O.K. You may already know about this… and that is all right. But I was asked to post this strategy. I hope it helps.

As a pet type player, start a group (yes, by yourself) in one of the zones listed below (this can also work at lower levels). Look for 4 other players of pet type – Necro, Shaman, Beastlord, or Mage. In a pinch, you can also use a druid. They are often overlooked, but do have pets in their 50s and have some mean-butt dots.

After you get 5 pet types, get a ranger or a druid. This is important… other classes may THINK they can do this, but it doesn’t always work out. Rangers at level 9 and Druids at level 1 get a spell called Flame Lick. It uses almost no manna but holds a secret power – it pisses the mobs off like nothing else in the game!

Group all the pet types (preferably on horse or dino-back) in a tight bunch. Get the Ranger/Druid to pull with snare. They must keep casting snare until it takes. The most dangerous thing to do is attack before the kiter calls “agro”. So have them run big circles and have them keep snaring until it takes. Once the mob is snared (hopefully on the first cast), have them cast Flame Lick. The flames shooting off the mob should be a visual signal for the group to attack. But the kiter should still announce to attack.

If the kiter pulls 2, have them kite both until both are snared. Then have them announce which mob to attack. The pet classes MUST sit on their hands until the kiter announces.

Once agro is called, sick your pet and cast DoTs. I suggest Splurt, E-Bolt, and Bond of Death to regain HP for necros. Then just have the kiter circle in tighter circles casting Flame Lick over and over until the mob keels over dead – which is in about a minute or two max.

Wash, rinse, and repeat.

Where to do this:

At lvl 51 to lvl 54, this works well in Plane of Nightmare on both the right and left of the building right at the zone in. Have the pet types stand on the little grassy hills and have the kiter run around them.

At lvl 50 to 60, you can kite in two places in Maiden’s Eye without adds: 1) Just to the right of the Dawnshroud Zone-in, and 2) in the South East Corner, there is a small valley with 3 static Goranga spawn.

At lvl 52 to 60, you can kite in Umbral Plains in a small valley in the South East Corner past the entrance to Vex Thal (make sure to Invis to get there and run high with Dead Man Floating along the zone). Pull Disturbed Elysians. They drop an armor that will make druids happy… so easy to get a druid to kite for your group there.

Also at lvl 51 to 57, Plane of Mischief gives some welcome relief from doldrums. This mostly forgotten plane is easy to get to and incredibly safe. Use the stone in Plane of Knowledge to zone into Great Divide. Then cast Levant or Succor across GD (or follow the river all the way South to the end). At the end of the river, there is a small cave with a dollhouse in the water. Click on the dollhouse and you zone into Plane of Mishief. You can group and kite either to the left or right of the purple port-in platform. Really easy to pull from woods one at a time.

From 55 to 65, you can do this easily in Plane of Valor. I have found two spots. One is immediately left of the zone in. Follow the zone line to a river. There will be stones crossing to a cave. Group on the hill just before the water and have the kiter pull from the cave, over the stones and back up to the group. This is extremely safe for this zone. Make sure the kiter does not use wolf-form... it will agro nasty tree frogs and wipe out your group. The other is a bit trickier to get to. Cast Invis to Undead and run to the castle/fort in the middle of the zone (straight ahead from the zone-in). At the front door, change out Invis to Undead for regular Invis. Run though the fort (over a bridge) and out the back door. With Invis firmly in place, launch out across the zone to the north zone line and avoid all mobs as much as possible. At the North wall, turn right and go to the Northeast Corner. Here you will be overlooking what seem to be tar pits with different types of mobs. Form your group on the hill and pull away.

At lvl 55, I can get around 1AA every 2 hours in PoV this way. I could level all the way through 55 in about 2.5 hours max.

I hope you enjoy this technique! Have fun! B)

Pet groups aren't bad either. mages chaining pets as they die and just nuking the hell out of the mob...I did this with the animals and trees in POS for a little bit when I got bored of soloing. Giants were a bit dicey but not impossible...anyway it's lots of fun and lots of stuff died fast, which made me happy.

Additional:

It turns out that Poison Bolt for Necros is nearly as powerful as Flame Lick for Rangers/Druid.

Also:

I was in a group where the ranger was pulling at the Outer-Cave area in PoV. The mob was around 50% dead when the ranger told me to pull one. I had my pet sicked and had dotted the mob and was just waiting for it to die. So I pulled one.

Everyone finished the fight while i took mine for an agro lap. Then everyone attacked mine while the ranger pulled yet another. As I lapped his, I sicked my pet on his and dotted his in-between Poison Bolting mine. We kept this going for about 45 minutes without break.

I went from 61% of lvl 56 to Ding in 45 minutes.... That has to be some kind of record!

Actually, the best DoT I have found for aggro is Cessation of Corr. I think this is because it is both a DoT and a debuff and debuffs have huge aggro.

For aggro-kiting, CoC rules, even tho it's damage is so light, because it's aggro is massive. Try it, you will love it.

I agree on CoC.. It one sure way to get them to turn on you. I also agree it has to do with the dot / debuff combo.

I understand that CoC has amazing agro. However, I may have misscommunicated something. The kiter is running the whole fight and never stops between pulls. CoC uses 250 mana per cast and Poison Bolt uses 30.

With KEI (or with a combination of a Lich and Bond) you can make back the 30 mana in the time that it takes to cast it.

Also, CoC takes 5 full seconds to cast where Poison Bold takes a scant 1.75 seconds to cast. 3.25 seconds doesn't sound like a lot of time until a mean lizard is running at you fully intent on removing any concerns you may have about what you will wear around your neck at the next party (... no head).

I don't know this for certain, but I believe every class that can cast may have a spell at lvl 1, 4 or 9 that may prove to have the greatest agro of all the spells in their book - just for this purpose.

I do know that I have seen a ranger re-gain agro after a mob was over 50% killed by a different player - ONLY by casting Flame Lick 2 times.

Imagine that... 2 casts and re-gaining agro. THAT is amazing agro.

I used Poison Bolt again the other night and NEVER lost agro a single time.... not once in hours. And if it works, and only costs 30 mana, and only takes 1.75 seconds to cast... why ever use anything else for kiting?

Another great place for kite groups is the HoH graveyard. If you have a good puller (65 Druid is nice for that) they can bring 10+ mobs in one shot. Just assist and destroy.

On Veeshan, a lvl 65 Druid friend of mine will pull named to the graveyard on a regular basis. Most don't summon, but two of them do: Faern Foom (not sure on the first name, but it's pretty close if it isn't right) and Sergeant Bransid (cons even at 65). There is a third who summons, but I can't remember his name off the top of my mind, at any time, the Druid never pulls more than one summoner. As long as nobody in the group damages them until the rest of the mobs are dead, no problem (there's times I'd kill for a damageless snare like what Druids have). When it comes time for the summoner to die, the Druid takes initial aggro, while the rest of the group adds DPS and I'm throwing in my choice kiting DoTs. To get the most output, the last DoT I cast is Embracing Darkness. If ED doesn't get me aggro, toss in a lifetap and that'll do it. From then, until the summoner dies, the Druid and myself pretty much bounce aggro between us to spread out the summon/melee damage.

As for my DoT lineup in HoH:
-Embracing Darkness
-Funeral Pyre of Kelador
-Blood of Thule
-Saryrn's Kiss
(That right there will do 866/tick. If I want even more DPS, add Dark Plague)
When I get Horror, the 5th DoT will be replaced with that.

As an added note: another reason HoH is fun is because there's mobs that are charmable with Dire Charm real close to the zone in, can't beat that for added DPS. Now I just need to get around to getting DC. /snicker

One more thing on HoH: if the puller brings any mobs that are still hot, they are liable to aggro on the closest player, so beware. Best advice would be to hang around the tree while waiting for the puller to bring some friends in, not by the hedge. The exception would be if you're planning on attempting to snare any unsnared mobs as they come through the hedge.

We do the same thing on the nameless xelgadis and I consider a HoH GY kite group the best experience as a necro I have ever had. I have done BoT, PoS, PoV, etc.. and with a good (or two good pullers - better), and kiting 8 mobs or so at a time the best exp you can get as a necro. I can make 3 aa plus in an hour there np. Just stay alert and use DC pets to help kill the mobs and they will go down fast.
