Please people tell me if this is true: I heard that the best way to break root is to shadow step, is it true? Or if the root doesn't break does shadow stepping helps in a way?

Ok for root, here is my advice...

1. First off, best way to get rid of root is to avoid it altogether in the first place. How do you do this? Get your MR above 100, around 150 or so and you shouldnt have any problem resisting all attempts at root by anyone 10 lvls above you or so. I'll write up a post on good/cheap MR gear for necros in the gear section soon and put a link here.

2. If you do happen to get rooted the only thing that can really break it is: a. Direct Damage spells being casted on you. b. Dot's doing their damage on you gives a roll to break root every tick. c. The cancel magic line of spells. If your fighting a caster, it usually isnt even a big deal if you get rooted. Standing toe to toe, necros will do pretty well against most casters, except high lvl wizzies. Dont wanna get rooted by a wiz, their nukes will overpower your lifetaps quick and youll be dead. If you get rooted by a melee, your gonna be hurting as well.

Basically if you want to do well in pvp, the first and MOST important thing to remember is HIGH Magic Resist!!!!!!!! I cannont stress this enough, getting snared/rooted can destroy you in pvp.

I have a friend who is actualy registered here, his name is Ickky. He supposedly has over 300MR self buffed. This is definately excessive, over 200 probably doesnt do much. BUT, it does provide padding for things like Tashani and other Magic Resist debuffs which at high lvls can drop your MR low enough to be rooted/mezzed easily. With over 300MR you should be pretty safe.

root is annulable unless it's the shaman aa root, then it's disease cureable, but for root, just leave your top two slots open after fully buffing, then if root/snare land annul them and your free =) shadow step does not break root =) DD's however do

Lifetaps are hard to resist, need highhhhh mr for that. Unless of course its being casted by a much lower player.

Nay Shadow Step wont work. You'll move perhaps be able to get another spell off (you should probably be thinking of gate at this point) and then he/she will see you. Shadow step just makes escaping easier...
