Hello all,
Been working on oracle robe quest and set my sights n the loremaster piz tak in chardok's library. Got a non KOS mage to summon me there and a rogue to pick the lock.
Suprise! The library is packed tight with mobs. Lots of chain aggro. Anyway does anyone have any knowledge on soloing this guy in the library. I have read about chanters and bards solo'ing him but nothing on a necro.
Thanks for any info you can give,
kane

I have no experience doing this myself, but I imagine the beautiful tactic of pet fishing should work just fine in this case. Find a good corner that's free of nasty sarnaks, suspend CoB or LoZ, whichever you have, summon Invoke Death, FD, send pet to attack the loremaster. Once your pet has aggro, either /pet hold or spam /pet back off and you'll single pull it just fine. Unsuspend your first pet and have some fun. I'm not sure if it's really doable solo, might just ask for it when you're getting the Overking piece for a cleric's epic.
Interesting. I single pull with cracklin bones in alot of tight places, but when I tried this on the Grand Herbalist, I kept getting the whole shack. I thought perhaps this trick might not work in Chardok....but I do not FD when I pet pull. Wonder if that would make the diff ? Never had to before. Might make a trip back and see.

The secret is: the pet has to be Green Con to the MOBS. Theres no need to FD usually as long as you follow that rule, but of course FD'ing doesnt hurt hehe.

It doesn't hurt when it works!
My fortune has it fail at the worst possible time, usually in a case like this. O well, at least with 3+ mobs beating on you, death is merciful and quick

I've found that pet fishing only works when I FD. Pets of any type, be they green or white cons, will add a small amount of aggro on you when they engage. Thus, the mob's buddies will see something that is not green on their friend's hate list and help out. While FD, mobs will ignore you 100% however. I use Invoke Death simply because it has more hps than Cackling Bones, but if you want to be extra cautious, Cackling Bones is the spell to use.
LOL, yea, I use cracklin bones, and I admit I rarely have to 'send him away' before unsuspending CoB. The mob usually finishes him off about the time root hits.

I pet pull frequently, and I've found that whether or not you're FD to be moot overall. Perhaps as an extra security blanket it would be good to consider using FD.
Depending on the situation, and my mood at the time, I'll single pull whomever I want to kill with Invoke Death (if SKs do it, so can we), FD my pet when the mob is just outside of aggro range to me, then either let the mob sit or root him while I pull out CoB (already buffed and suspended). That variation to the pet pull technique is somewhat situational, as the aggro radius of the mob is a variable depending on where I'm at, mostly I use it for show when others are around.
Pet FD splitting, using a pet that is blue or better to a mob, is a pain, but can be done when used in conjunction with suspended minion (royal pain in the ass many times). Pet feigning, in itself, does not truely remove your pet from the mob's hate list. I've had a pet feigned for over 30 minutes before, stood him up, and the 3 mobs who's hate lists he was on instantly came for him. The only way to wipe your pet from an NPC's hate list is to either kill your pet, or suspend it.
Pet pulling is a great technique, and I'd recommend that every necro try it out. Pet FD splitting, while interesting to watch, often takes more time and makes people impatient. It just kinda falls under one of those "check this out" categories.

I've done this once solo and once with a group recently. I can honestly say if you can get friends to come do so. More necros the better obviously, I had a paladin couple rogues and a botted druid. Solo...I'd manage to kill 5-6 and then have to fd to heal/get mana and then kill the rest. The loremaster/named are significantly harder then the rest, and if more then one or 2 are up...it could prove to be too much, atleast solo. I didn't try pet pulling, I trained down..fd'd...had a sos rogue open the door, and trained in, fd'd...then cleared the library. I hunt differently then alot of people, and that won't work for everyone. He spawned downstairs against the back wall for me, if that helps.
