As he is being fought, you need to hit him with the dagger a few times until it disappears. This means that you have triggered the quest and he will in his possession have the Belt you are after.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about this part. The write ups I looked at made it sound like you had to hit him at spawn until the blade disappeared, then u triggered him for the fight.

Nah, can pull him, wait for tank to have aggro and just stab him a few times.

I think it might also be tied to doing any damage to him while holding dagger in Primary. I have done this part about 15 times, but the dagger has only dissapeared once from spell damage, so im leaning more towards a bug than anything else. (I have also only spell damaged him like 3 or 4 times out of those times, so I am not sure. Will have to look into that as I do this run with my guilds current bunch of apps and EQ returners. =)
