Newb Human Necro here, class 7 at present. Currently trying to do the Armour quests but not getting any of the Klicnik mobs to drop bile. Plenty of nobles and warriors but they are conning white and everytime I and my pet go after em, we get smacked. Are there any secrets to nailing these suckers in the N. Quenos newbie field or alternative locations for the drones? Interested in hearing about your successes and/or failures. By the way, the Quenos Catacombs are buggy as the devil (gettin in and out of water/aquaducts - always getting stuck). Anybody else have this same experience?

Queynos Aqueducts i got lost in more times than u can imagine (and we had no maps then lol).
I got to admit I love doing the noob armour quests even now. If you are a new character they will get you armour with some stat buffs from the off. The gear isnt awesome (well its downright crap tbh) but it is better than raw silk which i was in till around level 30.
IF i remember right theres a staged order to the quests that will get you around level 10 and the stuff.
The bracer is normally the start and the robe the hardest, followed by the "final task" which is normally a magic weapon of sorts (DE necro was a book that I used till level 52 it was that good lol).
Persevere with it, its all xp and the quests all seem to have one bit thats super rare. This seems to be the human one.
Just a question how did you get qeynos as your starting city I started a human nec and it put me in freeport i hate freeport lol

If you like quests, yes. If you don't, no. The items are decent newby gear and my casters didn't upgrade all of it until the 50s, but generally you could have better by farming a few stacks of spider silks and selling them in the bazaar.

Hey, many thanks for the input. Being new to EQ, the choices are daunting and given this is my first toon as you call them, I'd like to get it right. I am thinking about starting another necro though (possibly DE) given I hate the Quenos aquaducts. Getting around in there is difficult on a lvl 7 toon (the sharks, gangs of frogloks, large pirhanas, beggar, etc.). Also, I think SOE should be shot given that my first time in there after exiting the tutorial (lvl 6), I figure I will go exploring after talking to my guildmaster. I click on the bars, go about 50 feet, I pass a Skeleton in an alcove on the left right - it cons blue, I figure no problem, set my pet on it, tossed a few life-tap and siphon energy, etc. and the d*** thing just keeps regening it's health. My pet goes down, I try to run, look at my HP, down to nothing, and off I go to my starting point. Wouldn't be too bad except my starting point is outside of the main gate in North Quenos. Try getting back to your guildmaster in the aquaducts having never been there! :-) Took me the better part of 2 days to find a way back in - no fun, must have died 10 times. Oh well, I guess learning the ropes could be easier but would you learn the lessons of survival in Norath?
By the way, as to starting in Quenos, don't know why but after doing the tutorial, that's where I was whisked off to.

Mallakith, to start a human Necro in qeynos, just choose Bertox as your deity. If you choose Inny (or is it Cazic?? *shrugs*), it'll ship ya to Freeport. Just so you ;)

Only: answering a part of your response. There is a Entrance to Catecombs by the Bank, under the PVP arena (not a pvp area). Why are you taking the hard way in?. You are Human (loved in qeynos), Necromancer (Tolerated in qeynos). Your Good to Go. Instead of turn into the Bank, Keep straight and Go down into ramp well. follow turns, Pass a warrior and enter Dungeon looking room, Pass by a BIG RED warrior, say hello. He doesn't mind you. Follow bones on the floor and secret wall, Continue to zone into catecombs, SAY Hello, To Everyone you meet, they are your family.....
I had to Edit this; I envy you. I remember when I first started Exploring, That feeling in your gut when you see that RED mob looking you, Will I die? What If He don't want me dead? WHAT do I do?. Your GTG, your a necro, Always con mobs. Plan out the kill. Plan your travel. Your a Necro; NO ONE LIKES YOU, because YOU ARE THE MOST POWERFUL CHARACTER IN YOUR REALM............................

Dear Wispering Quietly,
I may be a necro, I may be the badest in the land, my character can do all of those things you say (I guess), but at lvl 8, if ya can't get the drops to make your newbie armour, what good is it? :-)
Drops of Klicnik bile, spiderling silk, and Big and Giant king snake skins are rare as hair on a frog! I have been prowling around the Hills now for days and the only thing I have to show for it is one Big kingsnake skin and 2 whacks from Holly Windstalker! At this rate, I'll be level 65 and still running around the Quenos Hills in a purple robe, cloth armor, and a LONG white beard down to my knees!
Has SOE reduced the drop rate on these items to make it harder for us newbies to get the armour? You would think it would be the other way around. Don't get me wrong, I don't just want to go out and pick these items up off the ground but, to spending weeks to see a Giant King Snake, whack him and find that he drops a fang?
BTW, if anyone out there does have any of the above items and you're on Morden Rasp, please let me know. I have even been to the Bazaar and checked the vendors there but only found spiderling silks at unbelievably high costs.
Good huntin to all,

Personally I love to quest stuff I have about 8 now i've started and nearly finished just missing couple of steps. I guess you could say I play the game for the pleasure which alot seem to miss out on when they power up to 65 w/o doing anything but lvl.
That being the case I would still almost have to recommend avoiding most of the newbie quest. The drops are too time consuming and you are limiting yourself to specific mobs when as a necro the world is your oyster to shuck. I'd lvl away up to mid lvls before you pause to quest.
In the meantime just fill up your inventory with backpacks and save every drobable item you find to save up cash for cloth armor or bazaar items. There are also some good cash camps out there you can find when you get a few lvls under your belt like wisp around lvl 12, gargs in OOT at lvl 19, halfling gaurds at the wall in Misty Thicket at 34 all drop items that can be sold for 10pp which will add up to some decent cash for you to buy some nice gear. (suggested lvl of camps listed for completely new gamer without twinkage)
This is of course only a suggestion you are the one ultimately makes the decision I just suggest this course of action as you are seriously handicapping yourself by not getting some of your more versitle spells which come a little later. Hard task do however build character and make you a stronger/versitle person.
Either way good hunting to you and good luck on your endeavors!

Well, thought I would bring everyone up to date on my newbie armour quest. I managed to get all of the armour items except for the Robe. I don't think that the Robe is possible without living on that ridge in Qeynos Hills where the Giant King Snakes pop. The whole time I was out there (had to have been 25+ day/night cycles), I only saw 2 Giant King Snakes and neither had a drop. It was hard enough whacking enough Large King Snakes to get the Large King Snake skins.
For other Human Necro newbies, the armour is ok but rather than waste time on the robe, go to the Bazaar and buy a Sorcer's Robe, cost 30pp and has multiple
enhancements.
I would strongly recommend newbies whacking everything in the newbie yard, loot it, then sell it, then go back and whack some more. I have managed to buy all my lvl 8 spells and still have 100+pp left over. Go to the bazaar on a shopping trip and supplement what the newbie armour added. Another benefit of the newbie yard is the decaying skeletons dropping Bone Chips. Invest in some Backpacks and/or Toolboxes, put them in the bank and fill em up with chips. I probably have enough in the bank (4 back packs full) to last me until lvl 65 :P
By the way, don't sell that cloth armour that you replace with the newbie quest armour. Put it in the bank as well along with a weapon and some rations/water flasks. You will need them once you get whacked after lvl 10 and have to make your first corpse run - trust me, I know. Going back after your corpse without armour or weapon is not a good idea! And get the Gate Spell, this is a must have.
Hope the above insights help other newbies....

Aargoth rocks!
I want to go visit.. I have an identical Felicite on Morden Rasp.. she is sitting in the Bazaar (I think).. some level near 10. When FV had a Server Outage that lasts a few days, many people when over to Morden Rasp to feed their addiction.
What hours do you play (and what time zone)?

Salutations to you Felicite!
I must admit at this point that I am an EQ addict! This has to be the most fun you can have with your clothes on :-) I am an avid surf fisherman and have a 2nd home on the Outer Banks in N. Carolina where up until I started my toon on 12-2-04, I left every Friday evening after work and would not return until Sunday PM.
Guess what, haven't been fishing in 2 weeks and this coming weekend it looks doubtful (even with the stripers running!).
I live in Chesapeake, Va and am usually on after 6:00PM EST. I usually play until about 10:30PM and then log off and think about my strategy for the next day waiting for sleep to overtake me.
Definitely, lets get together and do some damage in a lvl appropriate zone - just let me know when/where. I recently joined a guild (Adherents Of Atrocity) and am helping when I can but most of the folks are lvl 20-30+ so I have some catching up to do. I am not really in a hurry in that I enjoy the questing part of the game as well and tend to roleplay when possible.
By the way, check out a post from Necluv, seems he is a newbie on Morden Rasp as well. Maybe the three of us could group up and like in the movie, instead of Amigos, we could call ourselves The Three Necro's :-) Boy, we could really lay waste to some undead in the Fob!
