best spell combo

we i have been working on my necro for about a week now. im level 30 almost 31. well i think im doing the kiting wrong. i start off with a dooming spell to snare the mob. then i will send in the pet to tank to get my life tap dot and heat blood(29 dot i think that is it). so i have 3 dots going then i fear the mob. as the mob runs away i also throw a spirt tap in there to help things along a bit. well here is what is killing me. i use almost 60 percent mana. im wondering if im going overboard with this. and i was wondering if someone could give me a word of advice on the best tatics of this kind of kiting at level 30. also i have looked at the spells for 34 and they seem to be alot more mana eff. so im guessing i would doom and then dot , fear and sit. also can anyone tell me the best mana eff. combo for this level i mean so i dont have so much down time. oh one more thing keep in mind i have a mount so that helps a bit. ty for the info

My Nec is almost 60 and I've soloed about 54 of his levels, he was my first toon so I really didn't have any help with the basics....I just had to work them out for myself, this is what I've learned....lol.
Your mana efficiency will never really increase all that much as you will constantly be hunting higher lvl mobs...
I have found that an extended range item (I.E. moonstone ring) is VERY helpful in adding a little more time to get that last DoT in before you fear or start the chase.
Root rotting isn't our strong point as Necro roots just plain out suck.
I'f you're going to multi-kite use fear and DoTs on all the mobs (I've done up to 6 Giants at once in BW at the fort)....don't rely upon Screaming Terror to save you....it's duration is too short for mob control in a fight.
Enjoy fear kiting while you can (till about 53-55 depending upon where u hunt) as you will start to hunt in zones where you are no longer able to use fear without bringing every mob in the zone back with your mob....lol.
The upside to being a Necro is that we can solo alot of mobs that would take a full group of same lvl toons to kill....the downside is that we have to expend alot of mana to do it.
All in all we really are still one of the most versatile toons in the game.

For me 29 - 34 was one of the hardest level ranges to get through. Until you get to 32 or 33 you won't be as mana efficient as necro's normally are. But the grind is well worth it because at 34 you get Invoke fear and venom of the snake. Once you get those Fear Kiting takes on a whole new meaning. If I had it to do over again, then I would try to find a good group to help the time pass during the grind.

On the other hand if you are devoted to fear kiting, then you will have to find a balance. There is a fine balance in fear kiting between killing speed and mana efficiency. The ideal situation is that as the mob is dropping you are just coming to full mana not to kill the mob as fast as possible. At your level the only way to accomplish that is to use a lower version of Darkness because dooming is too inefficient at your level. Pull with whatever vers of Darkness you'd prefer and then cast heat blood. Back up fear and send pet. You can cast heart flutter for some extra dmg if you desire. Sit and med until fear drops. Tap, recast fear and darkness as required. When the mob drops you should be close to FM (if you use Dooming then you will be closer to 85%). Mix and match different spells until you get that balance.

What is your INT? maybe try and get some stuff to increase that and your mana pool. pretty much all my gear does that and only AC/melee be damned. I'm at 33 and it does not seem take 60% mana to solo a mob (athough it may take 25%, not the greatest still) using mostly the same plan (snare with darkness, heart flutter or boil blood if you can before it gets to you, send pet in, fear it away). LDON sure has helped in leveling in the 29 - 34. I have tried to solo some during this time and seem to get nowhere.
