To start, I have played EQ before it was EQ...when it was still in testing stages.

I have played my current main and only un-deleted post level 26 toon for almost 3 years. Torv is my second and only server now.

I am in a family style guild because RL does hinder raiding but I do have friends in all the 10 ten guilds on my server, former guildmates and some of them officers/leaders of their current guilds. (I have done Vxed with some of them, nice xp for a gimp like myself)

Because of who I know and what I have learned these many years I get quite frustrated when certain things happen..............so here it is:

/rant on

Went to an open Grummus raid last night.....we wiped. Heck, 90% of the raid was down, I had not a single healer to twitch so I target ole' bumble butt and start chain casting Touch of Mujaki as my only recourse because, one, he never resisted it and two I was dotted and dying slowly. Grummus was moving away from me and at 3% health. He walked into a corner, facing the wall and stood there while the remaining few of us attempt to finish him off. At 0% life, I cast 4-5 Touches maybe before I was wiped by an add..........Loading. My corpse was one of the last 6 to pop in the GY, out of 70.

Okay, the fact that this was slightly bugged is not my bitch. My problem was with what I noticed from logs and the /chat channel fight the insued after we wiped.

Logs.......one level 65 toon cast 12 straight fizzles.......12, I'll say it again 12.

How the frig do you cast 12 straight fizzles. not interupts. fizzles.

Go delete this toon and start over or better yet, go back to PS2.

Bitch #2, /chat channel fight:

wtf, who cast WTD on Grummus?

Yes, someone thought that Grummus was a WTD pet and that is why we couldn't kill him. I actually got in a verbal confrontation with a level 65 Necro and level 65 Rogue who both claimed that you cast WTD on a living target so that when it dies, it will come back to serve you as a pet.

Their belief was that someone cast WTD on Grummus and bugged him, making him 1/2 pet and 1/2 mob, with the pet part not allowing us to kill him.

Guess what...you wasted your friggin' money on a toon you have no friggin' clue how to play.

Go delete this toon and start over or better yet, go back to PS2.

Oh, as a side note, I really got a chuckle out of the monk who asked that I join a Fear raid 3 nights ago. I have done Fear 12 times. Killed 33 Golems (1 wipe), never ever seen CT up...never ever seen SBoCT drop. Killed the IBI 4 times, all 4 kills before they changed him from a random auto aggro spawn to a non-aggressive PH spawn.

3 Necros on the Raid, all 65...we pwnd, that was until the RL decides we are going to do the IBI (IreBlind Imp), though the only Zerk in the raid was already epic'd. ( I tanked his final epic mob" ?" Goblin Master only 3 hours earlier).

I am like...okay, lets do it, then comes a message over /rs:

Necros, drop your lich and grab a regen from a druid or ranger.

See the problem here? So I look, both the other Necs are looking like the Ikky and Garden Gnome they normally are, me, I stayed in Skelly form, dropped my regen and loaded just lifetaps, no /DoT/HoTs'.

Can you guess what happened, while the entire raid force is stunned, me an ole' Konbatik are eating away at the IBI while I am playing, nuke, FD, Nuke, FD tag with the greenies he spawns. I killed like 6 of them and I remember IBI being somewhere around 30-40% life when I finally ate dirt.

So Necros, know your toon and ignore all those G-D fools that have a Necro alt and think they know how to play every G-D toon in the game...they don't.

/rant off

Not:
Beforei got a decent internett conection my fizzel rate at worst was 37 fizzels in a row. basically it emptied my mana pool.

reason:
LAG... Yes u heard it. if you hit a spell gem several times in consession it will for some strange always fizzel when u have lag. dont ask me how i have no proof just used to happen with me alot with my old connection.

also everybody knows open raids have like a 75% wipe factor.

A very funny thing about that. I hear this quoted a lot about opens but I must be charmed. I have been on 5 open raids on two different toons. Every one has been a success. Admittedly we did fail on hedge with an open once but the raid just reformed and did it the second time. The failure was do to early trigger of mobs at the end, a simple mistake but we were doing well until that.

I am sure as the sample size increases my odds will drop.

paalrh,

I appreciate everyone's response and I am always open to suggestions or contrary opinions. I am sorry, I did not take the lag factor into account and 37 straight fizzles has got to be a record somewhere. I apologize if I offended you in any manner, that was not my intent.

Before the raid was started though, everyone was well informed that adjusting such things as video settings, turning off Luclin models and sound or even re-bootting might be in order.

Some of us have systems and internet connections that can handle the load and it makes for better screenshots, especially the one of me standing over ole' bumble butt's corpse after a successful second attempt that night.....we had only 7 deaths the second time around.

I was just really frustrated when I wrote my original post, maybe because I am tired of seeing level 20's wearing Fungi and riding 100k horses or better yet, I am tired of putting my all into what ever venture I embark on while others 2, 3 or 4 box during failed raids and then want to accept zero responsibility for it.

There are some out there who still play Everquest as it was originally intended and I am not preaching to anyone to change their ways, but my admiration is for those that work their way to the top, one step at a time with true success.

I'm so glad I don't raid with people who are so stoopd. I'm gonna log on and thank my guild for having common sense. /laters

seeing lvl 5's with the 100k horse doesn't bother me..really...i have a high level main and use it to twink out alts...no biggie..but with those alts i practice skills and i learn my way around..no sitting there whining because i can't figure out how to get to splitpaw!!!

it's the people who are lvl 65 and have no clue about anything that irritate me...who obviously don't even have the basics that are given in the tutorial...just irritates the crap outta me...

Najiwench.

err...my twinking comment was geared more towards those that EBay/PA/Zantis than those that have worked their way to the top and twink out alts somewhat. Zantis wouldn't be in business if there was no market for what he sells.

Soul, 65 Mage, one of the first toons created on the first day Torvo went live and was in the first raiding party that was Time flagged on our server is a real good friend of mine. He has 3 accounts with 15 active toons and does the same, somewhat. He too practices his skills.

Two of his accounts expire next month and he will lose 14 toons when that happens, including Soul...he is not selling any of his toons but what he is doing is giving away or selling off all the gear from them and letting friends like myself Sac his pre-60 level toons for EEs. All the plat made has been transfered to his level 25 Beastlord, Solkani, who is being leveled the old fashioned way...no PLing, though with all the 65's he has, it could easily be done. So I know of a level 25 with a butt-load of plat in the bank who could easily afford a Fungi Tunic but doesn't own it yet because he feels that items well outside his level range would hinder his skill-ups and learning curve.

Those are the type of people I respect.

Twinking used to be a "dirty" word some years ago, now it is common practice. I remember the first time someone called me a twink when they inspected my level 12 Necro in EC. Yes, I was twinked for 12 but I did so selling leather padding (100pp/stack) in the tunnel and running errands for those who couldn't get into Neriak to buy spells or "Fulg" stones. There is nothing really wrong with it, and making a living is part of the game but anyone who checks my Magelo will see very few skills lacking. Evo and Div need a little work though.
