I was able to solo the herbalist at lvl 52......
This is tricky and takes alot of time to get it right.....

Neer the herbalist house is a zone line (i cant remember the zone.. and not sure if it is still there i did this a long time ago) but anyways this is your safe area so you can zone if you mess up the pull.

Target the herbalist and DMF above the water get to max range of him and send your pet in (hp buff for pet is recommended) once your pet hits him back the pet off to the zoneline with the herbalist following... very difficult to do but i did it.. then just root and dot him till he dies ;) ..... if you pull more than him then just zone out then in again.. (you might need alot of bone chips)

All in all it took about 2 days to finally get it right...

Hope this helps for those of us necro peeps that cant seem to get a grp or raid for help...

I would like to know how you did this and take him with a level 49 pet which cant tank for shite in Chardok. (I know cause I couldn't solo well with him even at the IZ). lol. I am not saying you are lying, but I know the area you are talking about.. And I too tried to solo him but could not shake the adds that come from the left between the pillar columns, and that was with a level 61 LoZ pet. Also.. The herbalist does not drop the herb as a common drop. We killed him 5 or 6 times and he still didn't drop it. I also think you didn't get down to the herbalist alone but had help. The 49 pet is in no shape to solo to get down there in the first place even if you take the waterfall route and jump down to the zoneline. Invis will only get you so far. If you indeed do it all solo I am extremely impressed.

The area you are talking about is chardok B (not sure the real name), but next to the waterfall. It was added quite some time ago. You zone into the zone at the lever where you must have pulled to.

I will however give him another solo shot sometime next week. I used the same strategy you did, but as I say, I could never get him to the CB zone without adds. Perhaps if you rooted him near the zone and just zoned into B, then waited a few secs for the adds to clear and hope your root stuck the time you were in B it might work. If nothing else it make for some exciting hunting. I am also considering taking those two guards to the left next time before I do the pull. Would make it MUCH easier to kill the herbalist with them gone.

Rig,
You're saying you just used the pet to lure him to the zoneline then had the pet sit with you while you dotted and rooted or did you have your pet fight while you dotted him? I'm thinking the first because the pet would break his root but just making sure how you did it.

Pets dont break root. Well at least I know mine doesnt.

Some pets do break root when they proc. The BST pet will def break root since it is a dd proc. I also am not sure our will, but to my recollection I don't remember him ever breaking root.

I think he sent the pet in because pets these days don't cause agro. Then he would FD and once herbalist was agroed he pulled pet back off him. THen when he got to CB he sat up and rooted and dotd him.

The only thing is, there are two guards also in that room and sometimes one at the dock as well, plus pathing takes him around the house and up the left side of the water where there are even more mobs. With him FD he wouldnt agro the others, but they would get the social agro none the less so as soon as you stand up they would agro. There may be an angle to that, as he stated he did it, but it has to be a real fun pull none-the-less and extremely dangerous for a guy his level using FD as a spell to pull him. The adds would not only smoke his pet in short order but him as well.

I dunno, it doesn't seem like it would work to me. Definitely going to need more detail. Doesn't seem logically possible, but then again i never thought someone would solo Naggy and Vox, and i never thought they'd take down the Sleeper, but i've read how it was done and saw the screenshots taken all by honorable players. I never thought we'd find Cat People on the moon before we discovered all the continents on Norrath either, but life's full of surprises.

"And I too tried to solo him but could not shake the adds that come from the left between the pillar columns, and that was with a level 61 LoZ pet"

You have to pull across the water, stay as far away as possible from the guys on the left...

No the pet did not tank lol, as a matter of fact my pet died pretty fast.. root and dot was the method and i took a good beating as well...

Yes i did have help to get down there... was also shown how to do it... i was also down there about 10 hours a day for 2 days to get him... he dropped the herb for me on the first kill

If you would like proof just go onto the veeshan server and ask Tdayven hes a necro and he used to solo the guy frequently... hes also the one that got me down there. Tell him Sheelon sent you asking how to do it

Yeah, I also stood on the water as far away from the mobs on the left as I could. But as I say, I got adds from the left and right of the house as well as the mobs inside the house. I however, was not FD during the initial part of the pull. I will try it again, but this time I will have CoB with me in case there is any tanking to be done.

Don't need any proof as I believe you. I had come up with a very close way of doing it as well, just I didnt have the luck you did with not getting adds. You earned my respect to do it at your level. When I was just a bit higher in level than you I took on Tserrina and no one thought I could do that either. She was a k;jkj when all I could do for my pet was to shadowbond to him while dotting her. I had to let her whack me a few times to let pet get some healing done, and then lifetap her to get it back. When I finally brought her down, my pet was almost dead and I was oom.. but I got her! Now she would be easy, but then.. rough.

I am at this step in my epic and have two questions......first, what zone line ? I have a map of Chardok and have been to the herb house, I don't remember any zone line.....where does it zone to ? Second, what is your Chardok faction ? Unfortunatly I leveled up on Sarnaks in OT in my younger days so I don't have the faction to wonder around Chardok freely, and there are mobs that see through invis, so how did you get to the herb house solo in the first place ? Please let me know, would love to try this myself.....

If you are KOS in Chardok head to the mines of Nurga or Droga and start killing Gobbies. Collect all the Mt Death mineral salts that drop and do this quest http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1887.
It will take a while but then you will be able to stroll through Chardok without being kos.

Bah, get a group to help you get down. Take allot less time to get 5 people together than to work your faction up to walk around chardok. I soloed down the other night. Just need to take it very slow and be high in level so you don't get agro adds. If you aren't high in level forget soloing down.

As for the zoneline, the zone is chardok B. (Don't remember the technical name), but it is just to the right of the waterfall facing out from the herbalist house. There is a lever that you click on to zone in.

Doomfir, thanks for the info, I'll have to give it a try :) Anea, when is the last time you went to Droga ? I use to run around in there clearing out sections at a time, but no more. Even though I killed tons of goblins, I did not see any improvement in my faction. I knew it would eventually improve, but would take time. However, they raised the level some time back. At lvl 59 the gobs were still dark blue. Do you have any idea how long it would take to kill a few thousand db mobs ? It's not worth the effort.

The Zone line that they are talking about is the Hall of the Betrayers. It is the Chardok Pocket zone i know was up on Luclin about a week or so ago.

I got mine in a similar fashion about 6 months or so ago i think i was 61 or 62. I basically did it like this. Got a Virt. Went to Chardok. Invised and DMF'd up. Ran down ZO to guard shack. Ran past Guard shack to lev tunnel. Ran down the leve tunnel to the T in the road and went to the right. I went forward and then angled off the bridge. I looked where i was to see where i was Vs. the mobs. I FD'd. I stood back up and re cast Invis. I had initially lost it not due to casting FD but do to the fact that the level tunnel is mixed Live and Dead and i picked up aggro. Once re invised you can see the water on your left. I went under the water and came back out near the Halls of Betrayer zone and i zone out and back in. That covers how i got there.

I came back in summoned a pet. Gave it pet weps and girdle. Fd pulled the mobs in the left hall. I pet tanked with me HoTing, DoT's and occassional Lifetaps. I would step in and out to assist the pet healing process and take a few hits for my HoT to cover. I cleared the 2 and walker on the left and pulled the mobs b4 the House. I then got the PH on Target and progressively FD pulled him. It took me a few times to get him out of aggro range of the housemates and the outside mobs. Its slow but doable. Killed the PH in the same manner and did my best to keep the spawn clean. It is soloable its just difficult to do and i dont think anyone likes a CR there.

My faction at the time was Max Hate....Lotta clerics wanted Royals for their epics.. who am i to say no to the click chicks of my guild!

Tumi at level 65 most everything in Droga is still DB to me. I brought my 53 ranger there and lot of it was white yellow in the beginning parts and then down by Japal and King most definately red. Hope that helps also.

Hmmm. Having been to Chardock in raid force and watching it get whiped I got to admit tht I think you are twinked to be able to handle this even mostly solo at 52..

Just my thoughts.

Thanks Sin. I may give it a shot for the heck of it, but to be honest, even at 61, it still sounds like a good group would greatly increase your odds of not having to run back through BW in your underware ;)

I tried this for the first time tonight. Fought my way down the side tunnel (think I'll run it and FD next time as it takes awhile to fight your way down solo).

My strategy was pretty basic. Setup at lever with Bertox in my pocket and the lvl 49 pet out. I DMF'd over to the wall and crept up just past the rock that jets out from the hallway with the guards. FD'd here and sent 49 pet. As soon as he hit the PH or named I'd spam /pet back. When they were gettin close I would pop up and run up the portruding rock and back to the lever pocket. I was careful to stay on the outer edge of the rock and never got an add. As soon as the mob got back to me I would pull out the good pet and kill right there. Never even had to zone into Char B. As long as you wait for that wanderer from the hallway you should never get an add. Herb didn't drop for me so I'll have to go back...

Aye, pet pull is the way here. You may have to use the 44 pet..although I'm not to sure on that (it's been a while :P), but yeah...green to mob pet+fd necro and pet disc aa and you can single most any spawn in the game, provided you have enough room to pull the mob back out of assist range. The mansini herb is no drop, but MQ'able unless that's changed from like 3 years ago /shrug.
