you're posting this on an all necro site, where people who play necros get together. Obviously we like our characters, and believe that they are fun to play. It's up to you really, what kind of style of play you like. Necros are very powerful and are an asset to any group but they tend to level faster when you solo. So if you like soloing then go for it and give it a try. If you like groupage you can give it a shot but be warned you may be LFG alot.

It's all about personal preference.

What do you like to bring to the table?

That's the number one question to ask yourself before you start a [new] character.

Is a necro hard to play? For me, no. For other people, possibly. If you find them hard or not to play is unable for us to decide.

Will you be able to find a group? Create a name for yourself. Help other people selflessly, give it your all in groups, and be friendly. Doing that in the early levels will make a name for yourself. People will remember you, and ask you for groups like crazy. Same goes for raids. If people see you as a good raider, they'll remember that.

My necro has no name at all, but I solo with him, so I don't mind. My shaman, on the other hand, gets constant /tells because of people I've grouped with in the past have recommended me. I even get guild invites often (because I'm not in one atm).

btw - for your coding, your forgot the [/]'s at the end.

If you add those, it would look like this:

i dont know if i should make a necro.....are they hard to play?will i be able to find a group?i dont know

Remember, when ending your codes, you've got to use [/whatevercode]

Examples:
]size=5[ ]/size[
]color=black[ ]/color[
etc

And I put the brackets in backwards so it would not insert the code, but I could show examples. Some forums have a ]code[ command, where codes are disabled, dunno if these do or not.

My necromancer was the first charicter i really liked. give em a try we are a fun bunch of psycos. Among the ease of being a necro (to me) I could really get into the charicter of a necromancer. If you like the dark side of things and like pet classes give it a go, have someone help yah out if you have questions I know I had plenty when i started. good luck!

I'd have to say after leveling up a rogue/cleric pretty high lvls, being a necro was a pleasant change in that I didn't have to rely on others to ding... I do like to group, but hell, it can get frustrating being a class that requires a group to lvl. My nec is lvl 54 now and lovin it, luckily, I have had plenty of plats saved from previous characters and farming to be able to twink him the way I see fit. But in all honesty, I probably didn't need half of the gear I bought him at the level he was coz soloing was so easy.. But like all advice people give when making a toon is to play the one you have the most fun with, not what others think is cool.

Yep, obviously we like necros or we wouldn't be here :-)

Necros are very powerful, especially at low levels. Often you will find that if you do group, you will be roughly equivalent to the entire rest of the group. So if they pull 2, you can take one and kill it about the same time (or faster) that the rest of the group kill theirs.

On the one hand, this makes the group a LOT tougher having you in it. On the downside, people can be uncomfortable with how tough you are and it can cause tension. As long as you are aware of this and manage it tho, you will be fine.

The other advantage that necros can bring to groups is that they can fill pretty much any role that a group needs. They can tank (pet with cleric buffs does just fine), do crowd control (they get a mezz spell), be healer (by giving their health to others and then sucking health out of mobs), be a damage dealer (which they excel at), even slower (undead only tho).

Or necros can simply solo. The huge advantage to this is that you can just go and start hunting somewhere and then if you want people to join you, they can just join. You're never in the situation where you need the "right" classes to join so you can hunt effectively. You're everything you need, and anything else is a bonus.

I remember starting my necro, casting my pet spell, and sitting down to med (back in the days where medding meant looking at a spellbook). I hit F8 to see if anything was near enough to jump me, and targetted a rat. I made a /pet attack hotkey and then tested it. Next thing I know I see the message "You gain experience!". So I did it again .... F8, /pet attack. "You gain experience!". Rinse repeat .... DING ! Welcome to level 2. I was like OMG, I love this class. *grin*

after playing a monk to lvl 62 on cazic thule and a 54 wiz and a 54 mage and 55 war and 46 war and a 50 cleric i always tryed necros and all and it was hard for me but after i came from a bard to a necro it turned out to be quit easy but then again this is the first necro i twinked to all hell all depends on if u like soloing or grouping more and what kinda stuff ur interested in to make a necro i hated always having to rely on groups on my monk and cleric and both my wars my wizard i liked just cause i could nuke really hard and my mage it was my first char and i didnt know anybetter but my necro necropheliack lvl 30 at the moment is by far the most fun my bard was very fun and all but necros apsolutely rule in my book i like being able to dot and play with pets and i found out that only time i actually dont play my necro is when im on my monk farming stuff for spells or i play on my cleric cause my buddy needs a rez but necros are by far the best class i played although my bard does come very close sense hes lvl 54 and epiced but id still pick a necro anyday out of any of my other chars hes even been so fun so far he just keeps getting better and i actually found my self stripping most of my toons and droppin about 400k in to my necro all my chars didnt get fun really till like 30 or so but my necro has been fun sense lvl 1 and thats why i love him so much

I love the necromancer class, it's so versatile! You can solo easily, duo well, group with just about any class, and fill most roles in a group. I've been in ldons where I was the only healer, ldons where my pet tanked, and ldons where I twitched the whole time, ones where I just dotted, just tapped, etc. (Just using ldon as a set group example.) My favourite group is all necros... or maybe all necros with a single bard or SK thrown in.

The best part for me is how little down time/med time there is as a necro. When I solo if I'm fear kiting all the medding I need to do is done if I sit while my pet chases the thing around. Even for agro kiting, run, sit, turn around, run sit, turn around, etc. and no (or almost no) additional medding required. For me, the biggest difference between group xp and solo xp is that I often pull faster solo (darn those group members who insist everyone be perfect health and perfect mana before each pull :angry: ) It's a class where you can be on the go as much as you want.
