Saryn's Companion

Don't have the 63 rogue pet Saryn's Companion yet, not quite enough PP. Whilst perusing Caster's Realm checking out pet HPs I noticed the Saryn pet has the Assasinate ability.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a rogue ability that allows insta-kill?

If so, how often does this work? I mean, having a pet that can insta-kill a mob sound like a friggin' wonderful thing... yet I've never heard anyone raving about how wonderful the 63 pet is.

Assasinate only works on mobs lvl 45 and below.

So the message would be

Jobabker has assasinated a Shaddy Swashbuckler for 15000 dmg.

Well something like that anyways.....applies to all Rogues, not sure which lvl though.

Rogues BS assasinate for 35,000 and not 15,000 (My main is a 65 Rogue). I have yet to see my pet assassinate anything but that doesn't mean he can't, it just means I havent used him in a level 46 or below mob zone yet with the opportunity to BS from behind a mob. I think this is where the issue lies. Most of the time I am in that type of zone I am not going to use the rogue to begin with since I am farming and will use LoZ instead (Sure wish I was 65 and had CoB)... :-)

Since people who have this pet are 63+, then why are they in a level <46 zone to begin with? If it is farm then they are soloing, and using one of their warrior pets like LoZ or CoB. If they used SC then they would need a tank to turn the mobs back to the pet otherwise the pet winds up tanking the mob (and he isnt that good at tanking).

Sooo.. why would a level 63+ be in a zone <=46 that they needed anyone to help them farm in?? hence why no one is raving about the assassinate ability of the pet. I like the BS though in a group or when kiting. He makes a very good dmg dealer for us Necros.

Doom is right. When i do go to places with mobs in the assintation range like seb, Chardok, AC, AR or what not i am not using Saryrns companion but Child of Bertox. He tanks better and with the level 64 Touch of Death pet heal he is more efficient for me then LoZ or SC. I have yet to ever see him Assassinate myself but it is no real loss either. In normal damage he backstabs for around 212 if i remember and he is my right hand spectre in many HoH or PoV solo encounters.
