A Ball Of elemental Clay/Elaborate hinge

All,
Can anyone confirm that the "a ball of elemental clay" still drops from the hole. Numberous reports say no since OOW.

Also, I just spent 7 solid hours in Poi trying to kill scrap collectors. Does the elaborate hinge drop of any other mob? I was only able to spawn 6 of the Mo'Frackies and not a drop off one.

All the evidence points to it no longer dropping in the hole but ive got a 40 odd char so gonna level him there and see... best of both worlds.

Hinge has only been reported off scrap collectors and at last count ive yet to find one lol they dont seem to want to come play..

Scrap collectors only sorry :( 18+ hours there, it sucks.

And the clay no longer drops in the Hole. I cleared elemental warriors and a friend did for me as well for a full day and nada.

While you are spending all that time in PoI.... be kind to your tinker friends out there (and maybe score a nice bit of pp for yourself) by collecting all those tradeskill things. On my server, coiled springs, innovative clockwork bolts and gears, clockwork grease (foraged) all easily sell for 50pp per and are stackable... and the two non-stackable tradeskill drops sell for even higher.

The other day a friend sent me a tell that an elaborate hinge was rotting in PoI...so I gate to PoT and run there...I guess I was 10 seconds to late ...another necro looted it and gated out. Was not able even see his name. Guess some people do not know how to lock down a mob. LoL. :D So, at least I know they are dropping.

I was recently in a failed MB raid and an Elaborate Hinge dropped inside the factory.

I had no idea what it was for, thus didn't loot it.

The worst camp for the epic is that damn clay imo. I spent 8 hours in poe with a group of end-game gates geared people ( I was the baby with 600aas) and didn't get a single one. We pulled non-stop trains, off-tanking 4-5 at a time, and mezzing others...it was nuts and fun for like 15mins. After that I just /auctioned and bought them. The hinge dropped on the 3rd scrap collector I killed approx. 1 hour from zoning in(and yeah, I stopped..afk'd and made coffee). I guess it all varies..the ore from LOY was a pain..

Jeb lets not talk about the ore from LoY. I had 4-6 of them in the bank, figuring they were gonna be for some quest I would need and of course, needing the bank space for tradeskills, and a week before OOW was released....I DELETED EM! I can kick myself for doing so.

The ores actually are for another quest as well. You need 2 for the level 52 LoY Chanter spell. Having helped countless chanters with that quest, I've found that the best place to camp the ores (for me, at least) is in the big room with the bridge in the middle. Just keep clearing the trolls and the ore will drop. I had all 4 of mine by the 5th clearing of the room.

As far as the clay... a little birdy told me about them before it was wide public knowledge that they were needed for the quest. I bought both of mine in the bazaar for approximately 400pp total

I got all 4 ores in less than 2 hours. The bridge area is WAY better for these. I got my first 2 ores in 1.5 hours and the last 2 in the bridge area in 5 kills.

how do you raise faction with the paineel btw? i went in to buy a key and one of the guards attacked me.. so then i lost a bunch of faction having to kill him (pet got mad and finished him off before i could do much) now the merchants wont talk to me so.. hehe

Since the patch, clay is dropping in the Hole off of "a destroyed construct" (they look like iron golems).

You don't actually need a key to get into the Hole. If you shrink yourself down to the smallest size, you can get through the hole in the rock door.

Believe the drop rate on the ele clay in hole was messed up. I've heard reports that it was raised back up after the 10/13 patch. Fellow guildie confirmed it does drop there today.

Oh, and to get in the hole, you can cast harmshield, then jump down. Did this plenty of times while my guild was farming Guardian of the Seal a few months ago (only a few months! Now we are VT keyed mostly, almost elemental, and some of us are Sol Ro flagged! Sorry...that is still kinda sinking in...)

I can also confirm that Balls of Elemental Clay drop in the Hole again. I was camping the old gargoyle last night and killing time clearing misc mobs in the city when I found one drop off of a destroyed constuct. I was esctatic at that and completely delerious when another one dropped off the next construct I killed...

15 min later I finally saw the old garg, he dropped my Tome and I was a happy necro!

OK, camped the Hole and got 3 elemental clays but no gargoyle as of yet. I was camping the area indicated on the map below. Up top, above the entrance here, there are 4 gargoyle spawns but I never seen the Old one spawn here. Where is everyone else camping and getting the Old guy to spawn?

It sounds like your camping the gargs sitting on top of the construct building.
I went down the ramp a bit more into the city area and found mine there. Hit one of the gargs above the entrance with a lifetap so he will summon you up there , then you can get a good view of all the gargs to see if he's up. clear that little block of the city near the entrance and you may have better luck.

For some reason I found that so cool! Guess I'm easily impressed but it is such a simply way to get to the top of some place when there is a MoB up that can summon.

There are no worries in this method. I cast quivering veil, jump in, land, cast levant. Works every time.

Or, spend a few nights killing in the Warrens and go buy a key. Either way gets you to where you want to be.

It used to be much more fun when all the mobs down there agroed upon your landing.

I went down to the 2 nd castle for the gargoyle spawn...you know the one with all the sexy little undeads. Cast soulspike and it summoned me up and then I fight like spiderlizardman or something... F8 and lifetap..and eventually he spawned. Much fun getting the 3k crits on those hitpoint deficient buggers =). On a side note, while I was there (about 40mins) I picked up a nifty 15k or so in tribute items...so don't be too shy about killing anything that moves..or that doesn't move, heh. Loot those corpses, the gods love that crap for some reason.

Have the dropped rates on gleaming ores by the bridges been nerfed? I have spent 3 hours there clearing both sides and then some, and only saw 1 drop. Although, gnarled wood dropped on my first kill, and so did my only remaining clay. Now I just need that tome, PoI piece, and 3 more ores.

I had luck on the ores in the bedroom area (2 total in 2 clearings, and the loop the eastern side of the mines (again 2 total in 2 clearings). That is where they dropped. I pretty much cleared out the entire mines twice though, so it may have been coincidence that 2 dropped from each end.

Another odd coincidence was just before the gleaming zraxthril ore dropped, a few mobs before zraxthril dropped off a mob. Looks the same (black sphere) but without the gleaming or ore in the name.
