Hey guys me again,
My 38 necro is my main and everyone is talking about maxing INT but my question is which is better to have pure mana items or getting the 5INT items?
I currently have 171 INT and I'll try to post my magelo once I leave work. I got basically HP & Mana items whereas i wield a cone of mystics and a Stein of Moggok.

Most people recommend getting INT to 200, then start worrying about straight mana gear. Your best bet is to use a mana calclator to see how much extra mana the +INT will get you, and compare to what the +MANA is on the other piece of equipment you are looking at.
I use the mana calc on Caster Realms. Any other suggestions on mana calcs?
You might also look into various focus effect items. Sometimes, mana preservation can be better than increasing max mana. For a level 38, you would need at least a level 2 focus effect, but since the max on that is level 44 I believe, a level 3 would be better. Of course, focus effects on an item will make the price skyrocket, so unless you have deep pockets, this may not be an option.
Hope some of this helped.

You may want to consider more some hp gear. Switch out that 30 mana for 6 ac 65 hp rings for around 350-500 pp, hp = mana at 38, you got cob now, use it :P

My situation with this was pooring about 70k into my necro, but, that by no means says you have to do that to be powerful. I bought a Zlandicars heart and an Orb of the infinit void for my held items. NOTICE that the orb only has 5int vs the hearts 20. But the orb also adds 75 to mana, this addition of mana along with the 5 int is better than an item given 12 int up to around lvl 60 i think, its been a long time since i calculated it. My necro has 238 int, he is iksar so yes i have a lot of int + items, but i have added my mana adding items and they sit at +375 to mana in all. Meaning I'm kicking around or close to 1800 mana at lvl 30 or more, i dunno havent checked. Just organize your items in the best way YOU think will work, big part of enjoying the game. Keep killin dudes

Mana Vs. Int
Int provides more mana at the upper levels than mana items because mana is an equation of level x Int. Mana items are better at lower levels because a 45 mana item would be great in comparison to a 2 Int item when you are level 5.
mana items are also better after your int is capped and you still want to have a larger mana pool. I do not know the int caps anymore since they raised them but that is useful information if someone has it to post.
Your mana cap is higher than Int alone can make it so mana items are a good way to still increase your mana pool after you are int capped. Until you are capped however, and you are high in level, Int should be your primary mission; followed very closely to stamina / hitpoints / regen. People differ in what is more important to them so this should be listed as a preference.

The int cap is still 255 for everyone level 60 and under
From there the cap raises 5 int per level and with certain aa's it can reacha total cap of 355

HEH lOVE THE OOIV.. I just bought a tacticians bulwark to upgrade the orb, I like my resist stuff, hell I guess sk can use it.. I think my INT is 275ish.. I have naked INT 134, all I know is I take the zlandicar heart off (+20 INT) fer selling loots and im still maxed INT (well at least for a 54 :). coupled with those other stats :) Some pieces like Iron amulet of unseen horrors 10int 75 mana +25 saves made no hps a lil easier to live without. I have 1642 hps at 54, and slightly more than 3200 mana
Quick question guys..
Is improved damage 4 > the belt in my profile? I forget what its called, but the stats on it is unimpressive except for the improved damage 4.. If so, how much improvement in your opinions.. Any suggestions are welcomed :)

INT past 200 for a necro is worthless until 65, mana per int is about 15-20 until 200 then after that it soft caps and becomes about 2 mana per int so hp/mana items are better until 65, when i remade my necro i put about 120k in gear on him, not too much at 52 with 225 int i'm pushin a 5k mana pool because of the +pure mana items i got, when i take that off and put straight int gear on and max it i'm only gettin maybe 3.2k so my advice is 200 then hp/mana for sure until you get 65

I know this is int vs mana, but in my opinion a lvl 65 necro's (or someone who wants to be prepared for 65) primary concern should be hp ie stam but mainly hp items. The purpose of having a large mana pool is to stretch how long you can continuously cast spells for your fight. SoS stretches your mana more than int items could ever do, but its very risky to use with low hp, trust me i learned the hard way i use to go all int and mana items had under 1k hp no forceshield and arch lich going pre PoP and that was fine but once PoP came out I got bitch slapped. I soon realized hp is where its at and where it will continue to be at. Obviously its to nice to have int and mana but in conclusion: HP #1 concern , then int to your softcap, then mana items.

in regards to ID4 belt and that belt... personally i would choose ID4 but part of that migh be because i am on a PvP server and taps are a very utilized tool for me... however... probably close to 90% of the time while im doing pvm i use the HoT taps as they are more mana efficient, i only use taps when i need the quick hp, need to kill quick, dont wanna waste a lot of mana if the mob is almost dead but need hp, ect ect... it really has to do with how you play i suppose... oh yes and there are also some other nukes that i usually use in group situations, but i dont group too often or when i do i dont usually play a nuker, so i wouldnt know that one heh... GL not sure if this helped to much
