I don't think anyones fed up with you Emp. You and Umb put alot of time and effort into this site and it is greatly appreciated by all. Some of us are sharing some knowledge as we see fit. Master list are great and I can't wait till it's out and functional, but still appreciate the little side efforts. Appreciate the Focus IV stuff Doom, been looking to upgrade from III for a while now. Doom and I may not aggree on everything but I've learned alot from him and I think he may even have picked up a thing or two from me, that's what the sites for helping Necros control their respective servers... ;)
I still have a Robe of the Tempest ... Improved Damage III
It helps nukes alot, I out nuke Mages often...
I also have a Royal Amulet of Takish-Hiz ... Reagent Conservation III
Helps save the occasional Coffin, Essence Emerald, Peridot, Emerald and Bone Chip. Saves you big money over time.

I also left out:
Decaying Bone Idol - Summoning Haste IV to save 40% time on pet casts,
Drops in PoN off Blood Ravens
and
Sky Watcher's Monacle - Mana Preservation III saves 10% mana on all casts,
Drops off Lord Feshiak in NToV (not that I'd expect everyone to be able to get there and take him out, Obulus Death Shroud which drops in Seb is easier to get, and it's droppable so you could buy it in Bazaar)
Robe Of Misery
Slot: CHEST
AC: 11
STA: +6 CHA: +6 INT: +11 HP: +25 MANA: +25
SV DISEASE: +10 SV POISON: +10
Focus Effect: Burning Affliction III (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=2368&source=Live)
WT: 0.0 Size: TINY
Class: NEC WIZ MAG ENC
Race: ALL
Player Made.
Excellent robe I might add. Stats are not the best but the focus effect rules. Since the effect occurs as the DoTs do damage, other focus effects when casting still fire. B)

More must have items...
Extended range I have found extremely useful specially for fear kiting out doors..
gives 10% longer spell range for initial pull, or when MOB is running back at you with less than admirable intentions after fear runs out. :) moonstone ring sells for about 300 pp on stromm.
Spell Haste.... Must have! makes spells cast faster. This has saved me sooo many times. I use a crypt robers gem for this effect drops in BB LDON missions. or sells in bazaar @ 1k on stromm.
Regent conservation... Nice for corpse summons. May save you 150 pp for the price of a coffin. These items sell really cheap... and only use when going on mass corpse summon trip.
Burning affliction items.... traded mine... add extra damage per tick for DOTs. I don't think it is as useful as my first two focus abilities listed. Does do noticable damage although.
Oh almost for got Mana preservation.... Saves 10% of the spell's mana cost. I love this one and still use it. just like adding a 10% to your total mana. again... a must have. I have a black alloy madalion for this effect. was cheap on my server [stromm] but has since skyrocketed.
Decaying bone Idol.... Nice for stats at low level as it has decent INT/mana stats and fills that pesky range slot. The actual effect I can live without... as lowered time on pet summons is not that great.. but may come in handy to get a pet summoned before that root runs out :)

Just added pet focuses to my original focus post. Found the pet focus name and stats on it that was the upgrade to the LDoN one I already knew about and where it can be gotten.

I moved this here from the Spell Book, Focus effects, affect spells, but what gear they come on and how to get them is more of a gear question, so here it is...

Wow! I was almost an extremely happy little gnome. I saw you had the Immortal Robe listed as BA4. Which would be AWESOME since I almost have that many points in MM for it. But alas, it is does not have a focus. However, the Ritual Claws of the Scion from that theme does have ID 4.
Here's a list of some focus items I snagged from Magelo: There are many more focuses, but these came to mind as far as DoT type stuff: (not that I personally seem to be able to get my hands on any of it :P )
Affliction Efficiency IV items:
Amulet of the Starfish
Bone Ring of the Death Ward
Ceramic Gavel of Justice
Falchion of Flowing Water
Festering Earlobe
Manual of Malady
Pus Covered Beetle Carapace
Sharp Claw Ahlspiess
Wristband of the Chancellor
Wrulon Eye
Improved Damage IV items:
Brittlebone Sandals
Ceramic Incense Burner of Ro
Dusty Girdle of Reformed Sand
Honorary Amulet
Ritual Claws of the Scion
Signet of Betrayal
Spiritstorm Mask
Burning Affliction IV Items:
Bloodied Ore of Vengeance
Ceramic Shackles of Torment
Gem of Burning Rage
Miserable Bauble
Rallican's Steel Bracelet
Extended Range IV:
Ceramic Sword of War
Diseased Ratskin Mask
Glowing Sandstone of Focus
Red Circlet of the Evoker
Sharkbone Earring
Tempered Gold Mask
Tome of Eternal Preservation
Wand of the Ice Storm
Wind Worn Luckstone
Extended Torment IV item:
Jagged Gravestone of Affliction
Medeaa Shadowcreeper

I thought that, was a good link to focus items. They are not in order by class, but they are in order by the focus item level. It was pretty user friendly, in my opinon :)

For thoes with the GoD expansion: Talisman of the Spiritseer
Zoning from a LDoN camp to Nedaria's Landing then on to Natimbi. Cross water and turn right to Souls camp. At lvl 61 they /con blue and are able to be soloed, but the kicker is the flowing thought 1 necklace that is sellable and it has a chance to drop off any soul mob, not just the named. As well as being FT1, it also has a stack of attribute mods around +5 in several attributes. It is s'posed to be very rare, but in 1 week I have looted one personally and been witness to another. Selling price in Quellious 70k+ ... not a bad days work. Same camp also drops a regen collar that also sells for about 70k.
*Note, the named soul is immune to changes in speed, this includes root and darkness.

I got the named to pop the other night... I'm 59, so I couldn't handle her myself. Had a Druid friend come over and we Ping Pong nuked her, not too bad... she dropped an ok ring. Even slowed, she owned my Emissary of Thule :(
This camp is soloable as low as 56 I would say, aggro kiting is nice here... the souls don't run as fast as everything else in zone either. You have time to FD if a snare is resisted... heads up though, these guys hit for 280+!

Hmmm... what I would like to know is...
1- Does Mana Preservation IV and Affliction Efficiency IV stack when casting a dot?
2- Does Affliction Haste IV and Spell Haste IV stack when casting a detrimental spell (i.e: snare)?
In question 2, I think they do stack, but it has been a while since I played necro last and I would like conformation on the stacking issue if possible.
However, the real reason for the posting is question 1. Do both of the mana saving bonuses apply?
Also, most likely I have missed it, but... why not Improve Healing IV?
I know it stacks with Improved Damage IV, which makes my lifetaps pretty deadly on the damage side, while saving me mana since healing is greatly improved with both effects combined. Not to mention, Theft of Life 3 and Fury of Magic 3 to boot (since lifetaps are considered a DD DMG wise).
The latter, plus the fact that I am almost certain that AH4 and SH4 work together nicely, leds me to believe that MP4 and AE4 also stack together on the mana saving, but have not parsed it nor have MP4 yet (something always gets in the way) to be able to check it.
Could anyone share their wisdom on the issue and bring light into the world of effect stacking?
Thx.

I R Noob. First timer and lv 31.
If I'm reading this right, please tell me if I'm not, the ones I should be concerned with long term are:
Hp Regen
Mana Regen (to a lessor extent)
Affliction Efficiency
" Haste
Extended Affliction
Should Burning Affliction be here also?
What else should I be watching for as I level up, beside pet foci?

Those are a good start:
The 3 most important foci for a necro are:
Affliction Efficiency
Burning Affliction
Affliction Haste
Get those - and watch your power soar.
Other Foci that are very important:
Improved Damage (nice for taps, and DD's)
Mana Preservation (very useful, but not as necessary as AE)
Extended Range (very userful again)
Extended Affliction (an extra tick or so on to any of your dots, very nice - but getting one shouldn't be a priority as outside of LDoN there aren't many options, if any).
Foci to use if you happen to have it:
Spell Haste (great, slower than AH - and how many spells do you really cast that this will help you outside of your dots)
Reagent Conservation (woohoo, save a bone chip, or possibly a peridot)
HP Regen - there are several debates about this topic, HP Regen is nice but you aren't going to get enough hp regen to really make that much difference so in the end you will still tap at a slightly smaller frequency...
Mana Regen - important of course, but you are a necro and as a necro who needs mana when you have hps? If you can pick up a piece of gear with FT on it and it has decent stats go for it, with no stats on it however you are better off going for something else.

Thanks so much! I have been working the bazaar for items, this helps me tremendously. :D
For a necro, hp > all (besides lvls). Got it. STA should be a priority stat. On it!
I've noticed the spell casting time is horrid and it's been driving me crazy, even with the help of a friendly cleric. Especially in ldon when you need to get that Darkness out there in a hurry. Don't ya' just love sleeping rangers? Not!
Spell haste might help with ST? I've found myself lately being the make shift chanter.
Again, thanks for the input.

Spell haste will help only if your having problems casting. It reduces the cast time, not the recast time, just wanna make sure you understand that before you get surprised.

Yes, I understand. :D Thanks for double checking. The situation I find myself in lately is being crowd control and would like to get the ST in there a little faster to hopefully save the clr some mana.

Will sort through this and put together a sketchy Focus FAQ in the next couple of weeks, and then we'll add/revise/delete as needed.

It should be noted that shaman can make potions that add +5% mana preservation on many kinds of spells (stack with ALL focus items and spells/buffs). They are as follows:
Benefit Awareness: beneficial effects obviously, and includes Heals Over Time.
Cold Awareness: Cold-based damage spells
Disease Awarenes: Disease-based spells
Heat Awareness: Fire-based damage spells
Magic Awareness: Magic-based damage spells and many other spells based on "magic"
Poison Awareness: Poison-based damage spells
All come in different levels, like all focus effects, so you would see Cold Awareness I and so on. Same breakdown on levels useable as well (I= 1-20 lvl spells).
I know they work because I use them for my wizard and shaman all the time, and once I get off this current levelling binge, I'll make some for my gnecro.

Drops off A Drolvarg Warlord (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=5243)
Supple Scale Armband (http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=803)
I would go for it, if I didn't already have the coldain wristguard and the bracelet of comprehension. Im probably going to go with the Moss Covered Hood for my ERIII item, though it does got for 12k on Karana server.
EDIT: You can also go for this Diseased Ratskin Mask (http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=16497) And skip right over ERIII.. Since I use Dooming Dark for pulling, ERII still works w/ it.

ER not that big a deal really. For a nice ER one of bot towers drops a `100hp/mana wand of icestorm with ER4 its nice stats and the effect on it makes it better.

I have the Wand of the Ice Storm (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=17279) that Chaoswind drops. But, to be quite honest, I grew so accustomed to going without Extended Range for so long, after my Supple Scale Armband (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=803) became useless, that I rarely cast a spell when my target is in the 200>220 game range. The focus is nice to have the few times I make use of it, but don't go overboard trying to get it IMHO. Factoring in stats and raw HP/Mana, the wand will net you a whopping 4HP and 20Mana over A Blood Bladed Dagger (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=18115).
I think, of all of my Focus items, my Staff of Lost Rituals (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=12919) is by far my favorite. The Focus: Accursed Affliction (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=3108) is the exact same thing as Burning Affliction IV, only with a cooler name. From what I've seen, the staff is a fairly common drop too. Between the last two times I've raided Diablo Xi Va, I've seen 3 staffs drop, and I've seen it drop several times before that (I'm still waiting for DXV to drop the clicky Splurt shoulders, but that's just a personal gripe).
Overall, I'm a big proponant for DPS. Extended Range, various forms of Spell Haste, Mana Preservation, and Reagent Conservation are all nice to have. But if I had to choose, I'd go for the route that augments my DPS first, so I'd go for something that falls into the Burning Affliction category. No matter how many times I've seen it happen, it always brings a warm feeling to my heart when I see Horror crit for 1032.

i have a question, lets use BA and e-bolt for an example. would there be a differance in dmg in using ba4 rather than ba3 or is it the same amount of dmg? the only diff is lvl in spells?
Azrioth

Same amount of damage.
BA4 just applies to, say, Blood of Thule, while BA3 would not.
The % applied to the dots is the same.
