Sup guys, new to the forum, and have a question about the pets  . Which one is better? Ive heard many times that the all mighty beastlord pet does way more dmg then my favorable necro pet does, but that the necro pet also has more hp then the beastie pet/and can do pretty good dmg. So plz give me ure opinion on which pet is better and why :P if there is a better one.. or if all are equal or what?? Thnx.

In my opinion, pets maybe a little different but when you combine the class you are and the pet, the pet and the owner compared to other classes are about equal.

Edit: I think the 49 necro pet is the best we have until the spectre pet.

I think a mage pet is best. It can cast spells like ropot or burst of flame ;)

Mage pets imo are some of the best. THe 65 mage pet seems to hit more often then my 65 nec pet. They also have a higher variety of pet, the 4 types, with innate abilities that come in handy. Another point is the chain casting of pets they can do. Example is that their 65 pet costs them 400 mana with a 10 sec cast time and ours costs 800 mana with 16 sec cast time. however snare may compensate etc etc. Overall im always glad to duo with a mage their pet and summoned utilities greatly enhance the play experience.

Here is the skinny on necro pets vs Mage pets... according to SoE

Mage pets have less atk and speed (even with mask of mardu). Necro pets will hit faster and more often, however, Mage pets have the advantage on hitpoints and added assets (summoned items). They also have the advantage on the damage shield that mage can cast on the pet.
We have to wait till the level 65 CoB pet to get one with a dmg shield.

They also have a more efficient INSTANT heal than we do. We however have the most EFFICIENT heal in the game with our reverse lifetaps.

Our pets are made to be able to tank as well or close as a mage pet when we cast our reverse lifetap on them (shadowbond), and to be able to heal our pet easier. So all in all, it takes more discipline for a necro's pet to tank as well as a mage pet, but if done right we are very close in overall dmg and pet survivability. See casters realm for a decent breakdown (old post however).

Necros however have a huge added advantage on self sufficiency. We lich faster than any mage with a ton of FT items and KEI on them. We also are way more self sufficient in being able to heal ourselves, others, plus agro control. We can root, snare, FD, etc.. Mages just have nuking superiority and summoning everything under the sun.

Good post Doom and your right regarding all that. One point tho is that ours, well, just looks better as well :). I was not however aware that our pet had a DS. Plague of torments that it casts on itself i was under the impression was a low HoT for the pet. Ill have to go look that one up. Might have misread it. Unless the DS is innate of course. No matter love CoB either way. /grin

Yeah, CoB has a damage shield that it casts on itself. Lucky for us too since we are unable to cast one. He will cast it on himself while idle if you watch him. He can also do it in a fight but hard to tell when he has done it. I don't know if he has it on all the time or it is on some sort of timer like some MoBs do when they cast it on themselves. I haven't been hunting with all that many 65 Necros who have him to know all the ins and outs of the pet.. essentially he can enrage, guard, lifetap, and put a damage shield on himself. Sweet..

I got my CoB pet in the bazaar the other day for 35kpp and cant wait till I can use him. Will get 64 this week and that will be a big jump in pet power since I get Touch of Death 1k instant heal.

Umm, no.

Mage pets have higher ATK ratings, higher melee skills, and more HP/AC.

Mages always have, and always will be the kings of pets, its what they do.

ALL pets innately attack at the same speed.

Mages and Beastlords get a 85% pet haste, compared to necro's 70% Chanters have 70% haste and shamans have 60%.

Beastlords have the best pet heal (shamans have the best heal over time in the game, and CAN cast it on thier pet, tho) with mages having the second best

I remember reading a post where peeps /dueled all the pet classes, with thier pets only self buffed with EVERY available spell to the class, it went close to the following:

Mage pet beat BL pet with 25% of its health remaining

BL pet beat necro pet with less than 10% remaining

Necro pet beat shaman pet with 40% health remaining

Shaman pet beat chanter pet with 60% health remaining

ALL PoP level pets will enrage, /sheild, and have very fast innate regen, while not attacking

This was simply pet vs. pet, with only the master's buffs. The order remained the same unbuffed as well, with the margins of winning MUCH smaller tho.

------------------------------

For Tanking mobs straight up (with master's help) the order is a bit different:

BL pets take the top spot due to 65% slow, high hp/ac and atk, higher dps
Shaman take second due to 75% slow, decent enough stats and dps
Necros take 2nd on undead only
Mages take 3rd on non-undead
necros take 4th on non-undead
chanters take the last spot, lacking pet heals

-------------------------------

Pet DPS is a group setting is:
Mage
BL
Necro
Shm
Chanter
Wiz/Cleric summoned single-target pets

I don't know where you got that info, but thats DEFINATELY not from SoE/and Dev. The references to casters realm point out how incorrect that info is, seeing as there is not one single thing on that site that is close to accurate.

Not sure where you got your info from bro either, but what level pet are you refering too? I witnessed a CoB pet fight with all 4 mage pets last night and if you dont heal the necro or mage pets the necro pet beat all but the earth pet with over 10% health. This was with NO haste spells added to the pets or items added. This was just base pets and no added DS from the mage.

To compare them any other way is to compare the classes and not the pets. You mentioned the haste on the pets, and slows, that is with added haste and slows from the classes. etc. and not comparing pets. If you get into that then you have to take into account that we have the most efficient heal in the game with our reverse lifetaps which makes up for the loss of dmg from all the summoned crap that a mage can put on his pet. This post however was NOT a class comparison post but a pet comparison.

I have not watched a BST vs CoB pet fight yet, but in less than a week I will be 65 and conduct my own tests and will post them. From what I understand, WE are summoning the most powerful pet in the game now. Not Mage, Not BST. CoB is the best. But until I put it through the test myself, all the other info is hearsay.
