View Full Version : Hunting in OOW zones?
I was wondering if any of you have been hunting in OOW? If so could you please share what you've learned. Im getting tired of HoH and am planning on heading there soon. Thanks

Try Murkgliders in the trenches of Nobles' Causeway. If you get a little deeper in the zone, you will find 65ish murks that are excellent XP (the undead ones are white). Some of the tradeskill drops sell for good bit at present, and there are a couple excellent zonewide random drops that are necro usable. Be forewarned that about 1 murk in 8 will be a caster, and some of them cast a snare. It's a weak snare, though, and you will still be able to outrun the mob if you've landed darkness. Bazus are also good XP, but about 1 in 8 will cast a nasty root spell. Ferans are good, but be forewarned that a few of the higher level ferans dispel.
There are a lot of named mobs in NC. There are a couple that have been soloed, but most of them will crush you like an empty beer can. We're talking 2500 hitters that cast and summon.
Thanks! Gonna check it out tonight :D

Myra, you didn't mention level, gear, etc.
If looking for better xp, Vxed is still a great spot. Check the posts (search) for more information than you need about it.
OoW isn't better than Vxed for soloing, just easier and less frustrating than those numerous times in Vxed when you have to renew expeditions often.
If you have the gear/mana/hitpoints get a couple of 65's to group with you and get a Dranik's Hollows murkglider expedition - then boot em and go solo the named/phs. Named are tough, but not too tough to tap-summon tank and you can slowly start accumulating runes for spells.

Murkgliders right near the Dranik's Scar zoneline in Noble's Causeway seem to have alot more HP than mobs in HoH and Tactics and seem to give almost identical xp. Anyone else notice this or is it just me?

I decided to explore a little with my 54 necro in DS since my 66 chanter conned all the mobs as green and LB. I was fear kiting and old jabober did a fine job with the help of splurt, snare, EB, and taps. I didnt have any outside buffs and couldnt find any mage toys....but I will next time. The only problem I had was tons of wanderers. It seems like everything roams. There are a couple of good pull spots though and Trash drops are awesome. The trash drops augs some attunable some not. and some very nice gear and some decent vendor loot.
I am kind of a wus soloing so I logged my chanter and did some dc farming. After a little over an hour (just after my dc button repopped) I had about 1200 pp in pp and vendor loot, 3 augs, a very nice twinking robe and a ts item(cracked magnetized bracer?) that I sold for 5 k.
The exp for my necro was very good but I was just tired and lazy that night.

The murks have a lot of HPs, for sure. The plain murks ("A Murkglider") are mediocre XP, but you'll still see lots of unadventurous folks killing them at the zoneline. You need to go further in to get better XP. Some mobs will give about 8 ticks of AA per kill.
I'm not going to say that Nobles' Causeway is better XP than HoH or Tactics. I've managed to do better in NC, but I'm more adventurous than a lot of people. However, without a doubt the loot is much better (at least at the moment, when the tradeskill stuff is selling well on the market), and it is less monotonous.
