Actually I've had screaming Rants go as far a 35 pages on the old EQNECRO Board (till the MODS locked them). I'm sure the old MODS will confirm that.

I tend to not be inclined to want to try that.

Screamin rants tend to transfer over into threads that are actually useful making my job here more trouble than it's worth, and the spirit that created this site, does a disservice to those who are looking for pure info.

The site didn't have a rants forum to begin with. It was created as sort of a trash can for threads that got out of hand, to filter them out of the pure necro and EQ related content. The fact that we let some of them go on is purely to let the respective parties scream at each other until they're blue in the face to "try" to keep that from recurring in other threads. It doesn't always work that way, so intentionally starting one wouldn't be something I'd look forward to.

Son, you do understand that you haven't a hope of keeping the Board CLEAN by simply moving threads now?

Every Board has them.

It must be remembered that you don't even have to curse in the Main Forum to cause a California Wildfire. I know as I've done it.

And that's why we have one, I still would rather not start arguments on purpose. Wildfires have been started by people without using cuss words on these boards too, and they were tossed here to burn in flames. I know it happens, just trying to limit the negative effects that's all skippy ;)

you're 'pure info' is, or at least was, wrong info until Brahman and others have taken it upon themselves to fix the mistakes and/or update anything old. So a thread derail wouldn't have mattered in some cases.

Though with a slight rise in corrected information it's better to collect said info in a thread, cram it into the first one or two posts and lock out the thread so no further posts can be made. Wow, another simple fix. A simple fix that takes a bit of work at first but is then made easy once all the backwork is done.

I should be a mod because I am such a genius. And sexy too.

And as to a no rants section, though the inferno is about as close as it gets, Mags is right - a rants section is where you throw the people who love to argue over moot points of either life or EQ or anything. And since the off topic place gets modded for the simplest of things that are ... OFF TOPIC!!!! *GASP GASP SUPERGASP* ... and then moved to here....it strikes that as an example of controlled information - it can be off topic so long as the topic doesn't get too off, and also that doesn't keep to the 'spirit' of that section of the forums.

You said you didn't want the info, the correct info, 'tainted' by useless babble so as to keep the spirit of the site intact, and that's all well and good , but.... Off Topic areas are just that.... off the topic of EQ and the world of necro, thus should be exempt from such moderation - of course nude shots, while great to look at, should be edited out even though they are off topic for the simple fact you all wanted some sort of work safe board or some family type site.

And about WS and NSFW.... if you're at work... why are you looking at a message board that you know may contain some crude (non-nude) pictures.... then complain when you DO see them and so does your boss or some uptight coworker? If you are at work.... work, but if you can't simply do that and want to browse a website like this one.... do NOT go to where you know will lurk a possible 'PWN' image or a signature with bouncing boobies or a cute anime catgirl or possibly some canadian wearing a blue dress thinking he's a wizard. It's simple common sense people, stay out of a section that you know could get you in trouble.

Why are the simple things so hard to find and/or do?

They (MODS, ADMIN, OWNER) don't really want an Work Safe Board. The Want a CHILD PROOF BOARD.

wow, you're the first person to stumble upon the correct shortened form of my screen name.

and yes I've come over here solely because I doubt I would be able to afford ressurecting EQnecro or starting my own forum just to watch and sometimes participate in some good arguments or information exchanging.

Though I think only Sskeli and I are the only ones who aren't totally conforming to the rulesets here. The only thing I have chnaged, for now, is my habit of swearing. Though my restraint on that is wearing thin at times.

With the type of modding going on around here it'd be hard to not post any type of picture that isn't a lilac bush. I don't even think the Happy Bunny or whatever he is called would be allowed to be posted.

Umbrello had good thought in creating a necro site that held info - tho9ugh that info was wrong for a long time - and wanted to keep it 'nice and tidey' he/she.... it is a he right?... forgot about something; everything needs balance and forethought needs to be put into place. He forgot that a balance to an info gathering place would bring people who have differeing opinions on what is correct and what is wrong. Like a Christian says a Catholic is wrong when they both read almost the same book and worship ultimately the same thing. And the balance I mentioned would to have been to have a rant forum, total unrestricted mayhem. Everything else could be modded and put under strict rule but there would have to be at least one outlet for the people of this 'community'. He failed to offer that. All hell broke loose when we came to this board because of the lack of the forethought and need of balance.

And now that one is offered.... it gets modded by what was deemed NSFW. All this was already brought up in another thread so I'll skip all the details. And in so doing that the balance is once again thrown askew.

As I said before, Off TOpic should remain off topic and only modded for porn, true porn or links thereof. Flames should be kept minimul, though they will still arise.

While the Pit should ony be modded for porn and links thereof, true porn... as in NONCLOTHED PEOPLE, not half naked or scantily clad people.

I can play by the rules, after a fashion, as long as balance remains.

and if ever balance tends to lean toward a nice and tidy feel again... sskeli and the 'offensive me' are always hiding in the open.
