you said in this topic. The only ways to increase your power in this game as a necro is through leveling, AA, focus effects, and worn abilities such as regen or flowing thought. Extra HP or extra MP will NOT increase your effectiveness or power as a necro at all. These things will only allow you to operate at the same power as before these things for a longer period of time. Not meaning any offense to any of you who may disagree with me, but to me you should never replace focus effects, regen, or flowing thought for items with better stats. PEACE

I agree somewhat with Izlaen. FT and regen Stack. The more you get the bigger difference you'll notice. Yeah we all don't have elemental gear, but every little bit helps, that's why I always like to keep Manaskin up, ooo noo it costs a peridot, you'll get over it by the time you start moving into the planes.
But a Zheart at 5hps per tick and regen 3 makes it 8 total which gets you a bunch of xtra lich ticks before you have to tap which saves more mana, and if you use manaskin and mental clarity 3, a couple of FT items (gotta love beast lord crack too) and spell casting mastery to save mana, it all adds up as well.
Also, focus effects help out alot too. Spell haste will save your but and affliction efficiency as well, and ya gotta love extended range, improved damage and mana preservation.
Int and Sta gear... Ok not as important as gear with effects, i'll have to agree, and yes an item with big direct hp and mana boosts will probably give more than one with decent stat boost overall, but in the high end game, the stat boosts are included with the direct boosts on lots of items anyways.
Is the difference between a 20 mana item and a 10 int item that big a deal? Not really, because spells cost 200-400 mana! Will it make a difference if every slot has a 20 mana instead of 10 int, yeah probably you'll get enough in your mana pool for an extra cast maybe two.
However, an item with 75 hps & mana beats and item with 10 int and 20 sta hands down, does it make that big difference on one item, no, but get 5 like that and yes!
Bottom line mana preservation and spell casting mastery (increased specialization activations) will save you the most mana overall, and Natural Durability will get you the biggest HP increase from AA, but the percentage it boosts it is based on your base STA as well, so it may be worth it to dump the 5 points into STA later in life, but probably not before.
Also the AA INT boost will give a larger mana pool than INT items because it boosts BASE INT. Increasing the base stats also gives room to free up more int gear for direct HP & Mana gear as well.
So What am I saying exactly? I have no freaking clue, make up your own mind, I ain't your lawyer, and I don't give free advice!!! I'm just giving the facts...

P.S. Really, I'm trying to say I personally wouldn't give up items with effects for stats, unless it's uber Elemental or Time gear, but those usually have effects anyways and I'm a ways away from that as I think most of you are as well!

If it increases your length of time, then doesn't it increase your effectiveness as well???
