Conspiracy to piss me off

Is it just me or does that one law (Murphys I think) apply to eq. It's something like whatever can go wrong will and at the worst possible time. In eq to me it always seems like mobs turn on their cheating abilities in situations where a bad outcome will piss me off so incredibly I want to cancel my eq account, throw my computer out my window, go the the verant offices and assassinate every dev on the team.

Here's a few examples:
1. Just a few minutes ago I figured with the new pet zoning I would go all out and spent a few hundred plat on decent pet weapons for some nice procs or something. I ended up spending the cash on a 75dd/stun proc and a high dmg weapon. Then I got it mage items and temped. I was feeling pretty uber with my spiffy new hp + 3 pet <_< . So I decided to head out to my usual solo spot in PoM and got my lineup ready and whatever else I do. So I go to dooming a mob and it resists, so I think no big deal i'll do what I always do (Fd and wait for aggro to reset and reattempt pull.) So I fd and it happened to be one of those times that the mob ignores the rules of fd (Yes I know fd can fail but it rarely does and it pissed me off when it does because that event usually has dire consequences) So it comes up and whacks me in the face for 347 damage or so. I'm thinking damn it. I hop on my sow speed drog and am down to 27 percent hp when I get my drog to it's run speed and get the hell out of hell. Well after I got a few feet away it turns to my pet ( You know the one I put all th extra money and work into) and demolishes it. So I fded(Succesfully this time) slammed my hand on the computer desk a few times to make me feel better for the good pet I was cheated out of. Of course I can go on pulling and not have a resist and fd fail for hours. It just always has to happend when I really damned don't want it to.

2.Another example from days ago. This a more generalized event rather than a specific case. I was doing the boats in dulak for xp at that level so I'm fear kiting. Once in awhile after many, many pulls my pet gets pretty hurt. Well I fear the next mob and fear wears of like 10 seconds after cast and it turns on my pet and almost wipes it before I can get it refeared. Ten seconds later it breaks again and the damn the kills my pet and them comes after me. I feared it again and finished it off but why did the fear keep breaking when My pet was that low on health. I mean come on it's a damned conspiracy by verant just to piss me off.

3. The neo mob which I have explained before but for those who havn't heard my bitching about the neo mob, you can hear it now. Every couple of mobs in PoM (It seems like to me PoM has a huge problem with this, although I have seen rare occurences in other zones.) say 1/15 or so a "Neo/hercules/pain in the ass" or whatever title you wish to label it comes along. I won't have any problems in my solo routine. No major damage to me or pet and pretty good exp. Then the "Neo" Mob resists my first snare then ignores my fd, (sometimes kills my pet) and resists 3/4 of everything I throw at it. No i'm not an idiot and can't read that it's a named or something. It's the same yard trash I always fight. Also sometimes the mob turns into "The one" in the middle of a battle ( Like neo did at the end of the first movie B) ) and resists dooming 4 or 5 times in a row and become unsnared and gives me major hell. Or it resists all my dots and I can't land anything but splurt :angry: . Now I'm not sure what inspires these mobs to enter bullet time or why they do but it is really annoying.

Now these are just a few example of my own, feel free to post your own experiences with cheating mobs. Now I'm sure someone is gonna flame me and call me an idiot and say they are all coincidences and regular happenings but if they think that's the truth then they Can't Handle The Truth!!! Lol, don't ya love cliches? I swear to god there is a verant employee that Hates me or something. Sorry for the horrible post btw. My skill as a lunguist diminishes when I'm pissed off. God @&#*% mushroom killed my 500+ Plat pet.

Just remembered another great event in the conspiracy by the great Verant to anger me to the point i'll throw my computer out the window, and come kill thier employee's so they don't have to pay them.

4. At level 54 I was soloing In katta. Now for those of you who don't know, Katta is a 12-15 minute walk from PoK. So I got buffed up and started the run. I was about 8 minutes through my walk when my Add self got attracted to a neat looking waterfall/slanted river. I just had to take a gander. I walked over and got in the water, well I got bored soon enough and tried to get out of the water but I was stuck. So I sunk back to the bottom of the 3 foot pool of water and somehow ended up falling through the floor. I went into my usual yell at the computer mode and promptly gated back to pok (I really wanna know what happens to a melee when they fall through the floor). So I started the walk to Katta for the second time. I actually made it to Katta this time and got to the graveyard and memed my pet spell and casted it so I could get up and running. Well My pet didn't pop. I was thinking damn it I must have moved two inches to the left or something. Well I look down at the chat box to see what was up and stun * I was out of Bone chips* well at that point I was just about ready to /q and call it quits for the night. But alas I gated back to PoK and walked to the Bazaar and bought up my usual order of bone chips in bulk. Well I walked back to katta for the third time. Got to the Gy popped my pet and then I saw a message that made me want to throw myself out the window and end it all. The chatbox said "You are low on food" So I gated back again and bout like 3 backpacks full of supplies and trekked out to Katta for the fourth time and guess what happened then? The necro solo spot had been stolen in my abscence. Thats right after four treks out there my damned spot was taken. I just /qed and went to bed. The whole series of events was possibly one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

Lol old glitch in EQ sheesh been since I played 3 years ago I think if you go straight up to a wall and try to kump you get the out of water flag but you didn't jump out instead of noticing you are back in the water it thinks you feel that distance and beats the heck out of you. As for "neo" mobs yeah you will get those every now and then I know I do in HoH sometimes I am just going about my business soloing like usual and get 5 resists on snare back to back. Only thing that saves me is that I have a nice area to run in and I always have a timer on so I start recasting snare about 15 sec prior to it dropping maybe 30. If snare does get resisted and mobs breaks snare then its time to run and cast snare and hope those channeling combat agility aa paid off lol=). What I hate the most is when mobs just start resisting snare when you get lom after a long pull maybe a few adds I am at 10% mana hoping to scrape off a snare and then get a new dot on mob and he will resist and scm doesn't check and I am SoL.

By far the worst thing is you try to run around mob and he actualy hits you but instead of the normal miss max hit half hit you get tripple for max melee and have to tap like mad then somehow add shows up from no where(see kiting the cats without killing gaurds in front of the one trial temple.

It happens to all of us I believe. My Brother and I were working with a guild to get the last component of my sister's Mage Epic in the Plane of Air. Well, my Brother is a pally and he decides to cast a spell that is an area of effect stun spell. Well, little did he know that the stun AoE spell also goes straight down and up. The next think I know, my brothers yelling he died, and I look over to see a swarm of Mobs all over where his corpse is.

Another time it happened to him too...

He was going through Freeport and of course, due to quests that affected his factions, the bad guards don't like him there. So he's cruising along and all the suddon the Rogue GM from east FP decides she wants to kill him too. And she does.

And I thought NECROS had a bad faction with everything....heh

heh, the Neo mobs happen all the time. The most recent one that happened to me was in HoH. Not as bad as your case, but for the life of me I couldn't land E Bolt. I was expecting to find some kind of DMF quality magic item on the damn thing.

Just wanted to add in you're not crazy man, I have the same problem on my necro occasionally. And pretty much exactly what you were describing happened on my druid constantly when I was getting him his elysian. I'd be solo'ing 2 because somehow lull failed or something (keep in mind 1 takes a full mana bar with kei on and root/dot'ing which gives me med time). It never failed, I'd be low on mana and they'd start breaking root every 5 seconds while I'm trying to finish off their last 25% health with a 10 second epic cast. I haven't had quite the same difficulty on my necro so far, but I'm just now starting to fight the 55+'ish mob's, so I am sure I'll see similar with him. It's like the mob somehow knows you're low on mana or something so it starts getting extra roll's to break root or something, heh.

You think those are bad lmao, try this...

1. I got in an LDON in the morning took about 15 mins to get group there, and the 6th person wasn't invited by me, but by a group member, and it had happened to be a reall ass of a person. she was the chanter and we walked into the EF ldon, and she goes, we are taking to long and left, and at the same time the shammy person said they were done Eq for the day and left... so bamn 2 necroes a cleric and pally left in there.

2. Same day, i was called to a chardok raid, and i really wanted to go and help this guy with his epic hit, so when i asked for assistance on my final hit i would get his help. So i run there, and well oops stupid me decides to attack the first mob i was killing with my Procing port to OT... well that bites so i start running back on the 5 min hike to there, finally get back to find they had started in and another guild was joining and they were going to lead the way. SO i run down solo a few mobs on way to catch up, finally get there, and can't get the raid to stop so i cna get buffs heals and spells set up, so im slowoly getting things done 1 by 1 as we move. SO im keeping up sort of, and kind of grumpy now. I ask multiple times for heals and buffs and am not getting any, so the raid decides to take a short cut and jump down off a bridge, and of cource it was slippery and i fell the wrong way. So i use alt g and check to see if any mages, bamn NONE so i succor to enterance and ask how i can get back. Now im buffless petless and sitting away from raid. So i decide to bind outside zone and kill myself and have the necroes in my group summmon me down. well doesn't my group drop on the zoning glitch! not realizing i just bound myself got stuck there. So i clicked my gaate talisman and ported to PoK pissed off bad.

3. same day My dad says he is raiding mithaniel marr, so im like he is one of the last i need, im omw i run all the way there and do my job, and get therer, to be stuck not raided in, along with 3 other people... those 3 other people got on there mains and ran to the raid without saying annything about them coming, soa nnoyingly if i would have waited even longer i would have got a raid in ,but it was too late i had already gates out : (

4. I figure this isn't working so i would go to Tactics and solo, and isn't there two deathguards (SK) mobs sitting at the spot of my kite room, therfore causing me a Really hard time and i didn't get to kill one mob while in there before leaving.

5. same day still i head to BoT and get a group there to only end up breaking on the first mob. i get another group and bamn breaks again. So i run to DE (deep earth in BoT) and call looking for players that will not leave within an hour. So i get this kick ass group, and we start pulling and we ended up having three named pop in ME that we pulled, and each dropped the ornate leather cap pattern which is like 18k on this server at the time and i roll a 3, 33 and a 16 didnt win once. After about 4 hours of this we wiped and all decided to camp. this day was like 18 hours straight up to this point and very annoying.


Oh and BTW during that ldon at the beggining i blew three ee's and died twice lol. Hectic day, but I came back the next day and had a blast.

ooooh, ooooh, oooh. Let me tell you about my chardok raid. Not sure if it was as bad as yours but it sucked! Well we were raiding to kill the king for some reason. (I'm serious, I don't even know why we were raiding.) And we were about halfway to him out on some bridges. Well I dot a mob and get aggro of course. So I do fd to lose agro but it fails. So I get back up and get hit again and get knocked off the bridge. I fall into about 3 mobs. They start beating on me so I try to run towards the building that has the stairs in it. The Fd Gem pops so I fd and it works that time. So I wait till aggro fades and get up and invis myself. Well I didn't know the little dogs could see invis. So I merrily walk into this room with about 8 mobs and a little mut starts attacking me and then the whole room aggros. Well I didn't last too long : (. Next thing I know I see returning to home point.... Well I make the run back so a fellow necro could summon me to the raid. I was runing back towards the entrance to Chardok when my invis breaks and a damn lb sarnak comes after me. Well sarnaks run so damned fast and I couldn't get an invis off so......Second death of the night. Well after that things did go as planned :D

The way i see this, your descision of summoning a drog, caused you to lose your pet.

Why, when a mob hits you in the face for 347, do you react by right clicking your drum, letting the mob beat on you for 3 seconds, then (luckliy) summon drog, spending another 2 secs to get it to run speed......?

My reaction(or instinct) would be to lifetap him while FD refreshed, or even re-try your snare, while your FD timer was refreshing. or maybe even better, run while your fd timer was refreshing.

You will always find mobs like the ones you described. I remember when i first got into tactics, I killed about 15 mobs in a row on my first day, then there was one that resisted snare 8 times in a row, resisted alot of my dots, but still ended up dead. Then the next 10 mobs didnt resist a thing.

The game would be not-so-fun imho if there werent incidences like this. Where is the challenge if your mobs comply with all your wishes? That's where the excitement comes in. Working around those resists and beating that mob in the end gives me more satisfaction than beating the mob that gave me no trouble.

They're allowed to resist w/e they want but not the initial snare!!!!

Anyway I got another little adventure. Well the other day my guild developed a fetish for killing Prak in Dc.(Not really we just had a bunch of berserkers that needed it.) Well what we found out (Ask anyone in my guild) was that Prak really really really disliked me. Few examples, our puller went and got him then went ld when close to the raid. Guess who the fishie decided to kill, That's right ME. Another example (This is the real bullshit one) After being summoned and killed on every attempt I decided to hang back for a minute on this one. Well the whole 20 or so people had already engaged him and was fighting. So I run out to the raid and as soon as I get within ten feet of the fish(No one else was dead at this point) It summons me under the water and kills me. Now I'm not sure why it did, seeing as how I just got there and hadn't even done anything.
