I wonder why I never heard anybody mentioning the Plane of Fear as a hunting ground.
I have never been there myself, but from my research it looks like it is swarmed with undeads we could charm and slow.
Is there a guide out there somewhere for this zone ?
Or any hints for a 56 necro wanting to visit PoF (camp spots for example) ?

I believe the reason as to why there are not many guides to soloing in Fear is due to the extreme difficulty (atleast it used to be) of zoning in and breaking a camp. There also (atleast used to be) some pretty extreme chain aggro that could make any decent xp/loot there too much of a pain to truly be worth the time it took to get it. This is all old information that I am remembering from a few years ago before I left the game, so maybe things have changed, but I don't think so. Perhaps someone else can either back me up or prove me wrong that has a much better knowledge of the game today.

You've never heard anyone mention the Plane of Fear as a hunting ground because of the insane amount of aggro one person can get there. Aggro in Fear is a chain reaction, one mob pisses off another and so on until you have 5,10, then 30 mobs around you wanting to take a chunk out of your ass.
Also, aggro in Fear is level based, so one group of 55's can walk into fear and be shat on by 30 mobs, and a group of 65's can run in and go to the West wall without ever getting aggro. Group exp here really sucks, the only No Drop loot you might have any use for outside of a quest is class specific gear you turn into PoK class specific guildmasters and get a shiny new diamond.
So you ask why no one camps fear? Well people do camp fear, waiting for quest mobs to come up, they dont kill anything. Once that mob is up they call 30+ friends in to beat the living crap out of the entire zone for one mob, person loots quest item, people leave. Fear is empty again, thats how camping fear works. Sometimes people take one good group there to get a dinky quest mob, but that is it. No one camps experience here, just kill mobs for the quest items.
Cheers,
Quez

I like Plane of Hate myself, plenty of undead mobs around and now that there is an NPC in PoT who can port you there, it is much easier to access. TONS of healer mobs so beware of that.

Plane of fear soloing was fun back in the day...it was the "new freeport/erudin guard cycle" for a while for me, after they made guards not worth fighting anymore. I don't know about the ireblind imp, and how that'd play out...I'm assuming though, if he's up...zoning in solo would be suicide. (gogo epicing alts) Anyway, I'd normally run in, fd on the west wall...and wait for an opportunity to stand, make a pet and start killing. Once you stand...your pretty much stuck not fd'ing until you completely clear your agro(IE kill everything around you, although it might be different now with FD all changed and stuff). It's a fun time if your successfull, it's not so fun if you die and have to wait to get your corpse back. I'd suggestion invising to zone in, although others swore by harmshield. To each their own. Hate is much easier and condusive to soloing, if you charm a greater kirukiea(sp) the zone is yours...abuse it as you see fit. Nothing like a pet that triples 400's, with rune of death /grin.
Jeb you are an absolute GEM! I get all sorts of new and wicked ideas from your posts!

Would that be dire charm, or don't take your eyes off the screen for a single second charm?

Mix, if you ever see a level 46 mob hit for triple 426, please do tell me. This is a word of terris charm, Basically, have EVERYTHING your killing darknessed. Then give your pet AMPLE space to kill. He can tank just fine, mobs that are slowed or not, with the exception of maybe vengence golems and warlords of hate. When charm breaks...immediately cast root on your pet. Most of the time I target the pet unless I'm dotting the mob we're killing(although you shouldn't need to use your mana for dps, the pet is plenty), with (the monk, and former pet) mob rooted and the mob you were killing with it darknessed you should have plenty of time to recharm, and sic it on the mob that you intend to kill. I saw a room with 3 forlorn revenants in it last night, and since you can't fd split with a charmed pet..I sent it in, slowed the mobs and sat down...the hasted monkymummything killed all three with about 40% life left, it doesn't need help, you can probably agro kite, root/rot mobs on the side if you get bored while it's killing 2 or 3 at a time on it's own. It's just sick...that is all you can say. I solo'd upto inny's thrown with him, which I'm assuming are the hardest mobs in the zone.
Ohh and one last thing

The Ire Blind Imp sucks. He hangs out right at the zone in portal and has a NASTY AE stun. Then the wandering mobs just come by and start beating the living crap out of you, in addition to the Ire Blind Imp. I also noticed that the Mobs corpse camp. I was told that this is new and makes FD'ing kind of a 1 way trip since you cant get up without getting the snot knocked out of you. Despite all of that, however, I think this zone would be fun with a good group.

The mobs that corpse camp are the essence of rages. These mobs are more of an annoyance rather than a challenge. Any other mob in the zone will walk back to its spawn point.
Just a few weeks ago I had to jump in PoF and help a few guildies out on a CR after they were doing their turn-in for the Whistling Fist quest.
It was myself and 3 monks. We had no problem shedding agro and waiting for the regular mobs to walk away. When we had a couple essence of rages out and about we had to play ping pong with them so we could get them away from each other. It was a very long night :)
Unless the "new" FD thing has started within the last few weeks then you should have no problems with the regular mobs.

Sometimes after a pofear raid when they couldn't kill cazic though I'd zone in and agro him with harmshield on, or send in the charmed skeleton, so he could summon everything left in the zone...run away, fd and pick up the stragglers. Then again, I'm lazy and hate running around looking for everything.
