I've done the easy part and am now ready to go find some herb. I get alot of mixed replies when asking how useful this thing was, so now I am asking here.
Is the epic worth the time invested?

imo its never a bad thing to get your epic for bragging rights i guess but as far as if its worth it i would have to say Hell No...hehe
i would much rather get the Zlandicar Heart to get that 5HP regen while using my lich line of spells plus you get 20 INT on it also.

Hmmm... You can assuredly find better than any epic for any class out there. But when it comes to it, everyone wants to see if you "made it" by getting yuor epic.
So, the answer. Yes. The Epic is a sign that you have made it. I have yet to see an Epic sitting on some toon that was "given" it at level 45. You got to get up and earn the darned thing.
As for Zland's heart that is not the easiest thing to get either...

epic doesnt suck.....lemme voice my opinion.
Epic is really nice stats as well as a mana free dot/snare. Although there are items that would suit you better in your primary hand. (Z Heart or PoP Primary Wand or Dagger)

I guess maybe zland heart may not be "easy" to get but your comparing a mob that drops the item every single kill who I kill consistantly with 3characters, to a quest where you need rare drops from all over the place some off mobs that are/would be tougher with minimal #s than zland (thx death touch). Personally i don't even put them in the same class as one another for attainability, tho i've never been a big zland heart fan myself it's most definately WAY easier to get than epic.

Ever since I started my epic I was told, not to bother with getting it becase there are way better out there for Necros. True, however the reason why Im aiming to complete the quest is to complete it and be able to say went out there, did it, and got it done. :)
With the exception of Cleric Clicky Rez many epics for other classes out there arent a needed item and all can find better for their primary slots, in fact the guild I was in at one time said "We wont worry abut anyone else's epics but Clerics" *shrug*
I think working on and completing your epic is more to say; "I went out there and did it!"
Yeah, I guess bragging rights. :-) But honestly it isnt THAT bad of a peice to have especialy with the manna free snare. I know compaired to other classes it is weak but it does have its good points. :-)
To all who try to take on this quest, good luck. :-)

I think that the epic is junk, but it does have some bragging rights to it.. I have it on my to do list when I am 65. but till then there are more desireable things to get..

3 cheers for Zheart
0 for epic
I'm presently working on my bard epic, and have decided not to work on my necro epic because there is better out there, I rather get my necro flagged and get planar items.
I think a really good quest to do, is the marsinger quest, I got the first stage marsinger quest gem this week, and it beat hands down my decaying bone idol. Have to spend some time in PoH, but well worth the effort.

Just my 2 cents on this. 1) Yes, it is bragging rights, but 2) a manaless, DoT / Snare is never a waste of time.
If you also include in your arsenal a Staff of The Dreaded Gaze; then you will not only have a manaless snare / DoT, but also a manaless fear. That means infinite fear kiting (in the zones that you can still do this with fear), with no thought of mana whatsoever. Not bad to get experience without having to even lich for mana unless you wanted to add a DoT or two to your pet's dmg.
My personal opinion though is the stats suck for an epic (cause we are already on the verge of being overpowered), and it would have made more sence to have given us a fast casting, low resist fear instead on the epic. Since the STDG was already out when the epics were introduced, I wager they opted for the druid snare type instead.
