Hi all,

I'm an officer in a relatively small and relaxed guild on Fennin. I have been thinking about proposing a friendly guild war to help spice things up for our members. It was not uncommon to have a guild war when I first started EQ. I remember them happening, unfortunately due to my levels at the time all I ever saw of the guild war was "LOADING PLEASE WAIT...

I am currently sizing up several guilds to make sure we find one that is a reasonable match for us (Trouncing or being trounced by another guild wouldn't be much fun for anyone I think). I was hoping to farm some info and Ideas as there never seems tobe a lack of either on this board! :)

Here is what I have planned. I am laying out a story line that will inevitably lead two guilds to war and allow them each to fight for a cause they deem an honorable one (Fennin is SUPPOSED to be a RP server though you wouldn't know it these days). It is my hope that the war will be a lot of fun for both guilds invovled. I know tempers flare so I'm hoping to be able to lay down some guidlines (Rules of engagement/ Code of honor), but I don't want to bog down the fun with a bunch of rules, remember... this is war! I figured I can outline said rules in a former declaration of war to be posted on both guild sites. Here's what I have so far and if anyone with guild war experience, or who just sees something important I'm overlooking, has some input please post.

1) Give the dead proper burial rites. Allow guild members to collect their dead off the battle field and rez etc. (ie no corpse camping!)

2) All members to be /role, no /anon.

3) Standing Truce in in POK,Baazaar, and Guild Hall. (I'm not sure if you can PK in those zones on a blue server even with a guild war on or not)

I appreciate any help anyone can give me with this.

Thanks,

Veratu

I didn't know the guild war button even worked anymore.

Did they take Guild wars out of the game?

18 months ago hundreds (perhaps thousands) of people from my Server petitioned to have this command fixed.. we are a Roleplaying Server they claim (yes I know, we are the Phat Lewt Server).

To my knowledge this has never been answered.

/Sigh....

Wow, that's really disappointing. Thanks for the feedback (and the links Felicite). I guess It'll have to be arena contests. <_<

Thanks again

My old guild looked into it.

the facts...

The /guildwar command is broken, however with the assistance of a GM you can still have a guildwar. The function itself is not removed from the game, it will work just fine once started, you may / may not need the assistance of a GM to end the guild war.

This is what my guild leader found out on MR, I suggest you hunt down the e-mail addy for your servers GM and talk directly to him. (i realize "server gms" are no longer there, but there is still a GM that is the head GM for your server)

If you do go ahead with this with a GM's help, you will also want to have a rule or explanation regarding PvP while on a mob (i.e. is it acceptable for someone from guild A to attack someone from guild b while they were engaged on a mob), portal/zone line camping, and investigate things like oor healing. (I mean a person from guild c, not in the guild war, healing someone from guild b who is fighting someone from guild a. I'm not sure how this works in a guild war, but it has caused problems under a few red server rule sets as the person from guild a has no recourse.)

I doubt that you can PvP in PoK/PoTranq/Bazaar/Nexus/Guildhall since you can't duel there, at least on Zek there is no PvP in those zones in any manner.

Appoint referees from each guild who will work together to settle any disputes. While this doesn't fit in well with the RP aspect... you'll probably be glad you did... and you'll be amazed at the things people will come up with that will upset each other.

Well, this is good news! Thanks for all the updates, and thanks Aryse for those suggestions (I only gave passing thought to pking while engaged with a mob and never once had non guilded help evencrossed my mind!).

Looks like I may have a wart o orchestrate! >)
