Hey all,

I was just looking for some quests worth doing at my level, and I came across the Necromancer Velium Robe (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1221) which rewards you with Warlock's Robe (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4968) which has a conjure corpse clicky. Has anyone else done this quest, and is it worth it?>

Well, it's still quite a nice robe, but it requires camping Kael forever to get the drop. In the time I've spent there getting to near ally faction with the dragons, the only silk piece I've got is one of the bracers (which, in the end, wasn't worth the cost of the gems for the hand-in).

I know there is a similar robe which drops in pog, I'm not sure if it's off of a particular mob, or just random. It might give you another option considering that I really don't think pog is camped anymore.

I'm also unsure of the ability of a necromancer to solo in there however. Damn protector of the glades.

Robe of the Bonecaster (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4462) drops in PoG, but I don't think you can effectively solo there since the Protectors of Growth are hard to deal with (from what I've read).

The Kael robe has the same click on it. The only problem is the torn enchanted silk robe is a very, very rare drop. Mobs in the arena summon, which can be difficult to deal with if you are a bazaar clad necro (like me). It's doable, but kind of slow. If you can get a friend to come along, it speeds up the kills a lot. I've duoed there with a shaman, cleric, mage, enchanter, and ranger.

Either robe would be handy to have, and the Kael one can be used for the Phylactery Will Get You Nowhere (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2652) quest that results in:

Grand Robe of the Oracle

I've camped the Kael Arena off and on for about three weeks trying to get this robe to drop. I am not as nicely geared as some folks but geared well enough not to get recieve a beatdown. I have too say that there are only two methods I know of to deal with arena mobs; pet tanking and summon kiting. I have only tried pet tanking and frankly, with no pet focus I am hard up for mana after killing each mob. Another Necro in my guild got his robe drop this way, the other I know said he summon kited so I will try that once he gives me more details.

So anyways here is my spell line-up after casting a pet, shrinking it and hasting it.

1- Embracing Darkness
2- Saryn's Kiss
3- Horror
4- Touch of Mujaki
5- Shadowbond
6- Touch of Death
7- Seduction of Saryn
8- Death Peace

As you can imagine I pull with Embracing and sick my pet. Right afterwards I cast Saryn's Kiss and immediatly Shadowbond my pet. I then cast Horror and then FD to wipe aggro from all of my added DPS. Naturally I leave pet taunt on during this fight. I then chain cast Touch of Death to heal my pet and sometimes step in and take some damage from the mob myself and cast Touch of Mujaki to get my HP back. I renew Saryn's Kiss as needed but I only cast Horror once per mob. I usually start at each mob with about 80% mana and come out of the fight with about 35% mana.

These mobs in my opinion are a pain in the ass to pet tank. However, if you duo with another Necro or even a class that can slow the mobs attack speed is when the arena becomes very very easy.

Cheers,
Quez

Okay, finally did summon kiting these Arena bastards around with the other Necro in my guild who likes to summon kite mobs. I would recomend you be at least level 65 with a doezen or so AA"s under your belt before you try what I am about to describe. Those AA's would be SCM2,ND2, and at least the second level of both your Damage avoidance and mitigation AA's. Sorry forgot what they are called as I have been up all night.

Anyways you can either break into the Arena pet tanking with the method and spell line-up I have described in my last post or run up the arena ramp and FD. Either way I suggest you have Force shield on your rear and maybe and extended HP buff unless your are 3k hp or more self buffed.

Here is your spell line-up:
1- Embracing Darkness
2- Saryn's Kiss
3- FPoK
4- Blood of Thule
5- Touch of Mujaki
6- Force Shield
7- Seduction of Saryn
8- Death Peace

First of all I am going to say that you will need to initially break the arena spawn pet tanking unless you FD in the middle somewhere. That is a pain in the ass so break the first three spawns pet tanking which may take a while but it will give you a camp to start from. After that get up your summon kite spell list above and throw on Force Shield and make sure your pet is hasted. Next pull with Embracing and sick your pet immediately, doesnt matter if your pet takes damage because you will be pull aggro from him in 3 ticks or less.

Now cast Saryn's Kiss, FPoK, and Blood of Thule one after the other. Start kiting around. You will get summoned every six seconds and your force shield will wear off after the first two or three summons. Just tap back your life after the mobs hits you. At around 50% or so renew Saryn's Kiss and Blood of Thule. Keep kiting and the mob is dead. Faster and much easier than pet tanking. This wasnt easy for me and I had a few close calls, but it didnt take 6 minutes to kill each mob the pet tank route either.

Cheers,
Quez

One small question about the robe. I know that it takes a reagant when casted...but does reagent conservation work with it? I know no focus effects effect clicky effects too...unless this one is special.

I'd doubt that reagent conservation worked with it.

Focus effects work with any clicky spell you can cast yourself.

Reagent conservation 3 or 4 will work with clicky robe because the effect on the clicky is one that we can cast.

Other examples:
Circlet of Shadow(s) invisibility is affected by my prayer shawls extended buff duration since it's a spell I can cast.
Epic clicky is not affected by any focii since the clicky effect is not a spell that necromancers can cast, even if it does happen to be in the same spell line as our snares.

If you can cast it normally, focii will affect the clicky.

I'm not sure why you're camping the arena, I got my robe off a mob in the bank area.

Reagent cons /MAY work but ive never seen it using my clicky robe.

I still have it in a bag even tho ive upgraded to Fabled Ishva Robe cos it speeds up summoning a lot when u dont need mana.

the cast time seems excessive but u get used to it.

And when i was summoning to pegasus isle in sky boy was i glad of my clicky robe ;)
