Suggestions For Research

One of my main problems with Everquest is finding the correct components for spells. I go to near by vendors in zones for the level of a spell I'm looking for to find the componenets, but most of them can't be found. One spell I ALWAYS have trouble finding is my level 24 necro pet spell Haunting corpse.

Does anybody have suggestions for each spell word where it is most commonly droppped or what vendors in a particular zone I could go to?

I hope this topics helps out everybody praticing research with all the helpful posts.

Allakhazam has where all of our Words drop. Shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Checking the vendors in that area is nice, but also /auc WTB Words of xxx. At the same time, you can be hunting for them. :D Checking the bazaar is nice, but sometimes some words are just overpriced. I paid 120pp for my Words of Possession. That was 90% of my Haunting Corpse cost (from Words). The other two I paid 5pp for. The Words of Possession normally run for 5pp as well. Oh well.

I haven't worried too much about the research only spells. You don't NEED them, but I'm sure they're nice to have. The nessecities can be bought, the extras are research only.

Dedead, go to the shadow knights guild or spell vendors you will find lvl 16 pet spell there. though you can also research it.

If your gonna research you level 24 necro pet spell Haunting corpse, your gonna have big trouble with it, you need to get someone with a research skill of atleast 75, at level 25, max research for that level I think is 50.

I did a successful combine on Haunting Corpse with a research skill of about 35. I've combined about 4 more since then (to sell) and I've only failed once.. It's always nice to have extra words, just in case.

Now, to answer the OP, one of the best places to find words is in the POK on NPC vendors, and any NPC vendor that hangs around zones full of skellies. Create mules to buy words from vendors if you must.. Definitely check the bazaar, even though most of the time, the words are overpriced, sometimes people sell them for very cheap (I've bought Words of Allure for as low as 3pp).

Also, if you're specifically looking for the 3 words for Haunting corpse, the can all be obtained through quests: Allure (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=218), Detachment (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=215), and Possession (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=212). However, Allakhazam has rated all of the quests disappointing, because the items you need to turn in to get the words are harder to find than the words themselves!! But, you can always try..

I found 2 of 3 words for haunting corpse in HHK for 3pp each, seems guards & nobles drop them. chech vendor in back of bank :D

Always check merchants for a few days after patches/down time for items sold by PC's. I find stuff all the time. Got words of holding for 10pp. :blink:
