The Sleeper (11-17-03)
Over the weekend several guilds gathered on Rallos to fight with the Sleeper. Unfortunately, their encounter was cut short due to an apparent bug.
I wanted to take a moment here and apologize to those that were there, and to those that have heard about the event through their friends. The bug concerned an NPC in the zone that appeared to have been causing the Sleeper to not focus on the player characters. The decision was made at the time to end the event. Further investigation has only served to make it unclear if this was a real issue or not.
I, on behalf of the company, apologize for any consternation this may have caused during your play time. If anyone is going to defeat the Sleeper, it should be done without any question about the validity of the event. We're very sorry that this first attempt was halted, but at the time it seemed like the best thing to do.
We have resurrected and restored those that participated. We have corrected the potential problem, and have reset the encounter. Other than that one potentially problematic NPC, nothing else about the encounter has been changed.
We want to wish those on Rallos that are planning to tackle the Sleeper the best of luck.
Send me some screenshots of all of you standing around the corpse, I'd love to post them on the site.
Thank you and thanks for understanding,
Alan

these are the guilds on RZ who took him down. Ascending Dawn, Wudan, Magus Imperialis Magicus, go to www.ascendingdawn.com to get the scoop and the kewl pics.. The first time they tried to kill him a GM poofed him at 26% thier reason was that he wasn't supposed to be killed and that it would affect the eq2 story line...

completely what I would have expected actually... he doesn't have a loot table because he wasn't intended to be killed. they didn't make him UN-killable with the release of velious, instead just so off-the-charts-uber that no one ever had a chance.
even with pop and post-pop gear/abilities, no one can over emphasize the incredible-ness of this feat. it is truly amazing. and something the devs never counted on players being able to do. hence no loot.
but, I would have liked to see the multiple devs that were there for the kill to have handed out some gear as they do in gm events. or give special titles to some of the raiders, or SOMETHING. not that the bragging rights alone arn't enough, but something to remember it by would have been a nice gesture.

i think maybe even some stupid item, like a peice of sleeper that doesnt do anything but just so you could have something to show people and stuff like a trophy, should be given out to all the raiders whenever hes killed

I think that they should've made some item up on the spot and given the item to each person.
IMHO

They also claimed he was despawned because there was a bug that another mob in the zone was causing the Sleeper not to attacking the players, or somethin of the sort.

Yes, the 3 guilds attacked him once and got him to 26%. A GM entered zone and despawned him because there was SUPPOSEDLY a bug making the mob attack a Invisible Warrior (65 mob, cannot be seen in game no matter what). If you get ShowEQ, you'll know what I mean. Not saying I have used it or have it. I have my ways/connections.
Anyway, they have many stories. The bug, that it would interrupt EQ2 story, that it was the best choice of action at the time. BLAH BLAH BLAH!
Then they respawned the Sleeper the next day... or two. And they whiplashed his prismatic dragon tail.
Supposedly, he procs a DEATH TOUCH. Hits in 3000s. And he has over a 1,000,000 HPs. Wow, he must've of been at 0% for at least 10 minutes. :)
(Fight very high level guys, you'll know)

Instant death with Death Touch, Hits max for 6999, and his HP is actually in the billions I believe, which is why it took so long to down him. Had to zerg the whole entire fight.

Do you mean regular melee items that arent magic or what, cause I thought it was that he is 100% immune to ANY spell, which totally sux, since wizards really serve no purpose there.

Yea, he was 100% immune to every spell. And thanks for getting exact numbers. I didn't want to go check if I was right. :)

Something funny. The three guilds supposedly imedaitely started attacking each other afterwards. That is a PVP server. So they kill the mob then go after each other. That was one reason the last 0% took so long. Many started backing off to prepare for an ambush of the other guilds.
SOOO glad I am not on PVP server.
I had heard the Pet's adn Harmtouches were doing a great deal of teh damage. The SK's were getting their HT's off and that was a big peice of what actually hit him. No idea of the truth of it.

Probably, since everyone died roughly 20 times (each person), all of the SKs probably, as soon as they were rezzed HT'ed so they could get the damage off immediately. That would have really decreased the fighting time, especially if there were a lot of SKs
