I have my Concordance of Research from the DE in Sro. After practicing at the Necro Guild, my skill is 18 so I'm starting the Apprentice Azia and Beza to get to 41. For Azia, I need froglok eyes, but noone knows where to find them (according to eqcastersrealm). Does anyone really bother with the practice of this or do you just combine words that you find until you get it right? I know your skill will go up either way.

what r u researching for? The heck of it? or for that low lvl pet haste/ac/strngth buff? If its for the haste buff id recommend buying the spell in the bazaar or just buying the ingrediants and asking a higher lvl necro with a higher lvl skill for it.. because ure skill has to be like 70++ if i remember correctly and ure skill can only be around 70 at 24... if that helps any.. srry i wasnt that specific

I'm not really researching anything yet. With my 52 necro on Karana, I just combined any words I had and hoped my skill would go up that way. With my 19 necro, I thought about practicing the skill so I would be one of those necros the newbies would come to asking me to research for them. I just wondered if the practice using the Concordance of Research is worth hunting for all the runes to use it.

Sorry if this sounds confusing.

hmm, it all depends on how much time u have and if u want to get deeper into eq i guess  Im currently working on ranger/mage/necro atm and ive been working my brewing skills up for my gnome/mage and got a pretty decent charm with the skill at like 190 or so, to tell u the truth i forgot how hi it was.. :( lol, anyways, i guess it would be the same as a ranger working on making his on arrows, same concept, u dont have to, but it would really make playing the character more enjoyable to be able to do that one thing no one else can :P as for is it necessary? I wouldnt think that u would need it... there arent TO many necro spells that r needed to be researched out there, hope that helps some.

Jovhato, skip the Apprentice Azia/Bezas!! Those ingredients are too hard to find. If you want to continue using the Concordance of Research Quest, then go straight to the Training Azia/Bezas. The ingredients are not very hard to find at all. I am currently working on my research skill this way, so let me know if you want more info.. I'll help you in any way I can :)

And don't let other people's opinions on this quest sway you.. I think it's a very worthwhile quest, especially at the lower levels. I'm saving my training points for later, when the ingredients get way too expensive and hard to find.

I'll take your advise. Thank you Cthulha :)

Look. Let's be very honest here. At 51 I got Research to 180. To continue it I will have to burn another 2K into training it. A necro has very few things he really should be spending his training points upon. I mean put one in and then normal work it will go up. Research is the big twist here though. To level it up is a pain. Words are hard to find. Even if you just like burning time on quests you need to decide what you want to do LONG TERM.

Are you going to become a Master Researcher, as I plan on being? If so then lets be honest. Just BUY the training points each time you ding. Yeah you will want to do word combines as well, but unless you really plan on taking things "all the way" Research is just a life sucking effort otherwise. Every server has numerous Necros that worked up the skill. These people have spent 3 to 4K getting it there.

Decide if that is a cliff you want to jump off of. Not until you gt teh skill up to 150 or so will you really be able to make spells you can sell for a decent profit in teh bazare (other than the FREAKING 24 pet spell).

So, if you want to jump off this cliff. Do it wholehearted. Otherwise save your money and time.

Anyone on Rathe Server is welcome to ask me to do combines. I am trivial to level 44 and just 2 points off trivial to 49 spells.

Okay, for starters, in this (http://www.necrotalk.com/index.php?showtopic=108) thread I already defended the Concordance of Research quest. I really didn't think I'd have to do it again. Mixylplix, I totally respect your method of getting research points, but I must disagree with you on a few things. First of all, I have gotten my research up to 70 thru doing nothing but the CoR quest. And I can tell you, I've spent very little money doing it. 90% of the ingredients I've needed, I have farmed. And had a blast doing so. Also, why do you think that people who attempt this quest are "jumping off a cliff"? I can stop doing this quest anytime I want, and stroll up to my GM at anytime and buy the points. This quest does not require any sort of commitment; you can do it for as long as you want, then stop when you want. I also don't consider it a "life sucking effort". Like I said, it was fun for me, but then again, I like quests.. not just running around killing stuff..

She has a point.

You can farm most of your low lvl gems like bloodstones, oynxs, and cat eye agates in Lavastorm. Your best bet for rawhide is to check Befallen or High Keep. Burned-out Lightstones and batwings can be gathered at Wisp Isle pretty easily. Pixie Wings can be gotten from Gfay around Kelethin or in LFay at the Pixie camp if you got somone to break spawn for you.

Hmm
I started my research career pretty early. I looked at the Concordance quest and to be honest, I decided that the components would be more difficult to find than the Words I needed. Sure I could have farmed them, but I didn't really want to do that, nor did I feel confident that I knew where to find them. (I wasn't the Allakhazam addict that I am now!)

My solution was to team up with the Chanters in my guild and exchange research components with them. I made it known that I needed Words and I was thoroughly inundated with research stuff. In the main I dragged my skill up to around 180, hardly using any training points. I invested a LOT of pp in training up to skill level of 198 on training points, but guess what? I made that back by selling advanced research spells in the first week! There is no feeling so good as a successful combine on one of the rare spells (Dead Men, Gangrenous Touch etc) and no feeling quite as bad as 'blowing up' the rarest spell (Yes, I blew up Funeral Pyre!)

My friends in the guild who helped me raise my skill are now reaping the benefits, as I can do spell combines for them too. My main source of income at the moment is researched spells (level 49 - 60).

Looking back on it, Research has been a real pain. Bank overflowing with Words, constantly trawling merchants for rare words (I do a lot of merchant trawling anyway) and a desk covered with spell information. Overall though, it has been worth it and the rewards are there if you want to spend the time and effort.

I was going to do this, but found I could farm for words just as easy, and then could buy training just as cheaply as looking and finding all the words. I don't think this is a bad. Research is not an easy thing to do, so once again to each his own. Some people find trade skills a pain others really like it. I'm one of those who have high trade skills because I enjoy doing it. There are times I take breaks from them and times I go farm stuff for them. I have research at 160 for lvl 47, and I'm not sorry of the time and effort it has taken me to do this. Now I have to admit that it had depleted my money supply these last couple of lvls because of the price for words and group members in my groups won't let the necros always have their words, they rather scalp them in the bazaar. But over all I've not done too badly on research, granted not every wants to research everythign all the time. But I've been farming a few spells that drop too....
