View Full Version : Need a good AoE proc weapon for pet.

Are there any weapons out there that proc AoE effects that piss off everything around them? I can see the occasional use for having my pet mow down hordes of green cons on autopilot and was wondering what weapons I can get that will work that way without being obnoxiously hard to get.

Poison wind sensor is about the only cost efficient one. Other then that there is earthshaker that runs around 250k+

This one procs @ level 20, a weak PBAE, but surely sufficient to piss of the CB mobs

The Poison Wind Sensor doesn't proc till 50 (per lucy) and procs a rain based spell not a PBAE.
I'm sure there's probably more items, but the above was the first that came to mind.

Adamantite Bo Stick (http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=544)
procs a rain 75 (x3? or x4 can't remember), at lvl 30.
Should be dirt cheap (if available any more) in the bazaar...

Sword of Skyfire (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=5151), another Targeted AE proc.

Those listed above only effect up to 4 targets though, PBAE's will effect unlimited. I presume he's envisioning pulling every last mob in crushbone, then having pet spank them all, and PBAE'ng them too.

I was using Crushbone as an example because I can sorta remember hunting orcs up there with my necro lizard back in the teens. The principle is the same tho:
Find something that procs AoE agro in a weapon and give a couple of these weapons to your pet. You get some buffs for the pet (if you really want to go all out) and then just sit back at a safe distance while Jabobtik goes beserk. Useful for faction work and probably a serious freakout for any newbies that happen to be watching. Damage shields and a friendly cleric are nice if you are feeling really sadistic.
Also fun for when you feel the urge to go back and just beat the crap out of an old camp just for kicks. Just watch out for the occasional higher level target that might get pulled in by the AoE.
((Heh. And yes, there is the satisfying image of having my *pet* kill the entirety of Crushbone... Way back when I started with my first charachter I had a rather spectacular wipeout there that... ahem. Never mind. No personal vendetta. Nope. Nope. Not a thing wrong.))

Hmm... let's see:
Weapon needs to be usable by pet class (War / Rog / Monk options for Necros. Warrior is probably best if he's gonna be pounded on by even green mobs)
Fayguard Blade Catcher : http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=321
Painbringer : http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=283
Fleshripper : http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=418
Earthshaker : http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=462 (Too bad it no longer drops :( )
Blue Two Handed Hammer : http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=552 (Result of an old Neriak quest... Still supposedly works)
There may be more weapons that proc a PBAoE... But Alla demands that I actually know the name of the proc to look it up, and only a few names jumped out at me. And there were some others, but I'm not sure most of us would give our pets a VP / SSra level weapon just to kill stuff in Crushbone.

I always heard that pets ignore class/race flags and will use the weapon regardless. That's why this was nerfed with a "no pet flag" http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=5714 at least that's what I've read or come to understand.
Also, some of those items you linked are no drop, and I also believe that you can't give no drop items to pets, correct me if I'm wrong =) Or let me clarify, pets won't equip no drop items, they'll take all of em that you throw their way though =)

What is the name of that bard only weapon that drops in Kaesora? Pretty sure it has a PBAE spell. Cant remember what its called tho and don't know if its pet usable.

Heh, good point, Soulrot. Someone not from FV will have to answer those questions seeing as there are few no drop items on FV. I think class may still come into play, though. I have tried to give pets a summoned cleric hammer with no luck and I thought it was because it was cleric only. I guess we need testing.
Jeb, get on it... you have nothing better to do than do research for us.

I linked it in my first post in this thread=)
Weapon does not matter as far as class/pet goes. When I used to kill in Chardok I would give Bob the Sarnak summoner dagger and it is Mag only. Same for recently with my Bst pet using both 2hs and 2hp, neither of which can be used by Bst. The cleric hammer(summoned) has never worked for me though.
